Beast World: A Fragile Beauty Blessed with Many Children-Chapter 302 - 301: Don’t Tell Me They’re Too Late
The roughly two hundred and fifty Bone Marrow Cleansing and Vein Cutting Pills had been distributed among the Iron-eating Beast Clan. After the males remaining in the Beast City each took one at night, the plateau their cultivation had been stuck on for years was shattered. The elixirs expelled toxins and impurities from their bodies, repeatedly tempering and refining their flesh, sinews, and bones. Old, hidden injuries they had carried for years were mostly healed, and they felt utterly refreshed and comfortable.
This was especially true for the clan’s elders, each of them a sage or a powerful Warrior over a hundred years old. The Bone Marrow Cleansing and Vein Cutting Pills erased most of the marks of time from their faces, making them look decades younger! It was just like formatting a phone that was a few years old and restoring it to factory settings.
They all suppressed their cultivation, holding back from breaking through to the next stage to avoid scaring away the audacious and greedy Rogue Beasts.
After Si Shuo finished replicating the Bone Marrow Cleansing and Vein Cutting Pills, she began attempting to replicate the Substitute Pearls. She could only create one per day, but she was quite content with that. ’As long as I can make them, that’s all that matters.’
After half a month of study and practice, she had mastered how to draw Transformation Talismans and Attack Talismans. As she learned and continuously practiced talisman making, her spiritual power noticeably increased. Consequently, her other abilities also subtly rose by a Half-step.
The weather was now muggy and hot. The occasional rain barely had time to soak the ground before the sun would eagerly burst from behind the clouds to unleash its heat.
Si Shuo and the others rushed to plant a batch of fast-growing vegetables before the rainy season arrived.
Her family had become the trendsetters for the city’s farmers, who all followed their lead and planted various autumn vegetables. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
Guangshou City was as peaceful and bustling as ever, but a hint of worry and vigilance now touched people’s faces. It was the calm before the storm, and a heavy, oppressive feeling hung in the air.
Both inside and outside the city, major plans were being discussed in private. Life outside the city walls was simply too harsh. ’The rainy season and the coldest season are almost here, and most of us Rogue Beasts haven’t stored nearly enough food. These two extreme seasons are especially long, and we can’t just get by on hibernation alone. We need at least four or five months’ worth of food!’
’But the Beastmen inside the city are living in luxury. One day, a family is getting married and throwing a banquet; the next, another is having cubs and handing out celebratory red eggs.’
’Every little celebration grated on their nerves, which were already raw with resentment for the rich.’
’In the end, they decided to take a desperate gamble. If they attacked in overwhelming numbers and made it clear they were only targeting the Iron-eating Beast Clan, surely no one else would risk meddling.’
Having worked out the details, they set the time for their attack: the night five days before the hunting parties were scheduled to return.
The night was as black as ink. With the rainy season approaching, the sky was thick with clouds, and the stars and moon flickered in and out of view. Nearly three thousand males from outside the city, all with decent combat power, had gathered. Each had endured years of hard labor, and beneath their strong bodies and seemingly honest exteriors beat exceptionally fierce, cruel, and insatiably greedy hearts.
They entered through the city’s west gate, which had been left open for them by a Beast Soldier they had turned.
"Alright, we’ll head straight for the Iron-eating Beast Clan as planned. Xiao Wu, you and your group scout ahead. If you see any patrolling Beast Soldiers or males awake in the night, warn us immediately. Remember, before we take down the Iron-eating Beast Clan, we must make the other Beastmen trust us. Our only target is the Iron-eating Beast Clan. We’ll let them lower their guard, then we can take advantage of the chaos to grab some loot..."
"The Iron-eating Beast Clan only has one or two hundred members on guard. There are three or four thousand of us. Even if we just charge right in, we can easily capture their females and cubs... After that, they’ll be putty in our hands, won’t they?"
Everyone nodded grimly. In any case, as long as they could plunder enough food to live comfortably for the next six months, they would be satisfied.
After squeezing through the main gate one by one, hunched low, they shifted into their Beast Forms and sprinted into the night, completely unaware they had been detected by the Clock Vines nestled at the base of the wall.
The Clock Vines could emit all sorts of strange noises, including ultrasonic frequencies that ordinary Beastmen couldn’t perceive. As each Clock Vine heard the call from its kin, it too began to shriek.
In areas beyond the hearing range of the Rogue Beasts, the Clock Vines let out audible, agitated screeches, waking all the nearby Beastmen!
This was the agreed-upon signal for help. All the Beast Soldiers immediately assembled into patrol teams. Twenty percent of them headed to the Iron-eating Beast Clan’s land to provide support, joined by other powerful males who were not soldiers.
The moment the Rogue Beasts entered the city, Si Teng had already tipped off Si Shuo’s group. Ji Liang was in the valley watching over the cubs, Xiao Cheng had joined the defense of the Iron-eating Beast Clan Land, and Xu Chi held Si Shuo as they watched, invisible, from the sky.
A wide trench of traps had been set up in a circle just inside the walls of the Iron-eating Beast Clan Land. Usually, clan members walked on temporary stone slabs that solidified over the traps. Now, those slabs were gone, and an Illusionary Array had been laid over the trench!
The Rogue Beasts sprinted along the main road with practiced familiarity, doing their best to remain silent. After more than half an hour, they finally arrived outside the Iron-eating Beast Clan Land.
Perhaps because of the night’s chill, a thin layer of fog had risen at some point. Even so, they could still faintly make out the vast expanse of the Iron-eating Beast Clan’s territory in the pale moonlight, and the sight made their hearts burn with greed.
’Once we wipe out the Iron-eating Beast Clan, we can move in and live here!’
’Imagine it: bright, spacious houses with clean courtyards, numerous shops and fields, an entire mountain of bamboo forest, and all that livestock... not to mention the females who would flock to them just to get a full meal.’ How could they possibly hold back? One by one, they pulled their specially made collars up over their mouths and noses.
They lit a type of dried grass with a powerful hallucinogenic effect and vigorously fanned the smoke toward the Iron-eating Beast Clan’s territory. They kept at it for a full half hour. When the smoke grew so thick they could barely see ten feet in front of them, they stopped and eagerly began to scale the wall.
Xu Chi held her as they hovered in mid-air, a Protective Shield insulating them from the smoke below. Si Shuo’s night vision was excellent. She watched as the Rogue Beasts dropped from the wall one after another, like dumplings into a pot, and plunged into the trench. Before they could even make a sound, they were pierced by the Sharp Spike Wood Spirits and instantly knocked unconscious.
Three to four thousand people sounded like a lot, but the Iron-eating Beast Clan’s territory was immense—its perimeter alone was tens of thousands of meters long. They had attempted an encirclement, but the result was that no single spot saw more than a few of the "dumplings" drop in at once.
When the rescue parties arrived, the Iron-eating Beast Clan Land was eerily silent. Everyone’s heart clenched. ’Don’t tell me we’re too late,’ they thought. ’Has the Iron-eating Beast Clan been wiped out?’
"This is bad! Everyone, be careful! There’s something wrong with this smoke!" someone shouted, their face paling as they stepped on the still-smoldering dried grass. But it was too late; ahead of them, some males had already succumbed and collapsed.
A chill went through everyone. If it were a one-on-one fight, they were confident they could beat the Rogue Beasts. But they had forgotten the very definition of a Rogue Beast—a person with no bottom line. To achieve their goals, what dirty tricks *wouldn’t* they use?
