Kai whistled as he walked to their hotel. However, much to his surprise, he saw someone sitting on a nearby bench just right outside the court.

A small smile made it’s way to his lips as he went behind Lina. He covered her eyes with his hands, and the young woman instantly knew who it was.

His hands were warm, rough, and a tad bit sweaty. However, she didn’t mind.

Lina shook her head and gently removed his hands away from her face. "I know that it’s you, Kai," she said before turning around to meet his gaze.

For a moment, it felt like her breath got caught in the back of her throat. With the sun behind his head, it gave Kai a different glow. He looked like a lead actor in a sports youth drama!

It had been a while since the two of them decided to just stay as friends. However, not a moment passed by when Lina didn’t find Kai charming.

She cleared her throat and looked away, not being able to take his gaze.

"You waited for me?" he cheekily asked.

Lina pursed her lips and nodded. "Yeah," she muttered. "Yuze went off with Coach Muchen, while Jinping, Andy, and Jet went to an internet cafe. The other guys went back to the hotel."

Kai chuckled in amusement. "And you waited for me because?"

Lina smiled. "Because you deserve a treat!"

Kai raised one eyebrow in inquiry. "How do you say so?" he asked.

"Well, you didn’t get the most shots for this game. Andy’s been improving his three-point shots, so that’s expected. However, you’re still the MVP of the game."

"You read their plays as if you were the one who wrote them!"

Kai pursed his lips to hide his smile. "Like I was the one who wrote them, huh?"

Lina excitedly nodded. "And the weaknesses you identified were legit, too. I thought you were bluffing in the first half because they weren’t really apparent. However, by the last quarter, they all resurfaced!"

"Not to mention, the no-look shot you did at the very end was also really cool. I thought we were going to have an overtime," she chuckled.

Kai watched as she continued to rant happily. He couldn’t help but find her cute at times like this.

Before he could stop himself, he placed his hand over her head and gave her a small pat.

Lina’s eyes widened in surprise.

"What…was that?" she skeptically asked.

Kai cleared his throat and slowly retreated his hand away. "Nothing," he muttered. "You did a great job, too."

Lina shook her head. "As if," she said. "You’re doing a better job leading the game than I do."

Kai shook his head, too. "That’s only because it’s with the Guardians."

"Why?" Lina asked. "Did you spend a long time learning the Guardians’ play style?"

Kai placed his fingers under his chin. "You could say that," he smiled.

"Anyway, you’re going to treat me, right? Where do you plan on taking me?"

"To this cute cafe I found," Lina excitedly said. "I heard that the food is really good—and it’s affordable, too. Do you want to go? Or are you going to train again?"

After their games, Kai would usually train for an hour or so. However, it wouldn’t hurt to have a rest day, right?

So, he shook his head. "I’m free," he said.

"Nice," Lina muttered and led Kai to the cafe she was pertaining to.

However, it wasn’t as easy as Lina had anticipated.

It seemed like the universe really had something against them when they suddenly came across Suzy.

"There you are!" she exclaimed as soon as she saw Kai. "I’ve been looking for you everywhere."

The two of them halted as Suzy went next to Kai.

Kai pursed his lips. "Why were you looking for me?"

"To congratulate you, duh," she smiled. "You’re onto the semi-finals! Oh, and I wanted to give this too."

Suzy handed Kai an ointment of some sort. "It’s for your muscles," she quickly explained. "My dad uses this, and it helps with his muscle aches. You should use it, too."

Kai thought it was actually useful, so he nodded and placed it inside his pocket.

"Thanks," he muttered. He was about to leave with Lina when Suzy spoke once again.

"So, where are you guys going?" she asked.

"Let’s go, Kai," Lina said, but Kai responded.

"To Little Cafe," he said. "We’re going to celebrate our win."

Lina pursed her lips and glared at Kai. However, the latter didn’t even notice. Instead, he looked completely clueless.

Was this guy born yesterday?

Lina sighed and massaged the bridge of her nose. Meanwhile, a knowing look passed by Suzy’s face.

"A celebration?" she asked in pleasant surprise. "Well, it was a really awesome win. You don’t mind if I come, right?"

Suzy stared right into Lina’s eyes as if she was challenging her.

Lina felt annoyance course through her veins.

Kai remained silent, merely scratching the back of his head.

Suzy chuckled. "Oh, well, since the three of us are friends, I was wondering if I could come. I also wholeheartedly support the Shizi Dogs, you know?" she cheekily smiled.

"Or is that not allowed?" she asked.

Lina let out a small chuckle. "Of course, it’s allowed," she said through gritted teeth, taking Kai by surprise.

"It is?" he muttered.

"We are friends," Lina emphasized. "So, there’s no harm with you joining us."

"Really?" Suzy challenged. "It looks like you don’t mean it, though."

"Now, you’re putting words into my mouth," Lina chuckled.

"I’m sorry," Suzy unapologetically said. "It just came out that way. However, since you seem really sincere, I shall join you guys. I’ve been wanting to try that cafe since I came here anyway."

"Sure," Lina said, a smile on her face mirroring that of Suzy.

Meanwhile, Kai, who was in between them, was in utter confusion. The two girls were smiling, but why did it feel like they were ready to grab each other’s throats?

With that, the two of them held onto Kai’s arms—Lina on her right and Suzy on her left.
