Chapter 36: Chapter 35: Young with a Wild Heart

Seeing that Ji Liang had made the man so angry he was clenching his fists, Si Shuo pinched him playfully. "Xu Chi has always been alone. No one ever taught him, so don’t bully him."

"Little Shushu, you’re playing favorites. How am I bullying him?" Ji Liang looked crestfallen. "I’m doing this for your own good, trying to eliminate any potential threats to you."

’What does she mean, no one taught him? That’s just a cheap trick males use to deceive females. Who isn’t born with inherited knowledge?’

"Si Shuo, I mean you no harm," Xu Chi said, looking at her with determination. "I just want to become your Beast Husband."

’This is giving me a massive headache. It’s impossible to keep things fair between them!’

"I know. I’m hungry and I’m going back to eat. Do you two want to come along?" she asked with a smile.

Ji Liang and Xu Chi exchanged a look, then both turned their heads and started walking back to the tribe, flanking Si Shuo.

However, Ji Liang quietly took her hand and intertwined their fingers. He gently caressed the back of her hand with his fingertips, wordlessly expressing the heartache of their separation.

Si Shuo lowered her gaze, a faint blush rising to her cheeks.

Out of the corner of his eye, Xu Chi saw their joined hands. He paused for a second before reaching out to take Si Shuo’s other hand, intertwining their fingers in the very same way!

Si Shuo froze, completely stunned. Her attention was being pulled in two different directions. ’The affection of two handsome men is a heavy burden to bear...’

During the meal, both Ji Liang and Xu Chi were roasting meat for her. Si Shuo used her knife to slice a bit from each of their offerings, placing the pieces into her wooden bowl alongside half an ear of roasted corn. She kept her eyes fixed forward, eating with exceptional gusto.

After laughing and chatting with the other females for a while, Si Shuo found herself being pulled back to her hut by Ji Liang.

Three people were now squeezed into the already small hut.

Her males weren’t the type with brawny, exaggeratedly bulging muscles. Instead, they were lean and tall, with an incredibly strong presence.

They say that beauty is best viewed by lamplight. In the residual glow of the bonfire outside, the two males on either side of her looked particularly alluring. One was languid and full of Charm, the other aloof and ethereal.

’You could pick either one, and he could make his debut on the spot based on his face and physique alone!’

Xu Chi looked at her with his typical aloofness. "I’ll go heat water for your bath."

The moment Xu Chi was gone, Ji Liang pulled Si Shuo into his embrace. He cupped her chin, caressing it gently. "Little Shushu, has my arrival made things difficult for you?"

"No. It’s just that I don’t know how to treat you both at the same time. I don’t want either of you to feel wronged, and I wish I could just split myself in two," Si Shuo mumbled, nestled in his embrace. "The two of you alone are already enough to have me spinning like a top. I have to use all my wits just to appease you both. When Zhi Le gets here, I..."

’Not to mention I’ll have to accept more Beast Husbands in the future. Why didn’t I ask the System for an infinite cloning Skill back then!’

Ji Liang smiled, unable to resist kissing her forehead. The soft, warm touch made him want more, and for the moment, he pushed aside all the things he had wanted to say.

He tentatively continued his kisses, moving down to the tip of her nose, then her cheek. His gaze was scorching as he watched her expression, and finally, his lips found hers.

As a Snake Beastman, he had never known his Mother and did not understand the concept of familial love. The struggle for survival had begun when he was still just an egg.

If he hadn’t fought to be the first to hatch, he likely would have ended up as a meal for his older brothers. So, he broke out of his shell first and made his younger brothers his first meal.

Everyone said that a Snake Beastman’s Father was the first enemy they must defeat and kill in order to grow. Ji Liang’s own inherited knowledge confirmed this; to become strong, he had to follow the rules.

But if he followed that path to its end, he would inevitably be defeated and killed by his own children!

Therefore, when he had fought his Father to the point of near death, Ji Liang left. He decided to become a trader, not only to grow stronger but also to use the wisdom gained from his travels to supplement his own inherited knowledge. He also hoped to find a female he would protect with his life.

He yearned so desperately for warmth, for a home...

The little female in his arms was soft and fragrant, indulging his forwardness while responding with a shy and clinging affection. How could he not be utterly delighted?

"I’m sorry, Little Shushu. Until we officially become your Beast Husbands, none of us will feel secure. We ended up causing a scene and bothering you," he said, pulling her contentedly into his embrace, letting her listen to his heart thumping erratically for her. "Don’t you worry about it. This is our problem. It’s the first time for all of us being Couple Brothers, and we just haven’t gotten used to it yet."

Si Shuo hummed in acknowledgment. "Ji Liang, you came all this way to find me... what about the Traveling Merchant Team? Are you going to go back?"

Ji Liang chuckled, a soft hiss escaping with the sound. "My little female was abducted. Why would I give a damn about a Traveling Merchant Team?

I’m not going back. Besides, I was just about done with my work anyway. I’ve already handed off everything that needed to be taken care of.

From now on, I’ll be waiting to become Little Shushu’s Beast Husband and will always stay by your side!"

Si Shuo looked up at him. ’In all the history she knew, romantic entanglements were just a temporary phase for men; they always had far greater ambitions and aspirations.’

’Her Beast Husbands were all incredible Beastmen. They shouldn’t just revolve around her, like ordinary males.’

She smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Then let’s go to the Central Continent and build our own commercial empire! I want to open restaurants, become a landowner, set up shops..."

Ji Liang froze for a second. Seeing the starlight glittering in her eyes, he let out a low laugh. "I never would’ve thought our Little Shushu would have such a wild heart for someone so small. I love it! Fine, we’ll go to the Central Continent.

But, before that..."

Si Shuo’s expression soured, and she slapped a hand over his mouth. "I know what you’re going to say. The journey to the Central Continent is long and perilous, and the Beastmen there have very high Combat Levels.

I understand all that. We’ll work hard together and try to establish a foothold in the Central Continent as soon as we can."

Ji Liang nodded, his slender eyes filled with delight. ’Doing what you love with the little female you love... what more could a Beastman ask for in life? No regrets!’

Just then, Xu Chi came back in, carrying the heated water.

Si Shuo shooed the two males outside to stand guard. The weather here was drier and the vegetation less dense than back in the Luoni Tribe, so the wind was full of sand and dirt.

On top of that, Xu Chi had a Wind Ability and had just gotten into a fight with Ji Liang, leaving Si Shuo covered in a layer of dust.

After she had washed up, Ji Liang carried the used water out and dumped it, taking the opportunity to hang up the clothes she had just washed.

Xu Chi sat on the bed, letting Si Shuo rest her head in his lap. He condensed a small, gentle gust of wind in his palm and began to dry her hair with it.

"Si Shuo, I shouldn’t have hidden my true strength from you. It made you worry and feel afraid."

Si Shuo smiled, gently stroking his brow. "I know. You wanted to give me a big surprise, didn’t you? The fact that you’re so powerful... I couldn’t be happier!"

Xu Chi’s tense body finally relaxed. "Si Shuo, if you’re ever unhappy in the future, you have to tell me. If there’s something I’m doing wrong, I can change."

Si Shuo hummed in agreement. "Don’t worry, I’ve got a mouth on me. And I’m the type who has to get to the bottom of things. I’ll never let my anger last overnight."

Hearing Ji Liang’s approaching footsteps, Xu Chi took out a Level 8 Crystal Stone, crushed it between his teeth, and transferred its power to Si Shuo.

Ji Liang lifted an eyelid, then sat down next to Si Shuo.

Xu Chi explained to Ji Liang that he was helping Si Shuo temper her meridians.

Ji Liang hadn’t realized Si Shuo also had a superpower, but he didn’t ask about it. He and Xu Chi each took one of her hands and began channeling their Spiritual Power into her meridians, starting the second cycle of tempering...
