Beastmen Love-Chapter 21: Burning Mark

Astri remembers Claud explaining about Monsters. They’re beastmen with demon souls, and they’re very dangerous.

Dieg quickly carries Astri and makes her hug his neck from his back.

Then he shifts with a jump to run with all his might between the wolf and leopard.

The leopard tried to scratch Dieg, but ended up hitting on Astri’s arm.

’Astri!! Hold on!!’ Dieg screams, worried because he’s smelling her blood.

For her it sounds like a loud whine from him.

"I’m fine!" She keeps hugging him for life.

He howls loudly, a howl to call for reinforcements. A howl from a wolf can be heard from a long distance.

Soon enough his tribe heard, and wolves went after the howl.

Dieg is being tightly followed by the Monsters, and they’re making Dieg not be capable to go back to the tribe.

Wayde was walking with many sacs on his back and arms when he felt his arm burning. He looked to his mark and his heart sank.

"Astri.."

"What is it, Wayde?"

"Astri is in danger." Wayde answers, then he shifts mid-air and runs faster than he ever ran.

The other beastmen with him could only shift and try to follow him.

Dieg can’t fight all of the Monsters, and if one of those snakes gets him or Astri they’re done for.

As they’re running, Astri sees some branches and then she raises her hand to hold onto one and pulls it. Then she let it go, letting it slap the leopard on his face. He falls back, but the others keep chasing them.

Dieg had to divert from a tree and a wolf could get to his side. Before the wolf bumps on Dieg to make him fall, Astri turns and kicks the wolf’s eye.

Whining he slows down his running. Dieg howls again, hoping that his tribe gets to them soon. He can’t risk Astri getting more hurt.

The leopard is back and then he punches Dieg’s back legs, making him stumble and fall rolling in the ground.

Astri falls too and her head is hit on a tree. She feels dizzy, but tries to stand up either way even if her head is bleeding.

Dieg rushes to her and before she jumps on him, a wolf jumps biting Dieg and starting to fight him.

Dieg bites the wolf’s neck and shakes his head strongly, gushing blood everywhere.

Astri tries not to be scared and runs to Dieg again, after kicking the leopard’s face. She jumps on Dieg and he jumps back to avoid an attack from the other wolf.

Dieg goes back running, until he finds a river.

He needs to think fast, so he decides to jump into it, but before he could do it a snake’s tail hits on his legs and he falls again.

Astri falls off again and she hears her left arm cracking, and a sharp pain grows. She didn’t have time to cry when she saw Dieg being held by a snake in a coil embrace.

The snake then bites Dieg’s shoulder and Astri cries with Dieg, like she was feeling his pain but on her spousal mark.

She finds a broken branch and she runs to the snake and strongly jabs the snake’s eye and it falls dead because Astri could hit it’s brain.

Dieg is already feeling the poison acting on him, he shifts back to human form and Astri holds him.

Then she looks to the other Monsters. A wolf, a snake and a leopard.

"Run, Astri.. Leave me here. I will stop them." Dieg says weakly.

"I won’t leave you!! Never!"

He smiles and holds her face.

"I love you. Forever." Then he pushes her into the river.

"NO!!" Astri cries.

The other Monsters tried following her, but Dieg shifted again and fought them.

Then Astri feels the worst pain she ever felt, his spousal mark burning like she was being shot and the last thing she sees is Dieg falling down limp.

She swam following the current, crying but she didn’t stop even if she was feeling her heart hurting like she was having a heart attack.

The other snake jumps into the water to get her, so Astri swims faster like she learned in school.

The other snake instinctively stopped when he saw a waterfall, Astri couldn’t stop and then she fell a long way.

The Monsters try to find her in the water, but they can only see water.

They finally gave up and left angry for losing her. A female wouldn’t survive such a high fall.

Wayde’s arm is burning like he was being put into fire. He’s running like death itself was behind him, but Astri being the only thing in his mind.

Dieg was found near the river, Shung’s heart cried seeing his son dead. Dieg was young and just got together with his mate. Shung screamed in anger.

"Sir? Look at Dieg’s mark." Another wolf says.

Everyone saw that the wolf still had the wings around him.

"Astri is alive. Go! Find her!!" Shung orders.

Half of the wolves dispersed to look after Astri. Shung orders a wolf to bring Dieg back to the tribe, Fletcher lands near them.

"Go find Astri. We will look after her. She’s still alive." Shung tells him.

Fletcher didn’t even think, he just flew away to look after her. He shifts into a black hawk and then makes a high screech.

’Go tell our leader that lady Astri and her mate were attacked by monsters. Her mate died but she’s still alive, but missing. I’ll stay here to help look for her.’ Fletcher tells the other, who was also a hawk, so he could understand even if he was half shifted.

They found the Monsters and killed them, but didn’t find Astri with them.

When Astri fell from the waterfall, she felt she had died and lost consciousness inside the water, but she didn’t see the water moving and creating a bubble of air around her.

The water brings the river down until where the water is calm and peaceful.

Her body floated to the shore and there she stayed until a light yellow very large snake appeared.
