Beast Taming: Starting From Zero-Chapter 694: Sand King
“There’s probably going to be a big battle coming up. We just have to hold out for 83 minutes.” Qiao Sang said as she glanced at the countdown on the virtual panel.
“Gang Guard.” Seeing the pairs of angry eyes glaring up at them from below, Gangbao immediately understood and showed an interested expression.
"Yap!"
Yabao called out excitedly, and his body slowly began to grow larger.
Seeing this, Qiao Sang quickly stopped him, "Don't get bigger!"
Under a wave of white light, Yabao’s body, which had expanded to about a meter tall, immediately froze, then slowly shrank back to his original size.
"Yap?"
Returning to the size he had during the Fire Fang Dog phase, Yabao called out, looking confused.
Wasn’t there going to be a big battle? Why couldn’t he get bigger?
If he had returned to his original massive form, half of the incoming freshmen who came wanting to teach her a lesson might have turned around and left immediately... Seeing Yabao transform back in time, Qiao Sang felt slightly relieved.
It wasn’t that she looked down on the other freshmen. It’s just that having a general-level pet among freshmen was like having the absolute peak of battle strength. If it were her, she wouldn’t waste time picking a fight with someone who had a general-level pet, she’d find someone of similar strength to battle and earn points more efficiently.
After all, there wasn’t much time left in the assessment.
But Lubao was nearby, and her mental state had only just started improving these past few days. If she bluntly explained this, she might upset Lubao again... After thinking it over, Qiao Sang said:
"Others don’t know your true strength. If an opponent gets close, you can catch them off guard."
"Yap!"
Hearing this, Yabao immediately showed a serious expression.
He understood!
"Xun xun?"
Little Treasure stored the loudspeaker into his ring, then looked toward the approaching pets who were either using skills or the simplest method, holding umbrellas, to move toward them. He called out, asking whether they should really allow the enemies to get so close?
He had been invisible outside this whole time, so he naturally understood his Beast master's intentions.
"Of course not." Qiao Sang said, looking down at the various types of pets below.
"Next, it’s up to you all."
"Lu."
As soon as she finished speaking, Lubao took a step forward, opened her mouth, and spat out a misty white fog.
The fog spread out like thick smoke, quickly blanketing everything ahead.
Immediately after, a massive stream of water gathered around Lubao, and her entire body became like a huge blue water column, diving down from the rooftop.
Qiao Sang stood atop the building, overlooking everything below.
Although a white mist covered her vision, she could still see the blue light shifting trajectories under the fog as Lubao moved.
As the blue light shifted locations, the cries of injured pets echoed from below.
---
"It’s Icy Wind! Does anyone have a pet that can create wind skills? Hurry and blow this mist away!" A black male student shouted urgently from beneath the eaves.
"You think you need to remind us?" A brown-haired girl next to him glanced at her pet.
"Gale Eagle, Gust!"
"Gale!"
A massive eagle-type pet, over three meters tall with gray-black feathers, stepped forward, spread its wings, and flapped hard.
A fierce wind whipped out, sweeping away everything in front.
At the same time, other pets using similar wind-type skills appeared.
It was just a mid-level skill with decent mastery, but so many advanced pets were using high-level skills just to deal with it... Qiao Sang couldn't help but sigh inwardly at the spectacle below.
Soon, the thick white mist was dispersed, revealing the fallen pets scattered across the ground.
"Little Treasure." Qiao Sang called.
"Xun xun~"
Without needing further instruction, Little Treasure immediately understood. He called out, and his eyes glowed blue.
In the next second, Lubao reappeared nearby.
"Lu."
Lubao stared intently at the scene below, her tail flicking lazily, clearly still not satisfied.
About five meters away, tiny patches of sand began surfacing from the ground, slowly creeping toward Lubao.
---
Under the eaves.
A pimply-faced boy leaned casually against the wall and said:
Follow curr𝒆nt nov𝒆ls on fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com.
"You guys just focus on distracting her. My pet has already reached her position. Once my Sand King ties up that water-type pet and interrupts the Ice Flower Seal, you can all charge at once."
The others looked slightly dissatisfied when they heard this, thinking, We’re all freshmen. Who are you to boss us around?
A boy wearing a cap snorted coldly.
"Even without you, I can get through."
He signaled to his pet beside him, about a meter tall, with light purple fur and white bone horns on either side of its head.
"Drum drum."
The bone-horned pet called out and instantly vanished from its spot, reappearing at the rooftop.
However, just as it appeared, dozens of black, ribbon-like shadows shot out and bound it layer after layer, flipping it upside down and suspending it mid-air.
The boy's face darkened. He tried to recall the pet with a wave but found it impossible.
Soon, he saw his pet spinning like a top at high speed, completely obscuring its original form.
The boy silently covered his face.
Meanwhile, the pimply-faced boy laughed.
"I told you, my Sand King was already in place. Still, thanks for helping attract that ghost-type pet’s attention."
The cap-wearing boy snorted again, refusing the offered truce.
The pimply-faced boy continued smugly:
"That water-type pet’s Ice Flower Seal looks like it's reached the Ultimate Skill level. If you try to approach it head-on, you’re just giving away points. Listen to me. My Sand King can use any sand-covered object to travel anywhere-"
As he spoke, he suddenly froze, and his voice cut off abruptly.
"Why did you stop talking?" The cap-wearing boy asked after waiting a while.
The pimply-faced boy frowned as he stared at the rooftop.
"She has another high-level pet that's not weak at all..."
---
One minute earlier.
On the rooftop.
Small patches of sand slowly surfaced and crept toward Lubao.
A pet with a white face, a prominent nose, and tiny yellow bean-like eyes peeked out of the ground, staring fixedly at Lubao.
Suddenly, it sensed a gaze on itself.
The Sand King sharply turned its head, locking eyes with a bird-like pet that seemed to wear a white mask.
"Sand-"
The Sand King put a claw to its mouth, signaling for silence.
"Gang Guard."
Gangbao stared silently at it for a second, then raised a wing and pointed, calling out to indicate that there was an enemy here.
The Sand King: !!!
Before the Sand King could react, a searing burst of flame shot toward it.
They’re working together... The Sand King closed its eyes in regret.
At the same time, the sand patch that had nearly reached Lubao scattered.
