Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead-Chapter 397 - 217: Panic and the Deep Underground of the Management Bureau
Wu Chang looked at the darkness that suddenly blocked his view; it was a form of magic, belonging to the mysticism framework. Under the effect of the Eye of Breaking Method, he quickly saw through the true form of the darkness.
Blocking his vision was a small, palm-wide dark cloud. Although not large, it was enough to obscure his sight.
Simple, practical, with low consumption. If converted into a skill, it would at least be a D-Level skill.
More importantly, this dark cloud contained a specific type of energy that allowed it to bypass attribute judgment to some extent and take effect directly.
This energy, Wu Chang was just able to see through.
It was the power of emotions, specifically the emotion of panic.
Wu Chang had only seen the operation of converting emotions into power on Leman and in Peaceful Town; was the perpetrator a follower of Leman?
When he saw through the dark cloud with the Eye of Breaking Method, the dark cloud could no longer obscure his vision, and he could clearly see the scene in the bank.
Inside the bank, every employee, security guard, and customer performing transactions were each surrounded by a dark cloud.
Influenced by the emotions within the dark cloud, everyone had fallen into panic. Without needing ropes or straps, everyone curled their bodies and sat on the ground, shivering uncontrollably with no desire to resist whatsoever.
Wu Chang noticed that these people were unharmed, and their belongings were untouched; an old lady wearing a conspicuous gold necklace still had it around her neck.
The tellers controlled within the counters weren’t being coerced to remove cash as portrayed in movies and place it into the travel bags of perpetrators.
Clearly, the perpetrator wasn’t here for money.
In a bank not for money, then what’s his goal?
"Didn’t understand my words? I told you to squat down with your head in your hands!" The speaker’s emotions were very unstable, shouting loudly again.
Wu Chang smirked; he could sense that the person behind him wasn’t a player but a wild transcendent.
Because the person was weak, aside from the extraordinary ability to obstruct vision, their physical attributes were no different from an ordinary person. Moreover, what they held was just a common pistol, from which he couldn’t sense any energy.
This little gadget alone couldn’t hurt him.
In his earpiece, Spirit Fox’s voice came through, asking if he was in danger.
"Hold still for now," Wu Chang quietly told Spirit Fox, advising him to stay on standby.
The guy behind was full of quirks; he had to see what was going on.
The wild transcendent thought Wu Chang was speaking to him, grip tightening on the gun, shouting: "What did you say!"
Wu Chang said, "I said I’d squat down with my head in my hands right away; please don’t harm me."
As he spoke, Wu Chang trotted to a corner and crouched down, watching the wild transcendent’s next actions.
Next to him, sitting shivering on the ground, was a policeman. The gun in the wild transcendent’s hand was likely grabbed from this policeman.
Wu Chang pulled the policeman’s hand, gripping it tightly.
"Nice to meet you, have you eaten?"
Using the handshake as cover, Wu Chang infused Thunder Spiritual Power into the policeman’s body, its Break Evil effect immediately dispelling the panic within the policeman, calming him.
Then Wu Chang used the talent of Mystical Mastery, grasping the black cloud in front of the policeman’s eyes, shifting it upward two centimeters, restoring half of the policeman’s vision.
He then placed his left index finger against his lips, signaling with a hush not to move.
To ensure cooperation, he kept holding the policeman’s hand, ready to use Thunder Spiritual Power to knock him out if he moved rashly.
The policeman, professionally trained, quickly calmed once out of panic.
Surprised, he looked at Wu Chang, full of questions, but Wu Chang wasn’t ready to answer them.
Wu Chang lowered his finger, leading the policeman behind a chair and took out his phone, switching to night mode to type.
"I ask, you answer. Type if you know, shake your head if you don’t."
The policeman nodded in agreement.
Wu Chang first asked the initial question, "When did he come?"
The policeman took the phone and typed 1:55.
Wu Chang glanced at the time; it was now 2:50, meaning the wild transcendent had been controlling the bank for nearly an hour without doing anything.
Not stealing money, not taking lives.
Here just to test his abilities?
Wu Chang typed the question, "Do you know what he’s done?"
The policeman shook his head and then typed, "Before you arrived, it was chaotic; I don’t remember what happened."
Wu Chang frowned; the emotional power within the dark cloud was affecting the hostages’ minds.
Feeling he couldn’t gather intelligence from the policeman, to prevent him from becoming a liability, Wu Chang withdrew the Thunder Spiritual Power and pulled the black cloud back over the policeman’s eyes.
Obscured in darkness, emotionally influenced, the policeman returned to his curled and shivering state.
Wu Chang used Social Phobia and Elite Stealth to stand up from the ground, seeking traces of the wild transcendent.
His curiosity grew; what on earth did that guy want to do?
Following the wild transcendent’s aura, he reached the second floor of the bank and saw the wild transcendent in the hall.
The wild transcendent, one hand clutching a knife and the other stained with blood, was currently wantonly smearing his own blood on the walls of the second-floor hall.
The things on the wall could only be described as smears.
It wasn’t a drawing, nor did it show any discernible patterns or outlines; only chaotic, irregular lines could be seen, like a madman painting the world as he sees it.
