Back to the 70s: My Childhood Sweetheart Spoils Me Rotten-Chapter 673 - 675: Happy Event
Zhan Jing, upon arriving at the courtyard house, gently declined the idea Zhuge Zhi suggested about setting up a separate yard for their family.
For them, coming over every Saturday night to stay was just to spend quality time with the kids.
Because it was the end of the semester with a lot to prepare for, they only made it today after the holiday started, thus missing quite a bit.
"The house is pretty clean." Zhan Jing intended to clean up before coming, but upon arrival, she found it all done. She really couldn’t believe how capable these kids were.
"We cleaned the house, and Grandpa Zhuge’s yard too, but the reception areas and the yard were cleaned by people from the Zhuge family," Zhao Xuran said as he moved the twins’ belongings into their side room.
When Hua Miaozhu and her family came to stay, the main house was for her and her husband, while Gong Tao and his wife naturally stayed in Gong Ruini’s side room.
Gong Ruini, holding Gong Ruzhi, was laughing happily, "Mom, can my little brother sit now?"
"Mommy, can my little brother crawl yet?"
Considering the time, the little guy has been around for six months now, and they’re not sure if he’s learned those skills yet.
"He can sit, but he hasn’t crawled yet." Cai Meina, upon entering the house, started to peel off the layers of thick clothing wrapped around her youngest son.
Gong Ruzhi, who originally looked like a little bear cub, suddenly shrunk significantly, and he couldn’t stop giggling.
Gong Ruini, not knowing if a child this age could crawl, decided to train him. She placed Gong Ruzhi at one end of the bed and stood at the other with a rattle, signaling him to crawl over.
Gong Ruzhi lay on the bed like a turtle, and upon hearing the sound of the rattle in Gong Ruini’s hand, his first reaction was to reach for it.
If they were at home, Cai Meina would promptly bring over whatever her youngest son wanted, but here, no one would spoil him like that.
Gong Ruini just stood there, waiting for Gong Ruzhi to crawl over.
Gong Ruzhi stared at Gong Ruini’s hand for a long time, then pointed at her with his finger, simultaneously looking at Cai Meina, speaking in some alien language that no one understood, hoping Cai Meina would bring him the rattle.
"Come on over," Gong Ruini eagerly awaited her little brother to crawl to her.
But Gong Ruzhi didn’t care for Gong Ruini and just kept watching Cai Meina.
"Little brother can’t crawl yet." Although Cai Meina raised the three children herself, she currently showed a particular fondness for her youngest.
Gong Ruwen grew worried seeing his mother favor the little brother over his sister in just a short time. He was genuinely concerned his sister, who had been doted on since childhood, might not handle it well.
But Gong Ruini didn’t mind. After all, he’s the youngest. Although they haven’t executed the family planning policy, word had spread, especially since Zhuge Zhi confirmed it was true. Cai Meina no longer entertained the idea of having another son.
As a result, Gong Ruzhi was getting slightly more pampered.
"Mom, think about my uncle." Seeing the reluctance on Cai Meina’s face, Gong Ruini reminded her.
Though it sounded a bit serious, Cai Meina didn’t think they’d raise such an ungrateful person. However, seeing her daughter’s and son’s disapproving looks, she gave up on the idea completely.
"I’m going to tidy things up. By the way, where’s your dad?" Cai Meina realized she hadn’t seen her husband and wondered where he had wandered off to.
"Dad went to see the house with Uncle Zhao," Gong Ruwen loudly reported Gong Tao’s whereabouts.
And at that moment, they remembered another important thing — "Where’s my uncle?"
Earlier, Cai Meina had mentioned there was a possibility that Cai Ming wouldn’t come for the New Year, as there were many chickens and quails at home, making it hard to leave.
"He’s not coming. He’s spending New Year’s Eve here, then he also has to visit people for New Year’s greetings and ends up busy at home," Cai Meina said, feeling quite happy today.
Although Cai Ming had hinted at some things to share after finalizing them, Cai Meina couldn’t hold back. While she could keep it from outsiders, she absolutely had to share the good news with her daughter and son.
"Your uncle is quite the busy man now." Cai Meina was relieved. Her brother was indeed outstanding, and wherever he went, people praised him as a good and capable young man.
Yet he was held back by difficult parents and brother. Now, finally, he had found someone who didn’t mind his family background and was competent, not timid or submissive.
With the combination of "busy man" and Cai Meina’s expression, Gong Ruini suddenly had a thought, "Mom, is my uncle about to invite us to his wedding soon?"
Gong Ruini initially thought it should have been decided earlier, but neither Cai Ming, Cai Meina, nor even Gong Tao gave any concrete news. She thought her uncle had missed another good girl, but it turns out he didn’t.
That’s great; Gong Ruini was quite satisfied, not because Wan Qiweng had a great family background, but because she truly liked her uncle and was down-to-earth, unlikely to show her uncle a hard face in the future.
Oh no, Gong Ruini suddenly remembered something important, "Is my uncle going to visit Aunt Wan’s family?"
Gong Ruwen also felt happy for Cai Ming. If he had to name someone with a blood connection to their family, besides their uncle Cai Ming, only Gong Zhuang barely counted as family.
The rest were as disconnected as strangers passing on the street. "Yeah, yeah, mom, are they easy to get along with?"
Gong Ruwen really worried if Cai Ming would face the Zhuge family’s so-called noble family treatment. Even though Wan Qiweng might treat his uncle well, would the rest of the family?
Currently, they’re just staying temporarily, and already they face a lot of passive-aggressive comments. Once his uncle marries Wan Qiweng, would people be full of sarcasm, and would his uncle tolerate it?
"Yes, they’re quite approachable, and the family is simple," Cai Meina had been frightened by the Zhuge family members and was cautious about whether Cai Ming would face a similar situation.
"Ah, mom, have you visited Aunt Wan’s house?" Just by the certainty in Cai Meina’s words, Gong Ruini sensed she must have gone to the Wan family and possibly even talked to Wan Qiweng’s elders.
OMG, Gong Ruini was stunned. Could her uncle’s marriage be progressing that swiftly? Yet, considering the times, they are considered older youth, and if they didn’t marry soon, there could be rumors spreading.
"Yes," Cai Meina didn’t see any problem with visiting Wan Qiweng’s house. "I went soon after arriving in Beijing."
Wow, could it be that even then, Wan Qiweng was already making preparations for this? Gong Ruini was shocked, acknowledging that Wan Qiweng had indeed been waiting.
