Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife-Chapter 1367 - 1368: Attending the Banquet with Joy
After leaving the orphanage, Cheng Su and Qi Taiguo first returned to the hotel to change their outfits. Especially Qi Taiguo, who had directly lain on the ground, couldn’t go to the banquet looking messy.
Cheng Su checked her eyes, which were a bit red, and used a cold towel to soothe them. After applying makeup, she looked refreshed and asked, "How is it? OK, right? You can’t tell I’ve been crying, can you?"
It was Old Master Cheng’s birthday banquet, and there was going to be a recognition ceremony. She couldn’t attend with bright red eyes. For one, it wouldn’t look good, and for another, people might think something bad happened and you’re unwilling to be there, which isn’t good either.
"You were crying like a rabbit just now!" Qi Taiguo snorted softly, looked carefully, and said, "Yes, you can’t tell!"
Cheng Su then took another look. It was true. Noticing the time, she quickly grabbed her bag and said, "It’s time to leave, we’re going to be late!"
"Hmm." Qi Taiguo followed her out the door and said, "Tomorrow let’s find a hospital to check your health? Then we can walk around. The day after tomorrow, I have to go back to Qing City!" 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"Sure, let me ask Cheng Yaozu if he knows any good doctors!" Cheng Su replied.
The two of them didn’t take the bus anymore, but flagged down a taxi to go directly to the hotel.
The Cheng family had a reputation, so the hotel hosting the banquet was naturally a five-star hotel in Guangcheng, with a grand entrance and first-class service. The Cheng family had booked a large banquet hall and invited families close to them.
As soon as Cheng Su mentioned the Cheng family’s birthday banquet, someone led them towards the banquet hall.
The Cheng family members had already arrived, and someone was talking to Old Master Cheng. Seeing Cheng Su, they loudly announced, "She’s here, she’s back!"
Cheng Yaozong walked over and asked, "Why are you back only now? Dad was worried you’d get lost and not recognize the way back. He was wondering if he should send someone out to find you!"
Cheng Su apologized, "Went to visit someone, it took a bit longer!"
"Go say hello to the old master!" Cheng Yaozong suggested, then pulled Qi Taiguo over and said, "Some guests have arrived. Dad wants me to introduce them to you. They’re all from the military."
Qi Taiguo was taken aback and showed a bit of gratitude on his face. This was an opportunity to meet people, he thought, "Thanks, big bro!"
Cheng Yaozong paused, then laughed, "We’re family, no need to thank me!" and led him to meet the guests.
Cheng Su, meanwhile, walked up to the old master, offered her blessings, and explained why she was late.
"Your godfather almost thought you didn’t know the way back!" Old Master Ning laughed beside her, clearly aware that today’s banquet had two meanings.
Cheng Su said, "I wouldn’t do that, just ran a bit late!"
"Alright, it’s good that you’re back. Sit for a while. I’ll introduce you to some old friends later." Old Master Cheng stroked his white beard and said.
Today was his birthday banquet. The banquet hall had heating, so the elderly gentleman wore a bronze-gold traditional Chinese outfit, looking exuberant due to the joyous occasion.
Cheng Su had no choice but to compliment him a few more times, making the old master beam with happiness.
The Cheng family members were all busy hosting and socializing. Not long after, Cheng Yaozu brought Ying Xiaoya over to pay respects to the old master. The two young ones held hands and smiled, wishing him happiness, which made the old master so joyful he grabbed a pair of red envelopes from a stack on the table and gave them one each.
"A small token, wishing you great fortune. In the future, when you marry into the Cheng family, serve tea to this old man here, and I’ll give you bigger ones!" Old Master Cheng said to Ying Xiaoya.
Ying Xiaoya blushed, took them shyly, murmured a thank you, and blushed even more when she saw Cheng Su beside the old master make funny faces.
