Beastmen: She Tames the Land-Chapter 186: Planning in advance
Visha paused, her eyes surveying the group. She could see the clear confusion.
"When we left, it was to visit the Verdant Maw." The crowd began to murmur, its voice loud and overwhelming.
"Quiet," Xeno remarked, using a strand of vital energy. It sounded throughout the caldera.
Everyone stopped; the place was silent. Not even bird calls could be heard. Xeno turned to Visha, giving a nod.
"Our visit to the maw has given us insight into the growth of the beastmen and females of the continent. For females, we have confirmed that all females have the ability to transform. Then there is the issue of bloodline."
"You have seen the changes in me and your leader, Uri; this is a result of our bloodline. We do not ask you to understand everything. But we want you all to know that we have the intention of figuring out how to stimulate everyone’s bloodline safely."
"A word of caution, not everyone will have a high bloodline. The panthers, the condors, and the mammoths have the highest bloodline that we know of. We will continue to give more information as we know more. But for now, these are the things we ask everyone to keep in mind."
Once the meeting adjourned, Mira and Gorn found the trio.
"We..." Mira began. But Uri cut her off.
"There is no reason for you feel you should not go home. Your home is your own. We will still be allies," Uri stated.
Gorn nodded, then looked at Uri’s arm. "The others won’t say it, but I will. How did you get your arm back?"
Visha laughed to herself. Gorn was blunt as always. But Visha liked this about him. It was better to have an ally willing to say bad things to your face than one who would say good things, then sneak around.
"The maw," Uri said, lifting his arm. "There are things we are unable to say now. We ourselves don’t fully understand them. All I can say is that the phenomenon changed many things on the continent."
"Also," Visha chimed, "my friends, though you want to leave. I do have to suggest you stay until after the winter. Between going to the Ram tribe and escorting you home to deal with the plants, it would not be easy."
Mire and Gorn heard Visha’s remark and realized they were too hasty to leave. Although they wanted to go home. They would still need to get rid of the plants. It seems they would need to consult their people again.
"Thank you for the advice, young priest. It appears we weren’t thinking of the complete picture," Mira replied.
"It is also an oversight on our part. We had not considered many things before we spoke," Uri answered.
Visha, Uri, and Xeno decide to go back home. A pack link was sent to Roc and Corsvil to let them know when the decision had been made. When it was only the two of them, they relaxed in each other’s arms.
Visha was the first to speak up, "Do you think I should go talk to Lyra?" Visha shifted uncomfortably. "She is my sister. So this bloodline issue would also affect her. I also want to know whether she might be able to awaken her bloodline."
"Not now," Xeno replied. "We don’t understand most of what’s happening ourselves. We only mentioned it to give the pack an answer as to our changes. But even we aren’t sure what other changes we will encounter."
"The best thing to do is wait. When we know more, we can let her know." Uri pinched Visha’s ear. "If she does come to you, you decide what to say."
Another thirty minutes passed before anyone came to the door. Xeno called out to them to open the door rather than walk towards it. The people standing outside were Mira, Gorn, and Crosvil. They understood that Mira and Gorn were here to let them know whether they would be staying for the winter.
"Come in," Visha said, gesturing for everyone to take a seat. "Crosvil, just wait a moment."
The trio turned to the two leaders.
"We have decided to stay. It would be best for everyone. Since we are seeking your help and you still have things that need taking care of, we may as well wait. Though I must say that some of our people are not very happy about it," Gorn replied straightforwardly.
"Expected," Xeno shrugged. "But have they ever thought that if one plant can leave, others can too? Can they guarantee there won’t be the same problem in spring?"
Mira and Gorn’s faces fell. They themselves had never considered that the plants would come back in the spring. If that happened, then where would their tribe live? Would they need to continue relying on the Warm Pack?
Uri watched their faces. He understood when he saw their faces fall, that they had not considered such a thing. While he will admit that he wanted to absorb the Stone-horn and River clan, he could not understand why the thought never came to mind.
Even during the meeting, they were asked so publicly because he expected them to want to leave. So Visha’s question of them staying was no no way a random thought. It was calculated. The longer they stayed, the more likely they were to join the pack.
If they were willing to stay, it would mean the pack has more power. With the Stone-horns metal skill and the River clans trade routes, it would make things much easier for the trio.
This way, they could spend time learning about their cultivation and how to make the pack stronger while the pack themselves deal with the more mundane things until they are ready to share.
Mira and Gorn made a brief statement before heading back to their respective tribes.
Uri turned to Crosvil, "Have the people been selected?"
"Everyone is ready whenever you are," Crosvil replied.
After giving a few instructions, Uri informed Crosvil that they would leave tomorrow.
