Beast Taming: My System is Bugged-Chapter 55 - 54: If You Don’t Evolve with Pills, What Are You Waiting For?
Gu Ming returned to the classroom. He never expected that after arguing for so long, the three teachers would ultimately entrust the Visualization Image to him for safekeeping.
All three of them wanted the Visualization Image, but there was only one original.
Leaving it in the temporary care of Cyan Treasure’s Beastmaster was the most secure option.
This was because Cyan Treasure was the founding ancestor of this Cultivation Technique and had no use for the Visualization Image.
Furthermore, keeping it with Cyan Treasure would allow the Visualization Image to be further nourished.
Gu Ming felt the latter reason was the more important one.
It seemed Teacher Xu was certain this Cultivation Technique’s quality could be improved even further, to the point that the Visualization Image would be recorded in the Hall of the Great Dao.
Once the Visualization Image was recorded in the Hall of the Great Dao, it would mean the image possessed power on the level of Great Dao Insights. It wouldn’t be surprising for its value as a collectible to multiply severalfold.
And because the original was in his care, Teacher Xu would spend the next three days drawing copies—one for each of the other teachers—to stop them from fighting over it.
Gu Ming sat down and had Cyan Treasure continue its Cultivation.
This was a practice class, so everyone was cultivating. The Pet Beasts practiced Breathing Spiritual Qi, while the students cultivated their Spiritual Techniques.
Gu Ming’s future version of the Cyan Pine Skill was too unique; in the real world, he had to rely on elixirs to cultivate it.
Therefore, he didn’t cultivate now, saving it for his Dream Realm Cultivation at night.
Because Gu Ming wasn’t cultivating, he had the free time to observe his classmates’ progress.
Wang Teng’s Dumb Flower was cultivating very quickly. Through his Little Cyan Snake’s vague senses, Gu Ming detected that its Mana had increased by a couple of points; it probably had around 40 Mana Points now.
’He must have popped a lot of pills lately.’
As for the other students, the ones making noticeable progress were those whose Pet Beasts ranked in the top ten of the class.
Gu Ming saw Teacher Luo of the Practice Class wandering around the classroom. He suddenly stopped in the aisle of the third row, holding an aquamarine Elixir Pill in his palm.
The Red Flame Fox cub lying on a desk had reached a critical point in its cultivation. Its brows suddenly furrowed, and its whole body began to tremble. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
A burst of sparks shot out from its tail, which it couldn’t control, scorching half a workbook.
"You’ve been eating too many Fire Spirit Peppers, haven’t you? I told you not to overdo it; it affects your cultivation speed. Open wide. Teacher will help you deal with that excess heat."
As Teacher Luo spoke, he flicked his finger, shooting the elixir into the fox’s mouth.
At the same time, a palm-sized, Three-star Level Clear Ripples Jellyfish emerged from his sleeve.
Its transparent tentacles wrapped around the Red Flame Fox’s tail, and a sizzling white mist filled the air—the jellyfish was extinguishing the flames darting across the fox’s fur.
Gu Ming vaguely recalled that this was no ordinary Water Element Pet Beast. The Clear Ripples Jellyfish had Elixir Pattern markings on its body, classifying it as a relatively high-end type of Pill Pet that could help both humans and Pet Beasts digest elixirs.
And just like that, after being doused with water, the Red Flame Fox had a bright, water-colored mark imprinted into its body by the jellyfish.
In an instant, the rampaging Fire Spiritual Qi inside the Red Flame Fox was transformed into gentle Fire Spiritual Qi by the jellyfish.
Teacher Luo then tapped several of its acupoints and said, "Resume your Cultivating Technique and refine the Spiritual Qi."
The Red Flame Fox nodded and resumed its cultivation. Its condition quickly returned to normal, and its progress became incredibly fast.
The nearby students opened their eyes to watch. Some, with expectant looks on their faces, waved to Teacher Luo, hoping he would also check if their Pet Beasts had eaten something wrong or if there was room for improvement.
A small number of students looked disappointed.
The Jellyfish Pill Pet allowed elixirs to take effect immediately, bypassing the slow process of digestion.
Gu Ming didn’t see any money change hands, but he was sure the students with elated expressions had probably paid for this service back home.
This kind of financial transaction wouldn’t be conducted openly. To the average student, it would just look like Teacher Luo was tailoring his instruction and offering a helpful boost with an elixir.
Just then, Teacher Luo finished helping Zhou Ruoyun’s Pet Beast. She had just finished her own cultivation session and opened her eyes.
"Thank you, Teacher."
Zhou Ruoyun checked on her Pet Beast cub and was surprised to find that the elixir from just now had provided a great deal of pure Spiritual Qi, allowing her Red Flame Fox to cultivate much faster.
"Don’t worry. I’ll check on everyone’s Pet Beast one by one, so there’s no need to rush."
Teacher Luo said breezily as he walked to the next student and continued to give guidance.
Cries of amazement sounded one after another throughout the classroom, and Gu Ming watched with great interest.
He didn’t envy their choice, because his system was already displaying the cultivation status of the teacher and all the students’ Pet Beasts.
Just reading the cultivation logs on his system was enough for him to decipher a vast amount of information about cultivation.
"Teacher Luo of the Practice Class fed Zhou Qingyun’s Pet Beast a ’Gentle Spiritual Energy Pill.’ The elixir is Water Attribute and yin-aligned. Using a Water Element Pill Pet, he harmonized the Fire Spiritual Qi in the Pet Beast’s body, reducing the chaos and stabilizing its out-of-control Cultivation Technique."
"Teacher Luo of the Practice Class fed Pu Ni’s Pet Beast a ’Large Calming Pill.’ The elixir is Water Attribute and neutral. He once again used a Water Element Pill Pet to soothe its state of spiritual frenzy, reducing the mental chaos caused by over-consuming Spiritual Elixirs and putting its Cultivation Technique practice back on track."
"Teacher Luo of the Practice Class..."
One classroom, dozens of students, and all the Pet Beasts were in their Juvenile Stage, yet their cultivation situations were bizarrely diverse.
If a Pet Beast’s cultivated Spiritual Qi was too volatile, it had to be neutralized by adding Spiritual Qi of another attribute.
This sparked an idea for Gu Ming.
As it happened, Gu Ming had been wanting to research cross-attribute cultivation today.
A Great Dao Insight from his Wood Escape Ultimate Skill flashed through his mind, giving him a flash of understanding. He looked over at Cyan Treasure.
Cyan Treasure was also practicing its breathing, drawing large amounts of Grass Attribute Spiritual Qi from the air into its belly.
’If it’s going to cultivate Earth Attribute Spiritual Qi, it needs to make this Grass Attribute Spiritual Qi more potent and then add Earth Attribute Spiritual Qi to create a counterbalance. That’s how it can cultivate Earth Element Skills across attributes.’
’But the Mana in Cyan Treasure’s body was already overflowing. No matter how much more it cultivated, the Mana would just spill out of its body like water from a full glass.’
’I have to find a way to train it further, to compress its Mana.’
Coincidentally, the arrival of Teacher Luo gave Gu Ming a glimmer of hope.
Just then, he saw the system’s notification area update:
"Teacher Luo of the Practice Class passed by Cyan Treasure, casting a surprised glance."
"He hadn’t expected such an ancient Elder Dragon to still be toughing it out, trying to train its Mana. A pity its methods are so crude; it makes one shake their head in disapproval."
"’Might as well just buy an Evolution Pill,’ he muttered, shaking his head. ’Times have changed. Evolving with pills saves time and energy. It’s old, so there’s a high chance of failure, but with that lifespan... it’s a toss-up whether this Elder Dragon will even survive another week.’"
As if on cue, Teacher Luo arrived at Gu Ming’s side.
He glanced at Cyan Treasure. Its overflowing Mana was so dense that it stood out in the entire room, making it hard to ignore.
"Your Pet Beast is ready to evolve. Want to buy a Condensing Pill, a Body Shaping Pill, and a Spirit Raising Pill? Have it consume all three, and it won’t even need to train its body. It can evolve right here on the spot. Teacher can oversee it for you."
Teacher Luo offered a standard evolution plan: use the power of the elixirs to temporarily boost the Little Cyan Snake’s physical and spiritual strength, and finally, use the Condensing Pill to proactively help it condense its Mana into a core, saving a great deal of effort.
Of course, all the steps above required a Pill Pet to help facilitate the process. The Little Cyan Snake alone couldn’t possibly make perfect use of the combined effects of all three elixirs.
"Teacher, I’d like to wait a bit longer. It’s still young, it can keep training."
Gu Ming replied offhandedly, his eyes on a conversation from the system’s future timeline.
