Basketball System: Rebound of the Underdog-Chapter 341: A Series Of Congratulations
Kai couldn’t believe it.
As he walked out of the gates of the community, he didn’t even hear the guard telling him to hurry.
Instead, his mind was focused on the fact that he missed such important signs.
Bo was Xiaobo—Yuze’s brother.
The two of them lived in Richgate, where Coach Guanyu also lived.
Coach Guanyu was Yuze’s dad.
At that moment, it felt like a lot of things made sense. The tension between the two had always been thick, but Kai attributed it to the fact that Yuze used to play with the Knights during his past years.
As he walked back home, he paused for a moment to internalize the situation.
"It must be tough," he muttered.
Kai didn’t know their backstory, but it seemed like they didn’t have a great relationship based on what Kai had seen.
He shook his head and continued walking, his mind still wandering to their team captain’s situation.
However, since he was so lost in his thoughts, he missed a huge rock in the middle of the road, causing him to trip and fall into a muddy puddle.
Kai’s eyebrows raised as he sat in the cold puddle. It didn’t occur to him immediately.
He looked down at himself and saw that his white shirt had been drenched with mud. Aside from the disgusting feeling, all he could think about was how his grandma was going to scold him for staining his clothes.
"Really?" he exclaimed, looking up at the heavens like it was the reason for his fall.
He sighed and shook his head before standing from the muddy puddle.

Kai pursed his lips.
He gained more XP, but at what expense?

Monday came quickly, and before Kai knew it, he was walking through the gates of Shizi High.
He was early this time, a habit he incurred from one of his past missions.
He closed his eyes for a moment to enjoy the cool breeze.
It was an unfamiliar feeling.
Every time he came to school, his mind was preoccupied with the Interhigh Preliminaries and nothing more.
Now that it was over, he felt a sense of relief yet dread at the same time.
He was happy that it ended with somewhat great results, but he also knew that something else, the Nationals, was just right around the corner.
As he continued walking through the school grounds, he didn’t miss the looks he was receiving from his schoolmates.
"Kai, great job on the game last weekend!"
"Make sure to nail it in the Nationals!"
"Some of us are going to watch the games in Beijing!"
"Please consider joining our club next year."
Kai stopped in his tracks as soon as he came across a familiar person.
He narrowed his eyes at Justin, who looked at him with bright eyes.
Kai shook his head in amusement. "You already know that I’m deadset on basketball, Justin."
Justin pursed his lips before sighing in defeat. "It was worth a try," he muttered.
"Anyway, the last game was really epic. I didn’t think basketball would be so fun, but you proved me wrong, kid."
Kai smiled.
"I still believe you have talent in football, but I also think that basketball suits you very well," he continued.
"Tell Yuze my congratulations, too."
With that, he shook Kai’s hand and went on his way.
Kai felt a stream of happiness course through his veins. He continued his way to his classroom when he was stopped once again.
"Suzy," he muttered.
The pretty blonde girl looked up at him with blinking eyes before giving him an item—a keychain of some sort.
He looked at it more closely and saw that it was a basketball keychain.
"What’s this?" Kai asked.
"It’s a gift," Suzy said, avoiding his gaze. "For your victory during the finals."
"We didn’t win," Kai deadpanned.
Suzy clicked her tongue and grabbed his wrist before placing the keychain in his hand. "Just take it. You were the MVP, too, so let’s just say that it’s for that."
Kai pursed his lips and observed the keychain, wondering if he should take it.
"You know that I still don’t believe you like me, right?" Kai asked.
"I know," Suzy sighed. "That’s why I’m going to prove it to you."
Kai’s eyebrows raised, taken aback by the girl’s proactivity. With that, she raised her head and looked Kai in the eyes.
"It’s not over yet, right?" she asked.
Kai pursed his lips, not wanting to give her a direct answer. In his mind, he already had an answer. However, it seemed like Suzy wasn’t backing down anytime soon.
With that, she kissed her palm and reached her hand to place it over Kai’s cheek. The boy’s eyes widened, and he unconsciously stepped back. He was about to ask what that was all about when Sir Dao’s voice rang in the hallways.
"Suzy Mei!" he exclaimed.
Suzy giggled before patting Kai’s bicep. "I’m going now," she said. "That old monster is going to lecture me again."
With that, she ran to her classroom, leaving Kai to face the wrath of her dad all alone.
He was about to leave, too, when Sir Dao held onto his arm, pinning him in place.
"What did I tell you?" Sir Dao asked.
Kai raked his fingers through his hair. "I’m not doing anything, sir," he said, defending himself.
"You better," he warned. "Stay away from my daughter."
Kai nodded, feeling too tired to respond to the old man, before walking away from him and proceeding to their classroom.
As he arrived at their classroom, he was once again greeted with congratulations.
Haobin, who had been hostile to him for quite some time, gave him a nod of acknowledgment.
He smiled politely as he went to his seat.
Fortunately, he wasn’t late despite all of the distractions he encountered during his journey to their classroom.
As Kai settled in his seat, Bao tapped his shoulder.
Kai turned to him with raised eyebrows.
"Did you see?" Bao asked, worry seen in his features.
Kai frowned, wondering what was wrong.
"No," Kai answered. "What did I miss?"
"Your photos during the championships. The city’s public page posted it online!"
"They did?" Kai asked. "I didn’t see."
"Clearly!" Bao exclaimed. "You would be making a fuss if you would have seen it."
"Why?’ Kai asked, his frown deepening.
"Because you look like shit in them."
