Beast Evolution System: Devourer of Heaven-Chapter 336: Prologue Of War
Mei Juan was an elder of the Heavenly Dipper sect at the same level as him but she was stronger.
Everybody knew this elder was amongst the weakest elders of the Sword sect but Mei Juan was in the top 5 of the Heavenly Dipper sect.
Mei Juan landed next to Xingchen who looked at her like she had seen a ghost, she had sneaked off thinking nobody would notice.
Yet here stood an elder of her sect, she immediately understood all of her actions were seen through by her father.
" Lady Xingchen, I recommend you stay back, I don't want you caught in the crossfire."
Xingchen pouted but still retreated, she grabbed Muyang and pulled him back to the village.
The poor kid was still dazed by everything that was happening.
" Fang Chu, I suggest you take your disciples and leave." Mei Juan threatened, she was stronger than he was but killing him here would really start a war, she didn't want that.
Fang Chu gritted his teeth, " You dare threaten me in the territory of the sword sect?"
He didn't back down, realising a fight was inevitable Mei Juan took out a mirror, this was her vessel.
The mirror of all seeing. Fang Chu turned around to leave when he saw that, he summoned the giant sword treasure and told the disciples to climb on.
Mei Juan in her cautious nature activated the mirror of all seeing and saw Fang Chu attacking.
The attack was sudden and without warning, she watched the entire village being ripped apart by his sword energy.
The only survivors were her and Xingchen. Seeing the vision through the mirror she tried to change it but it was too late.
The mirror couldn't show her too far into the future so by the time she saw the vision it was already too late.
She managed to cast a barrier of star energy but it was flimsy as it was cast hastily. The crescent sword light cut through the barrier like it was glass.
Mei Juan sighed with pity, she didn't exactly care about these mortals but she was also not a fan of seeing innocents die.
Just as the sword light was about to hit the village it suddenly shattered into countless fragments and disappeared.
Nobody understood what had just happened except Naledi. She smiled softly with pride.
" You're smarter than expected." The one who had shattered that sword light was the golden dog.
Even though it was merely a demonic beast it appeared to be more intelligent than other demonic beasts.
It could at the very least understand her orders. She had told it not to reveal its power unless necessary.
This time it was not necessary, the dog had the power to save the boy and the entire village without any of them knowing and it did.
It casually waved its fluffy tail at the sword light sending a wave of invisible energy that shattered the attack.
Before Fang Chu could react he felt a strong force land on his chest, a protective treasure took the brunt of it saving his life. He couldn't figure out where the attack came from.
So naturally he suspected Mei Juan but she looked just as confused. Fang Chu looked around and saw nobody else.
Without another choice he took the disciples of the sect and left, he was deeply terrified that that an expert was hiding somewhere nearby.
Mei Juan knew a war was not avoidable now and tried to take down Fang Chu but his flying sword treasure was too fast. She watched him disappear into the horizon.
He rushed back to the sect as fast as he could to report the news. Mei Juan did the same.
She too had learnt what brought that coward here and found it interesting. After sending a message she went to check on the cave.
Mei Juan knew there was something or someone extremely powerful here as seen by her not being able to see them through her mirror.
In her vision Fang Chu's attack had destroyed the village meaning her mirror couldn't account for whatever or whoever had interfered.
Muyang led her and Xingchen to the cave, when they saw the egg they couldn't help but exclaim.
Xingchen couldn't help it and jumped to hug the giant egg. Muyang panicked and shouted at her to stop.
He had seen what happened when somebody touched that egg. However his warning came too late.
Neither Mei Juan or Xingchen had time to react, just as Xingchen was about to touch the egg she came to a stop.
Her body floated in the air and then landed back down. All three of them were confused but a suspicion grew in Mei Juan's mind.
She bowed down, " Thank you senior." She shouted with a shaking voice, she was certain now that there was an expert around.
Most definitely a nascent soul, or higher, Mei Juan was privy to certain information. She knew there were realms above nascent soul.
Not in this world, this world had extremely weak laws and thin essence, it was impossible to reach a realm above nascent soul here.
However both her sect and the sword sect were mere branches of higher sects from the outer worlds.
Since the worlds had now merged into a single continent she supposed they were called outer domains now.
She wished to go there one day, to progress further in her cultivation path but she knew that was a pipe dream.
With her talent, the most she could achieve is nascent soul. She turned her attention back to the egg.
Outside, Naledi watched everything from above the clouds. She was the one who had saved that little girl, " Only this once." She whispered.
Ever since reaching rank 6, she had felt detached from the lives of those weaker than her.
Their individual life and death no longer felt as meaningful but she did not notice this change.
To her, interfering too much felt unfair, while she was still adamant about protecting humanity and a whole from external threats.
She felt she should not interfere with conflict amongst themselves. All of these changes felt natural so she did not notice.
But as she was growing stronger she was moving further and further away from humanity or rather mortality, her mindset changed as well.
She watched the three people inside the cave searching around, picking up herbs and fruits.
Muyang picked up more fruits for himself and his family. Then Mei Juan led them out.
She suspected the Sword sect was close to reaching this place and she was right.
She saw their giant flying swords heading towards the village. Fortunately the Heavenly Dipper sect had better travel means.
So even though they were further away, they reached the place almost at the same time.
A war of the two strongest sects in this domain was about to start, Naledi took out popcorn to watch the show.
