Chapter 290: Chapter 290: Prelude To The Nightmares End

Naledi continued telling the story of the princess and the prince which was really about them.

She told her how they grew together and fell in love, how she watched him grow kinder with each passing day.

Then her voice changed and grew sadder, she told her about how the princess lost the prince thinking she’ll never see him again.

How she was lost and drowning in despair, how her friends gave her hope, they reminded her that although she had lost her heart.

There were still those who needed her, those who loved her and would feel the pain she felt if they lost her.

That gave her a reason to live and carry on. Because of that the princess was united with her prince once more. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

White cried even harder then smiled softly at Naledi. " Thank you big sis Nally." Then the nightmare ended.

While the nightmare of White had ended the night had not. He and Naledi continued fighting against the herald in hundreds of millions of nightmares.

This might sound cruel but he was glad the population had dropped from over 20 billion to only about 2 billion.

Otherwise they would’ve had to split more of themselves thus weakening themselves even further.

In that situation they wouldn’t be able to defend against the herald and more people would die.

Then he thought about it again and realised there were also downsides to such a low population like the lack of armies.

Fortunately Evergreen and a group of biologist were working on a fertility pill that would increase the fertility of both humans and beasts.

If it’s successful they would be able to use it on demonic beasts as well thus increasing the food production.

Of course the most important ingredient was still his blood since it had the highest resistance to dark particles and was able to strengthen the body.

Unfortunately Naledi couldn’t give out her divine flames or the success rate would’ve went by a lot.

The night ended, they repeated their daily routine. Bath followed by breakfast, those who died in the dreaming had their families compensated.

Time passed, Ved decided to check his status screen.

It has been around 7 years since the herald of nightmares descended and during that entire time nothing new had happened.

He had expected more from the herald of nightmares but he was greatly disappointed. They had been doing the same thing every night.

Over and over again for years, he was getting bored and so was Naledi. " Another night of this." Naledi complained the moment the sun rose.

He sighed, " It’s getting monotone." He whispered and she nodded. The only upside to this was that they were getting stronger.

She had reached the peak of rank 5 in terms of essence energy volume. At least 10 percent of her image was solid.

She had met all the requirements to rank up, unfortunately until the next wave she was stuck.

The world wouldn’t allow her to exist here if she was rank 6. He on the other hand was slightly above 50 percent when it comes to evolution points.

Prey was scarce which wasn’t an issue since he was not in a hurry. The next wave was years away.

However his soul had grown significantly stronger in the meantime. Everytime they defeated the herald.

It was as if they absorbed a part of him thus growing stronger themselves. This was especially true for him.

For Naledi it was her soul that grew but for him, his dream mist grew alongside it. He could feel it becoming denser and more abundant.

With it he was able to effect the dream realm more effectively. Since dream mist was technically poison the poison sac grew stronger and wider as a result.

" Perhaps we should try something different tonight." He told her and her attention was drawn.

" What do you have in mind?" She asked with interest. He grinned with his massive spear like teeth.

" We are the order of Crimson, may the world turn to blood in the name of the one unnamed."

A group of four people shrouded in long black robes shouted as one. " I greet you my brethren.

It had been long since we received word from the great one beyond but now we have once more."

A man whose face could not be seen said with a cold voice. The others listened attentively.

" I’ve received a revelation from beyond, the time for the descent of the lord is imminent. Before long the dream will end and the world shall turn red.

Now go, spread chaos and blood in preparation of the lord, however be warned, do not draw the attention of the Fate Ripper or the Mourning Snow or that will spell your end."

" May the world turn to blood in the name of the one unnamed." They shouted again and left to return to their daily lives.

At the same time, a group of humans and beasts all wearing long black robes with hoods and plain black masks entered a small town in Europe.

However nobody saw them, the one leading them was carrying a compass like artefacts.

" Are you sure this the place commander?" A man asked the leader. The leader nodded.

" The compass says so and you know who created it, do you think those monsters would be wrong about this?"

The man looked down in embarrassment and fear, he wouldn’t dare disrespect those two or he wouldn’t even know how he died.

He could already feel death stares from his own teammates. Ambre the leader of this group sighed.

To think she a queen was forced to do such a task, it was humiliating but she couldn’t dare say no.

Not to that monster, everybody knew how cruel he can be to his enemies and she didn’t want to be on his bad side.

Night drew closer, before the hour of sleep came, a human figure appeared in the dream realm, even the herald didn’t sense their presence there.

The figure stood Infront of a massive creature of black sand. The creature was bound by unbreakable chains.

" Hello there my little one." The figure greeted with a soft loving voice like a mother seeing her child.
