Beastmen Love-Chapter 32: Wind

Lee didn’t even care that he was weaker than the dragon, he attacked Cyprian’s face and wanted to kill him for making Astri sad like that.

Cyprian holds Lee’s arms and throws him away.

"I’m sorry. She had to go through this to understand what she really is. I didn’t know she would have a hard past, but either way, she has to face her own enemy by herself." Cyrprian speaks.

"Why? We have been living peacefully until now. Why does she have to go through this? She needs to live happily, that’s all." Zin says.

He’s dying inside, wanting to go after her.

"Would any of you live happy not knowing who you are? Not knowing what you’re capable of? Even knowing you’re strong and feeling that something inside of you wants to come out?" Cyprian questions them, and they don’t know what to answer. "I know you love her, but she needs to go through this. For her own good. You can’t keep her away from this. What you can do is support her through this. She’s more important than only being your mate. She can change the world."

They think carefully and realize that they can’t just also pretend she’s a common beast. With all her knowledge she really can make things different for everyone.

"But does she want that? Does she want to go through this? Or does she want to change the world?" Wayde asks.

"It is her choice. I know she wants to know what she is, she wouldn’t ask me if she didn’t. I want to help her because I believe that once she learns her true identity, the world will be better just by having her existence." Cyprian answers.

"Astri already went through too hard things. Everything she needs is to be pampered, do what she likes, have her garden, and be happy. That’s it." Lee speaks.

"She can still live like that. Learning who she is won’t prevent her from being happy. What you need to understand is that what you know as normal won’t work for her. And you already know that. I’m old and I never saw a female thinking the way she thinks, I’m sure I will be impressed many times just by watching her." Cyprian says. They know Cyprian is right, but they hate seeing Astri sad. "Don’t think I like to watch her sad. She saved me, so if I really want to help her, I need to do something that will actually help her."

They felt the pressure of his words. They feel useless as mates. They go back again to making salt, to think silently about their little female.

Astri sits on the sand and hugs her legs. She stays looking at the sea, using the smell of the water and the breeze to calm her down.

"I need to stop thinking that someone will give me answers. And the way I’m living now is not giving me answers either. I need to make a choice of forgetting about this entirely or finding out about this." She thinks alone. "I was always the different one. Why is that? I remember the caretakers from the orphanage saying that I was often behaving strangely. Like talking to plants or animals, or talking to myself. That I was a glutton and could eat like a starving animal. They would always make me work on their plantation because they thought it was the only thing I was good at. I was stronger than other children and when I defended myself from perverts I was stronger than them too." She hides her face between her knees. "Why is this happening? I thought I could be happy with Zin, Wayde, and Lee. That one day I would just shift and that’s it. But apparently, it won’t be that simple. Cyprian and Claud are acting the same way towards me, being secretive because I’m not ready. I think I will never be ready! Where should I look after?! What do I need to do?!" She’s hugging her knees tightly and pressing her forehead strongly, like wanting to redirect her frustration.

She feels a stronger gust hit her, and then she raises her head, she feels like a hand is cleaning her tears but there’s nothing in front of her. It’s like the wind is touching her like a hand.

She feels the wind coming from behind her, like pushing her to stand up. It kept hitting her back like a fan until she stood up.

She feels the wind directing her to the trees behind her, like pushing her. She started walking to the trees and the wind stopped pushing her.

"All right.. The wind is talking to me." She says to herself, impressed.

She touches a tree and then she feels her hand get warmer. The tree felt like it was pulsing through her hand even if there was a thick layer of bark.

"So.. When I was a child, I was really talking to the plants?" She asks herself.

Then she feels the wind gently surrounding her, like confirming her thoughts.

"All right.." She says, still shocked. "I’m not crazy. I’m really talking to the wind and trees." She tries to reassure herself.

She rubs the tree like giving affection to a puppy. She sees a flower near the tree, it looks like rotting and sad, so she kneels and touches the flower.

"You’re a beautiful flower." Astri says to the flower.

The flower starts getting more color and turning bright again, shocking Astri because it looks like magic.

"I made the flower happy?" She asks.

The wind surrounds her once again.

"All right.. Now I’m a believer." She speaks.

Lee was watching Astri from a distance. He saw her going to the trees, but then when she went deeper inside he lost her from his eyesight.

"Wait. I’ll go." Cyprian says.

"She’s my mate." Lee seriously states.

"I’m the one who made her sad. I won’t do anything against her. I’ll protect her. Don’t worry."

Lee sees Astri coming back to the sand, then he relaxes.

"Good. Now you can watch me apologizing." Cyprian speaks, walking in her direction.

Lee sighs, angry, and crosses his arms.

"I don’t like that lizard." Lee speaks.

"Me neither.. but it looks like he knows more about Astri than we do." Zin says, gloomy.

"He just knows what beast she is, but we know her more than anyone." Wayde speaks.

"Yes. We are her mates, we know everything she likes and how to make her happy. We can help her through this." Lee speaks.

"We have to. My only mission in life is to make her happy and protect her." Zin says.

"Our mission. My mind has the same thought. I don’t care if she’s a goddess or a frog, only death will take me away from her." Wayde speaks.

For some reason, the three of them became like best friends when it was about Astri. They only fight for her attention, but to protect her they trust each other with their own lives.

Cyprian gets closer to Astri, she’s kind of lost in thought looking around until she sees him again.

"Do you talk to the wind?" She asks directly.

"No." He answers, smiling.

"Hum.. Interesting. Does anyone can?"

"Depends. The closest ones to Nature are the unicorns." He answers.

"I’m an unicorn?!?!" She asks in shock.

"No. They don’t have wings. And I can smell bird on you, and I saw wings on your mates’ marks." He answers.

"Ok... An unicorn would guide me?"

"Not all of them are capable of connecting to Nature. They’re rare and one capable of that is even more rare."

At the same moment, she thinks of Claud.

"Do you know an unicorn?" She asks Cyprian.

"Yes. He’s an old friend, but it would be hard to get to him." He answers and she confirms her thoughts.

"I see.. I need to improve this.. skill to understand more who I am, right?" She asks.

"Yes... You don’t have to pressure yourself. I’m sorry if I made you do that. I don’t want to make you sad, I just wanted to help you, but it’s been so long I talked to anyone and I think I don’t know how to treat someone well anymore."

She smiles.

"Thank you. That’s all right. I have to face this anyway and you actually helped me. Sometimes it hurts leaving the comfort place we created to hide." She says.

He smiles and nods.

"It’s true. I’m sorry either way. I didn’t know your past and why you don’t know about yourself."

"Don’t worry. Really. I would get mad and frustrated even if you used the most gentle words. I was taught to believe that what I am is something bad, but when I think better now and learn to accept myself more and be open to whatever this is, I feel I have a direction now. You called it Nature, right?"

"Yes."

"Can you teach me about it, or is it something I also need to discover alone?" She asks.

"I can. Would be my honor, even if I’m not capable of feeling Nature the way you do." He answers, with a smile that he didn’t show for a long time.

Astri can feel burning gazes on them and her mates were staring from a distance. She giggles.

"Those three. Sorry, they’re very protective and jealous. And I think they’re feeling powerless in front of you. Let’s go back." She says.

"I don’t judge them. I would be the same way." He speaks.

They walk back and Lee tries to be the first to get to Astri, but Zin coiled his tail around her and brought her to him quickly.

"Damn it, Zin!" Lee says, angry.

Zin is hugging Astri not caring about anyone, but Astri. Deep inside snakes are selfish, and since Zin already felt her love he always wants her love.

"Don’t be sad.. We can help." Zin says to her.

She hugs him, then calls Wayde and Lee to hug them too.

"I know you worry and want to help. And you are. I feel bad and frustrated, but soon this will have a meaning. Sometimes I need to be alone to think, but that doesn’t mean I don’t love you or I don’t need you." She says.

Cyprian is already impressed again, she said she loves them. Normally females don’t express feelings because they don’t have to since their males are bound to her forever either way.

"Now stop trying to kill Cyprian with your eyes. He’s just trying to help." She says. "Did you sense us here and that’s why you came in our direction?" She asks Cyprian.

"I sensed you.. I thought I was dying to sense your energy." answers.

"What do you mean? Did you know I would help you?"

"I wasn’t looking for help. As you noticed, you are capable of connecting to Nature. That means your energy is similar to Nature’s. I didn’t know someone like you would be here and I thought I was dying."

"Wait. Connecting to who?" Wayde asks, confused.

Cyprian sits down again and calls them to sit so he can explain.
