Chapter 26: Chapter 25: When Did This Person Get Here?

Si Shuo had taken a nap in mid-air, and this Crowned Eagle Beastman still hadn’t stopped to rest!

She redeemed a pair of protective goggles from her supermarket, adjusted their position, and made them appear directly on the bridge of her nose.

With the goggles on, she could finally open her eyes comfortably. π—³π—Ώπžπ•–π˜„π—²π•“π—»πš˜πšŸπ•–π₯.πšŒπ• π•ž

Her vision was now filled with vast stretches of lakes and low-lying forests, dotted here and there with the occasional Beastman Tribe. But they were flying so high that her shouts would only serve as entertainment for the Crowned Eagle Beastman, a way to break his boredom!

Si Shuo yelled at the top of her lungs, "Hey! Sir! My lord! Aren’t you tired? Don’t you want to take a break? I’m hungry! I’m thirsty! I have to pee!"

She felt the Crowned Eagle Beastman’s head move slightly. Her eyes brightened, and she continued shouting.

"Please, take a rest! What could a little female like me possibly do to you?

My body is frail. Are you trying to freeze me to death, or starve me? This is too cruel...

You’ve already flown so far, are you still afraid I’ll escape?

I’m hungry... I’m starving to death...

Did you go through all the trouble of capturing me just to torture me like this?"

Finally, the Crowned Eagle Beastman snorted coldly and flew toward a nearby mountain range. He landed in an abandoned cave on a cliff and set her down.

Si Shuo had just put away her goggles and hadn’t even had time to react before he shifted into his human form, still pinning her arms. He dragged her over to a nest of scrap grass in the cave and found a vine to tie her up.

Her mouth twitched. In a deliberately weak voice, she said, "Sir, don’t you think you’re being a little too cautious?"

The male before her had messy, grayish-brown hair and cold, pale skin. His aquiline nose was particularly striking. He cackled sinisterly.

"I’m not like that foolish Gray Wolf Beastman. The more fragile and weak something looks, the more cunning it is.

I saw you take down two Beastmen with a single move. I won’t give you any chance to try that on me!"

Si Shuo nodded vaguely. "My body is very weak. Everyone in my tribe knows I won’t live long. Why did you even bother capturing me?"

The Crowned Eagle Beastman was surprisingly straightforward. "We Rogue Beasts just gathered to attack your tribe. Whoever was capable enough got to snatch a female.

I’ll go hunt for you.

And don’t even think about escaping. If you fall from here, you’ll either be smashed to death or captured by the other Rogue Beastmen below.

I plan on making a life with you, but I can’t say the same for the other Rogue Beastmen!"

After speaking, he didn’t dare say more to the little female. He spread his wings and flew down, confident that a female with her arms bound, halfway up a cliff, had absolutely no way to escape.

Si Shuo walked to the mouth of the cave and sat on the ground, watching the Crowned Eagle Beastman fly away. A short while later, however, he flew back to check on her. Seeing her sitting there obediently, he finally flew off to hunt with his mind at ease.

A sharp knife materialized out of thin air in Si Shuo’s hand. With a slight bit of force, the blade sliced through the vine.

She peered down at the dense, low-lying forest below. From this height, it was almost impossible to see the ground. In other words, as soon as she entered the forest, the Crowned Eagle Beastman would lose his advantage.

Si Shuo took out a large, thin sheet of Beast Skin from her space. After poking small holes in the four corners, she shoved her hands and feet through them as far as they would go.

Standing at the cave entrance, she first took out a compass to get her bearings. Then, taking a deep breath, she leaped off, spreading her limbs like a flying squirrel.

Si Shuo’s heart was about to leap out of her throat. Gravity pulled her down at a terrifying speed. But within two seconds, the rushing wind billowed out the Beast Skin, slowing her descent and giving her the novel sensation of flying!

She swayed her body from side to side, controlling her direction as she glided into the distance.

Soon, she fell through a gap in the canopy. Branches caught the Beast Skin she was wearing, leaving her dangling and bouncing a few times about ten feet from the ground.

Si Shuo was reluctant to part with this piece of Beast Skin. It was the snakeskin Ji Liang had shedβ€”light, waterproof, and easy to care for. It was perfect for making clothes in hot weather, and it even shimmered in the sunlight, looking both stylish and beautiful.

She struggled, swinging back and forth, up and down. Finally, with a few sharp snaps, before she was mentally prepared, she landed face-first in the grass with a SPLAT.

Si Shuo didn’t dare to delay. She wiped her face, spat out the grass in her mouth, and put away the Beast Skin. Looking up at the identical scenery all around, she mentally praised herself for being so clever.

She took out her compass, and after confirming her direction, she headed north with the knife in her hand.

Earlier, while persuading the Crowned Eagle Beastman to stop and rest, she had spotted a sizable tribe to the southeast.

Although she was a lone female, as long as she could find a tribe, her safety wouldn’t be a concern given her status.

Once she was settled, she could draw a map for Zhi Le to let him know she was safe and that he could take his time finding her.

After putting some distance between herself and her landing spot, Si Shuo took a quick bite of a brown rice ball. To save herself trouble, she had made a large batch of them, filled with carrot sticks, cucumber sticks, pickles, and meat floss, with a squeeze of salad dressing, all individually wrapped in plastic.

The temperature was just right when she took it out to eat. She scooped a bamboo canister of sheep’s milk from a barrel she had boiled and drank it, then finished her meal with a piece of fruit.

While her food digested, Si Shuo gathered some medicinal herbs nearby and even found a patch of Stinkbug Grass. This grass had an extremely foul, pungent smell that mimicked stinkbugs, and its taste was sour and bitter, making it unbearable for Wild Beasts and Beastmen alike. There wasn’t a single insect or ant within several yards of it.

However, this grass was actually an antidote herb that could also strengthen the body and prolong life. The only catch was that it was extremely picky about its growing conditions and so domineering that only one clump could survive at a time in a given area.

Si Shuo collected the Stinkbug Grass, picked a few leaves, and, enduring the headache-inducing stench, smeared them all over her body.

’Heh, I might not be able to hide my own presence and scent, but the sense of smell of Beastmen and Wild Beasts is so sharp that they’ll avoid me from a distance as soon as they catch a whiff of this.’

Covered in the foul odor, Si Shuo continued on her way, sticking to the cover of the trees. The enraged shrieks of the Crowned Eagle Beastman from above served only as her personal cheerleading squad, making her legs move even faster.

Just as she was approaching a small river, she felt a faint tremor in the ground. In the distance, a Beastman shouted, "He went that way! After him! He’s just a Level 3 Combat Power Beastman, how dare he steal a Level 6 Crystal Stone right under our noses..."

Si Shuo could feel a group of Beastmen running in her direction.

She hastily looked for a place to hide. Running was out of the question; she couldn’t outrun them in their four-legged Beast Forms.

Spotting a thicket of bushes, she condensed thorny vines as she approached, weaving them into a basket. She only had time to hastily grow a few green plants on it for camouflage.

She leaped behind the bushes, squatted cross-legged, and slammed the basket over her head. Breathing a small sigh of relief, she peered out through the gaps.

’Since there are Beastmen here, it means I’m close to a tribe. But I can’t tell if they’re friend or foe, so I can’t just reveal myself!’

"Ugh, it smells like Stinkbug Grass here. It’s so pungent, my head feels dizzy. Let’s get out of here quickly..."

For Beastmen, whose sense of smell was exceptionally sensitive, the odor was overwhelming. Even Si Shuo, who was wearing a mask, felt a little light-headed.

She shook her head smugly, then turned and met a pair of cold, bewildered eyes!

Si Shuo’s smile froze. Her round, almond-shaped eyes flew wide open. ’When... when did this person get here?’
