Beast Evolution System: Devourer of Heaven-Chapter 288: Daily lives of Royalty (2)
Avery and Adeline found the people they were supposed to find. Ved ordered their families be given compensation.
Food, clean water and essence absorption pills which help speed up ones cultivation without any side effects as long as it’s not overused.
While the dark particles of the herald of plagues were slowly disappearing, dark particles themselves were growing in number.
It would appear each herald brought a wave of dark particles. While the ones from the herald of nightmares had different effects than the ones from the herald of plagues, they still had similarities.
The herald of nightmares couldn’t cause natural disasters like earthquakes with his dark particles like the herald of plagues but he still corrupted the world.
So naturally anything that needs to absorb energy or nutrients from the world itself, like plants would struggle to grow.
As such, growing food had become a nightmare again. Water was a natural element of the world and as such was corrupted just as much as the wind and the lands.
The most terrifying thing about these particles though were their ability to put people into sleep.
The herald of Nightmares can only act in the dreaming so he had to put people to sleep. It didn’t matter how strong you were, there was no resisting.
Even people like Vermilion and Linglong were effected. Of course they were able to take care of themselves.
Their wills were so strong they were able to fight the herald by themselves without the assistance of Ved and Naledi.
Not that Ved would ever in a million years help Vermilion. Hell, if killing people in their sleep didn’t make the herald stronger he might’ve helped him kill Vermilion instead.
Even Naledi who was an angel hated that guy to absurd levels. Ved was just happy for that woman Alya from removing herself from Vermilion’s side.
If she had continued to stay by him, she would’ve ended up dead because one day Ved will kill Vermilion, that was a promise he made to himself.
He and Naledi on the other hand could resist because of his dream mist. Using it he can shield them from the sleeping effect.
" Come." Naledi dragged him by his arm, pulling him out of his thoughts.
" Where are we going?"
" To a tailor to buy you new clothes."
He looked at himself. " What’s wrong with my current clothes, they’re made with my web you know?"
She looked at him. " Exactly, they’re basically the same clothes, you need a change in style once in a while."
He sighed, " This is pointless, you know I can’t remain in human form for long so new clothes are useless to me."
" Well, we’re still going." She dragged him to town with maids following behind them. Everywhere they went in town people greeted them with smiles.
He was already revered by his people and they respected her as their queen but now after they learnt she fought alongside him to defeat the previous herald.
And still fighting the recent one, they basically worshipped her as well. Some even gifted them baskets of fruits even though food was rare.
Naledi and Ved accepted it to not disappoint them. They went to multiple boutiques but bought nothing.
She fancied nothing there which was understandable. While spiritual beasts most remained in their humanoid forms in cities they were still beasts.
Some of those forms had animalist parts and some were very huge. Most clothes in their cities were designed for them.
However since the new alliance between the races, travel between their cities was common so there were still shops tailored for humans, just not many.
They took a teleportation formation to New Paris. It was larger and more beautiful than old earth Paris.
Spiritual beasts and humans could be seen walking around the streets. It was a strange sight.
Ever since the arrival of the herald of nightmares night and day had become uniform across the entire world.
Time was perfectly aligned for every corner of the earth. The moment the two of them arrived through the teleportation formation with the entourage.
Three humans and a single spiritual beast of the tiger race appeared to welcome them. These three humans were the guardians of this region.
They controlled New Paris and multiple smaller cities and towns, to be more specific they were subordinates of the French Queen.
Madame Ambre de Habsburg. A direct descended of the house of Habsburg, the tiger was a friend she made during the earlier years of the fall.
She saved his life from the jaws of a demonic beast. Spiritual beasts tend to be loyal and grateful.
So he swore his life to hers. The four of them greeted with a polite bow. " Greetings your highnesses, my lady Madame Ambre de Habsburg the 1st welcomes you."
The oldest looking of them said with a french accent. After the fall the line of Habsburg was start over with Ambre as the first queen.
While she wasn’t as strong as monsters like Cat or Angelica she was a very powerful figure amongst the humans with a strong vessel.
However her real power lied in her ability to make allies. While the world was at peace, she still managed to create a European Alliance separated from the world alliance.
This alliance of theirs created an army of their own, unfortunately their numbers were low because, well a lot of humans died recently.
Naledi smiled at the old looking butler. " Send our regards to her highness, however you need not bother yourselves, we’re here not on official business but to take a break a stroll around."
They bowed again and disappeared. " Do you think they’ll leave us alone?" Naledi asked. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
" Of course not, Ambre was raised as nobility even before the fall, she’s paranoid.
People like us are a threat to her so she’ll definitely keep an eye on us."
Naledi looked confused. " But we’re not going to attack her."
Ved smiled at her naivety, she was still very trusting of people. " We don’t need to do anything to threaten her Naledi.
You see, the greatest threat to a ruler is having their people love and respect somebody else more than them and we my sweet angel, are very beloved."
Ved was of course right because right now the butler was reporting to Ambre.
" So what’s their intentions?" Ambre asked with worry.
" It seems they’re shopping my lady." The butler replied. He had been following Naledi and Ved.
Of course both he and Ambre knew they couldn’t spy on those two monsters without them finding out.
However she gambled that they won’t take offence at being followed since it was harmless.
’ Shopping? Doesn’t make any sense, night is not far, shouldn’t they be preparing to battle the herald in the dreaming, there must something we’re missing.’
" Keep watching them." She ordered.
" I would prefer not." They suddenly heard a voice behind her."
