Beastmen: She Tames the Land-Chapter 184: Fine, Good
Uncertainty flickered in Visha’s eyes. She wasn’t sure what to say. Her mouth could only open and close. Visha wasn’t sure what to say, but the system apparently wanted to make itself known.
[I’m fine]
The sound echoed in the room. The room was silent, everyone speechless. The system was actually able to project its voice. This was something no one could have anticipated. Did the crystal really give so many changes? 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
The tension in Krag’s shoulders lessened. Chi’s eyes became misty, but tears did not fall.
"Good." Chi kept repeating the word. Chi turned her head up and took a deep breath before calming down.
Visha was still in shock. Uri and Xeno were not much better. They had known about the system, but hearing it make itself known. That was another matter. And not only did it make itself known. It made itself known to Krag and Chi.
When they were able to calm down, Chi spoke. "We will be leaving soon."
The words carried weight. The trio had always known they wouldn’t stay forever, but it hadn’t been that long.
"If we stay, things will become more complicated. We can assume some things. But others are up to your discretion. We will not stay here and influence your decisions," Krag stated. "As for the chamber, I do not suggest letting others go just yet. That place, without the crystal, will soon lose its chaotic energy. It will blend with the rest of the world’s energy, increasing it."
"And the plants inside, what will happen to them?" Uri asked.
"They will leave." Chi chuckled. "They aren’t indestructible. The beastmen of this land still have a chance to fight them. And without the continuous chaotic energy seeping into them, many of them will become more docile."
"As for everything in the pack," Krag said, returning to the topic they had originally intended to discuss. "They are doing well. No one has slacked off in their duties. The Rams are a little restless. And a few females have become...troublesome. But nothing we are unable to handle."
Ending their report, they walked out of the house. Before they left, Chi said, "We’re glad to have you back."
Visha felt the warmth in her heart as she said it. Yet she could feel there was more depth than Chi let on. Still, she thanked her.
When they were alone, Xeno couldn’t help asking. "Do you think everything they said was true?"
"It is," Uri nodded.
"Someone trusts them all of a sudden," Visha teased. "Don’t think I don’t know that even though you accepted their help, you didn’t trust them."
Uri pursed his lips. "I think..." he paused, searching for the right words. "There is something familiar about him."
"Familiar?" Xeno asked.
"Yes. It feels...different but familiar. I am not sure how to explain it," Uri stuttered.
"Don’t explain," Visha said. "Maybe we’ll find out later. They keep being mysterious. But according to them, we’ll find out whatever they’re hiding sooner or later."
"But in all the things they didn’t say, we were able to get a lot of information. One, there is a Beasy City. Two, we are apparently the Unawakened. Three, we have the bloodlines of Leviathan, Tenko, and the Yellow Tiger. I call that a win," Xeno said smugly.
"Well, one thing you didn’t mention. They know the system." Visha’s voice was tight. She couldn’t help it. If she were only thinking about it, she could deny it. She could say it was all in her head.
But the system acknowledged them, personally. That’s not something she could explain away.
She would need to find time to talk to the system. Another thing on her list that she had yet to start.
"Can we go back to the maw?" Visha sighed, slumping in her seat.
"We can. But what would happen to the pack?" Uri answered, chuckling. Visha’s exasperation was cute to him. Xeno smoothed her hair in an attempt to make her feel better.
"We gave the pack the day off. We should give ourselves a day off." Visha flew up from the couch and stomped her way up the stairs.
"Shasha is becoming more child-like," Xeno commented.
"Says the one who has always been a child?" Uri countered.
"I’m not that bad," Xeno said, standing up and heading outside.
"Where are you going?" Uri called after him.
"I’m a child," he retorted. "Shasha said it’s a day off, I’m going to be a child."
Uri chuckled. He lay on the couch by himself. His eyes flitted from the door to the stairs. He thought about the conversation they just had with Krag and Chi. The pack might be fine, but other things are happening in the world that fill his heart with unease.
And the familiar feeling he felt from Krag. He couldn’t understand it. He didn’t have this feeling before. Yet coming back and awakening this supposed bloodline. Because, based on what Krag had said, the very reason they had these abilities was because of bloodline awakening.
But what about those with lesser bloodlines? Could they go through the same thing they went through? What would happen if they fail?
These things swirled in his mind. He didn’t have the answers now, but he would...soon.
He raised his left hand. He turned it over and over. He flexed and gripped. It felt real; he knew it was real. But a power strong enough to regrow an arm. It didn’t settle his heart. The more he was unable to understand, the more her felt things were complicated.
Outside, Xeno said he wanted to be a child, was actually thinking. He had many questions and no way to get answers.
Upstairs, Visha was not asleep. Her worries were no less than Uri’s or even Xeno’s. But she had to push it aside. Right now, her focus should be on the pack.
They needed to take care of the Rams, quickly get their partners, and prepare for the long winter ahead.
