Beast Evolution System: Devourer of Heaven-Chapter 292: Through the Dreaming

Ved and the herald crashed on a dark dilapidated city whose crumbling buildings were covered in spider web.

Massive spiders could be seen throughout the entire city. The moment the four of them appeared the spiders turned towards them.

Ved and Naledi could feel parts of themselves in this place. " We’re in another nightmare." Naledi whispered.

Ved already knew that the moment they went through the dream crack. He felt them jump into another dream.

The spiders all over the city turned towards them and attacked like they were in a frenzy. The dreamer of this nightmare looked confused.

The herald stopped attacking her and went to the version of them that just arrived. In this nightmare he was a building sized spider.

Instead of attacking them the spider merged with the herald and his power grew stronger and closer to his full strength.

Ot at least his full strength under the limit of the world. Realising this Naledi and Ved summoned and merged with their parts as well.

This left the confused dreamer alone, all the spiders were gone and so were her two protectors.

Ved spun and slashed his tail at the herald who raised an arm to block. The entire city shook and the ground split apart.

The dreamer disappeared, having probably woken up. The two of them continued exchanging blows through the entire city.

The herald pointed a finger at him and the next instant a gaping hole appeared on his chest.

The wound healed in a blink of eye, before he could adjust chains materialised out of of thin air and bound his body.

Using that opportunity the herald tried to attack Naledi. Her divine flame blasted and blocked his attack.

Ved infused dream mist into his eyes and saw what the herald was doing. He was manipulating the dream realm.

There was no invisible attack, he created the wound directly on Ved with only a thought. Naledi only managed to block because divine flames were immune to the heralds changes.

Ved responded in kind, using his dream mist he created scissors and cut the chains then tried to change the nightmare they were on to a place more advantageous for him.

Of course the herald tried to do the same. The nightmare couldn’t withstand their power and shattered, they appeared in another. This one had countless insects flying through the sky and covering the earth like a carpet.

They crashed down killing billions of them, they merged with their selves who were in this nightmare as well and so did the herald.

They fought so hard the sky shook, lightning and nuclear energy covered the entire dream world. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

Fortunately Naledi managed to protect the boy and the dreamer of this nightmare long enough for the dreamer to wake up.

As they fought, the nightmare started cracking around them. Before they could react they found themselves in another dream.

One of war and death, they did not remain long there, the more fragments of themselves they merged with the less time the nightmares managed to withstand their power.

They destroyed and went through a thousand dreams. During that entire he noticed the herald focused less and less on him.

His target was the boy and Naledi. While Naledi was strong her power was limited in the dream realm, even less than his by a little.

The only reason she can even hold her own is because of her divine flame but most of her abilities were severely weakened.

So holding the herald back was left to him to handle. The herald created a massive sword and slashed it at the boy, " If I can’t kill you little walker, let see if I can kill the one you’re so foolishly in love with."

The herald knew Naledi would try to block the sword, she was his target from the start, Ved stood Infront of it and grabbed it with his hands. His scales shattered and blood poured out but he didn’t care.

He yanked the sword pulling the herald towards him. Then stabbed him with his horn.

Before the herald could respond, Ved kicked off the ground and rammed him against a mountain like a truck.

The mountain shattered into pieces and they found themselves in an endless ocean having appeared in another nightmare.

A single ship could be seen rocking on the sea surface trying to survive the raging waves.

A storm shook the entire ocean as lightning bolt brought occasional light to the dark ocean and the moonless night sky.

However none of that had anything to do with Ved. Naledi continued running with the boy.

He rammed the herald on the ocean floor like a speeding train. The sea shook and the ground crumbled.

Steel pipes flew through the air, smoke rose to the sky and an explosion that shook the earth followed. They were in some industrial factory.

Ved saw a glimpse of an ugly man with knives for fingers. The man grinned at him, he knew it was the herald.

The herald stuck to his horn punched him on the face, his head was yanked back almost breaking his neck.

Then he turned back like a spring and bit the herald. Blood poured into his mouth and he felt his tongue burn like he had drank acid.

The nightmare around them shattered into fragments. They appeared in a battlefield of zombies and humans.

’ Jonathan.’ Ved thought to himself, he could see the guy standing on top of the city wall looking at them with confusion.

Ved knew this wasn’t a new nightmare, it was the exact one they faced before which pissed him off, that fool was still having the exact same nightmare after so many years.

The two fragments abandoned Jonathan and merged with them increasing their strength but so did the herald.

It kept ripping Ved’s body to shreds but he would heal immediately after. Their battle went through thousands of dreams.

However he was finding it harder to keep up, the herald was growing stronger faster than he was.

Before long he would be overpowered which would not bode well for any of them. Naledi realised that too.

Flames ignited on her eyes and they coated her sword as well. She created an ice golem to protect the boy and jumped to help him.

" Ahhhhh." With a shout she tried to cut off his head. However the head disappeared on it own catching her off guard.

While confused she was kicked on the chest, Ved tried to grab the herald to stop him from attacking her but failed.

She coughed up blood and flew back, then crashed on an massive iron ship. Plasma guns fired around them.

They appeared in what looked like an alien invasion and the humans were certainly losing.

Ved attacked the herald with his lightning and nuclear beam straight to the face. Just as they were about to hit him.

A dark spiral appeared over his body devouring both the lightning and nuclear beam which caught Ved by surprise.

The herald was right to his face, stuck to his horn yet still managed to defend against his attacks.

Suddenly the herald stomped it foot on the ground bringing both of them to a stop. No matter how hard he tried he couldn’t move him at all.

" AHHHHHH." The herald roared shaking the entire dream. The nightmare shattered like glass fragments.

He expected them to appear in another dream but instead, they appeared in the endless space of the dream realm.

" Shit."

" By the old gods we’re fucked."

Both he and Naledi cursed at the same time.
