Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead-Chapter 435 - 230: Target: Farrell
Does that still need to be asked?
The hidden side quest and the main quest don’t conflict, and with the cooperation of the entity, it’s much easier to complete.
Wu Chang didn’t hesitate at all and immediately chose to accept.
"Just as you said, the enemy of an enemy is a friend. As long as you can help us eliminate those people, we’ll find a way to help you expose the true face of Hymn Company."
Wu Chang snapped his fingers, and the tumultuous sea turned into a splendid palace.
The two appeared in front of a long table with two glasses of wine on it. Wu Chang picked up one of the glasses and raised it to signal Raymond.
This sudden scene change further convinced Raymond that everything around him was an illusion.
He looked at the glass in front of him, thinking to himself that this young man indeed had a sense of ceremony.
He picked up the glass, and they gently clinked them, sealing their partnership.
The wine went down his throat, bringing a pleasant taste. Raymond savored the lingering fragrance in his mouth, recognizing it as the taste of Federation Coins.
The glass of wine he drank would cost at least tens of thousands of Federation Coins if placed in reality.
Looking at the empty glass, Raymond was surprised; an illusion capable of simulating taste - is that still an illusion?
Whether it was due to the impact of Wu Chang’s ability or the influence of the Perfectionism Title, when Raymond looked at Wu Chang again, he found this person quite reliable.
Although it wasn’t to the extent where he could completely trust him with his back, he wouldn’t worry about the other stabbing him from behind.
But with Wu Chang’s ability, if he wanted to stab him, he wouldn’t need to do it from behind.
After accepting the side quest, the two further confirmed their cooperation model.
During the Silent Route, considering Sword Star as an acquaintance, he shared some soup with Sword Star and the Negotiation Master. Now the situation was different, and he wasn’t prepared to sync the hidden side quest with Booker and the others.
So for confidentiality, he reached an agreement with Raymond: they would contact each other exclusively and would not disclose their arrangement to a third party.
Raymond also had the same thought; few could resist the temptation of Hymn Company, and hadn’t another group with special abilities chosen to join them?
He trusted Wu Chang, but that didn’t mean he trusted the people around him.
The two quickly agreed.
With the cooperation model confirmed, next, it was time to discuss specific actions.
Speaking of specific actions, Wu Chang had to solve the first problem, which was Raymond’s identity.
Raymond’s dual role as an agent allowed him to mobilize resources from the National Taxation Bureau and the Central Intelligence Agency. But that was under normal circumstances; he’d made such a big mess in Wildot City, and if those above noticed, his identity could easily be exposed to Hymn Company.
How many moves can the government make? The former director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation is now a guest of Hymn Company. If someone claims there are no people from Hymn Company in the Central Intelligence Agency and the National Taxation Bureau, who would believe it?
Wu Chang asked, "Have your superiors noticed what you’re doing now?"
Raymond showed a reassuring expression and said:
"I’m a professional when it comes to undercover work, so I definitely haven’t let them notice. They don’t even know that I’ve already infiltrated Hymn Company’s key laboratory."
Wu Chang pursued further, "They haven’t asked about recent events?"
Raymond’s gaze drifted, and his tone weakened, "My previous response was that I didn’t know and was investigating. After seeing you a couple of days ago, I told the Central Intelligence Agency it was a group of mysterious strangers with powers doing it. To make them believe it, I even recorded a short video and sent it over."
Wu Chang: ...
Seeing Wu Chang’s face darken, Raymond took out his phone and remedied the situation, "Rest assured, the video I recorded didn’t show you, only those mysterious strangers chasing you. They’re now suspecting it’s the modified human spies from Bear and Rabbit infiltrating Wildot City to steal the core technology of Essence Armor."
Wu Chang sighed, although exposing the Players might draw Hymn Company’s attention, at least things were covered up for now.
Besides, his entity’s identity is a Plane native, so Player exposure isn’t Sean Manager’s concern.
"If you hadn’t encountered us, what was your original plan?"
Raymond’s expression grew even more unnatural, hesitating for a long time before speaking the truth.
"Actually, my plan has already failed. If I hadn’t met you, I could only use a terror attack to announce to the world that Disqualified Monsters can be artificially created."
Wu Chang looked puzzled, what does that mean, how did it fail already?
"Why did it fail?"
Raymond said bitterly, "It’s all that damned Sean’s fault."
Wu Chang: ?
What do you mean, I just got here, how is this my fault?
You’ve got a bit of a two-faced thing going on, last night you were calling me Sean Manager with a courteous face, and now it’s that damned Sean.
Raymond continued:
"The loophole I previously used to infiltrate the key laboratory has been discovered by Hymn Company. Now, to enter again, I can only go through Farrell’s permissions."
"Through my mediation, Farrell and Moritz were supposed to have a transaction. Using the deal, I could frequently approach Farrell and try using Hypnosis to control him or assassinate him to gain access permissions."
"But that damned Sean, along with Schultz, used the same dirty trick by releasing the Disqualified Monster to steal the order, leaving me without a suitable excuse to get close to Farrell again shortly."
Now it’s Wu Chang’s turn to feel guilty; according to Raymond, it really is his fault.
