Beast Taming: Invincible Breeder-Chapter 323 - 298: Slime Calamity?
Just like that, the Left and Right Pirate Kings sat quietly in the Hidden Dragon Temple for a month.
This month of waiting wore their nerves thin.
Even though kings have transcended mortal needs and do not require food, they wouldn’t starve, but the endless waiting was truly grueling.
How long would this fog last?
Two months? Or three months? Or perhaps a year?
Or maybe ten years?
Or even a hundred years?
Or could it be forever?
The most anxiety-inducing thing was not knowing how long the fog would last.
The Left Pirate King asked, "Brother, should we keep waiting?"
The Right Pirate King gritted his teeth and replied, "Wait!"
The Left Pirate King asked, "Brother, do you think someone will come to rescue us?"
The Right Pirate King answered, "No, our subordinates are pirates. You know what pirates are like better than anyone."
The Left Pirate King said, "I’m not talking about our subordinates, but the people from the enemy alliance."
"They definitely won’t. The enemy alliance was formed to take down Li Shiji, not to concern themselves with unrelated matters."
The second month.
The eyes of the Left and Right Pirate Kings were bloodshot.
"Brother, should we still wait?"
"Wait a while longer."
The third month.
"Brother, should we still wait?"
"...Wait."
The fourth month.
"Brother..."
"Don’t say it, let’s not wait any longer. Instead of waiting here to die, we might as well venture into the Thousand-Layered Small World. Perhaps with some luck, we can make it out."
"That’s all we can do."
The Left Pirate King sighed.
The Right Pirate King encouraged the Left Pirate King: "Brother, lift your spirits. The Thousand-Layered Small World is not a place of no return. In history, more than a hundred people have emerged from the Divine Concealment Forbidden Land. We will not be trapped here forever."
The Left and Right Pirate Kings walked towards each other with the intention of holding hands and entering the Thousand-Layered Small World together.
Before their hands could touch, they both disappeared from the Hidden Dragon Temple and entered the Thousand-Layered Small World.
Since their hands never touched, they each entered different small worlds.
In a daze, the scenery around the Right Pirate King changed.
The ancient temple turned into a lush forest.
The Right Pirate King heard the sounds of battle nearby and curiously walked in that direction, pushing aside the branches.
A crescent moon-like lake appeared before him, and on the opposite shore, a group of Green Turtles were confronting a group of Water Slimes.
The Green Turtles, entirely green with a distinctive bald spot on their heads, resembled Japanese kappa, looking rather ugly.
The leading Green Turtle was noticeably larger than the others, clearly the leader of the group.
The leader’s face was full of disdain, picking its nose impatiently as it attempted to drive away the Water Slimes.
Suddenly, the Water Slimes attacked.
The Three-Star Water Slimes formed neat rows and launched water bombs at the Green Turtles.
The water bombs rained down like a shower of arrows, exploding on impact and blasting the surrounding Green Turtles into disarray, sending them fleeing in panic.
The leader Green Turtle suffered the worst, being the first to fall under the concentrated fire of the Water Slimes.
After three volleys of water bombs, few Green Turtles remained on the battlefield, with the surviving ones diving into the lake, and some terrified ones frantically swimming to the opposite shore, climbing up and fleeing deeper into the forest.
Watching the Green Turtles scatter underfoot, the Right Pirate King found it somewhat interesting.
He had seen many battles between pet beast tribes at sea, but this was the first time one side consisted of Slimes.
Suddenly, he recalled the time when the Divine Concealment Slime self-destructed in the Hidden Dragon Temple, forcing him to endure four months in the fog, and his expression darkened.
His impression of the Water Slimes quickly soured.
The Right Pirate King emerged from the bushes, heading towards a massive tree that three adults couldn’t wrap their arms around.
Behind the tree hid a Medicine Gatherer, peeking out to watch the battle of Water Slimes on the far shore.
In the Thousand-Layered Small World, it wasn’t just pet beasts; there were also humans.
The Right Pirate King took out a human-skin mask, with a face that appeared very friendly, and patted the Medicine Gatherer on the shoulder.
Startled by the sudden pat, the Medicine Gatherer jumped.
The Right Pirate King said, "Brother, don’t be nervous. I mean no harm."
The Medicine Gatherer regarded the Right Pirate King cautiously, his wariness unconsciously lowering at the sight of the harmless face.
"Who are you? I haven’t seen you around the nearby villages."
"There are actually villages here!"
"From your tone, you’re not from around here? Which world are you from?"
A network of interconnecting space passages existed between the Thousand-Layered Small Worlds, allowing people from other worlds to sometimes arrive.
The Right Pirate King answered, "I’m from the Divine Beast World."
The Medicine Gatherer replied, "Obviously, we’re all from the Divine Beast World."
The Right Pirate King clarified, "I mean I’m not from another small world, but someone who accidentally entered the Divine Concealment Forbidden Land."
The Medicine Gatherer stared strangely at the Right Pirate King, making him feel very uncomfortable.
The Medicine Gatherer said, "The alliance marked a warning line around the Divine Concealment Forbidden Land, and you still managed to stumble in."
The Right Pirate King responded, "No, I was caught up by the Divine Concealment Forbidden Land appearing in the suburbs..."
The Medicine Gatherer said, "The ones in the suburbs are easy to deal with! Just standing still for a while ensures safety. The Hidden City Alliance widely published coping methods, and you still got trapped, brother, I don’t know what to say to you. That’s just too dumb."
The Right Pirate King fought the urge to smack the Medicine Gatherer.
The Right Pirate King questioned, "You’re so clever? Didn’t you also get trapped and fall into the Thousand-Layered Small World?"
The Medicine Gatherer said, "I didn’t get trapped. My parents did and fell into the Thousand-Layered Small World. I was born here."
The Right Pirate King quickly changed the subject before his violent nature and four months of frustration led to murder. He pointed to the lake shore where the Water Slimes were resting and asked.
"What’s going on over there? This is the first time I’ve seen Slimes beating other pet beasts."
The Medicine Gatherer pulled the half-exposed Right Pirate King back behind the tree and whispered, "That’s the Slime Disaster. Be careful not to be seen and bring trouble."
"Slime Disaster?"
The Right Pirate King found it amusing. Since when did pathetic little Slimes become a disaster?
"Yes! A Slime Disaster. Don’t underestimate those Slimes. I heard they’ve wiped out three Silver Pet Beast tribes."
Hearing this, the Right Pirate King was incredulous.
Could he really believe that Slimes, soft and cute with no combat power, could defeat and wipe out Silver Pet Beasts? Three tribes, no less?
What an international joke!
