Awakening: I Ascend As A Legendary Ranked Necromancer-Chapter 88: We’ll see later
They were back in the Tower Dungeon, just outside of the Black Castle zone. I was specifically in Thayer’s tent, and right now, all I wanted to do was go back to sleep because at least I could pretend that all was well.
When Thayer realized I was awake, he called the healer, and the news also reached others. I watched them come in as the healer circulated his magic through my body.
After Temur entered, with his face set in grim lines and no one scolded him for needing the healer, I bowed my head and gripped the bed. "So she’s not yet back."
The silence that followed was heavy. The healer felt the tension in the air and began to talk. "You seem to be alright. The problem was that you pushed your body above your limits with no time to rest. Your case was easier than that big guy over there." 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
The healer was a fat man and he heaved his bulk from the chair. "All you need is mana replenishing food and rest, and you’ll be back to killing monsters."
"Mr Argent, I believe that’s all. We’ll see later."
Thayer escorted the healer out and I fixed my green eyes on Temur. "Mine was easier?"
Temur tried his best to flash a smile but it came out as a grimace. "Well, the healer has to fish out blood creatures that look like leeches from my body for like ten hours and then give me blood and all that."
I blinked. "How long was I asleep?"
"Just two days!" Thayer hurried into the room, his dressing as implacable as ever. His earring glinted sharp gold. "You’ve been resting for two whole days as your body slowly replenishes its magic. How are you Torvan?"
I looked at him. "How’s Litha?" I asked instead. I knew the answer already, but I needed to hear it.
Thayer’s smile slipped away, and his eyes narrowed; he bowed his head. "Litha...I’m sorry, Torvan, but we’ve not found it here."
My eyes glowed, and my whole body trembled; my hand gripped the bed tightly. "Temur, I’m sorry... I..if...I was stronger than I would have been able...."
"Stop." Temur’s voice was cold and it snapped in the air like frigid ice. "Do you think I don’t know? Torvan, I know you’d have saved her if you could. She’s your friend and you have saved her countless times already."
I looked up when I noticed that Temur had stopped speaking. I was surprised to see the big guy smiling. "What do you think Torvan? Won’t you like to save her and beat the shit out of the one who take her? And that bastard Kaidos."
I took a deep breath, that’s right. There’s truly only one thing to do now. We must get her back and bring ruin to those who take her. My eyes snapped with green fire. "There’s nothing I want more than that. Besides, I think it’s time to settle things with the chaos Cult."
Thayer clapped. "Then let’s plan!"
---
Later when I had eaten and washed. I wore an orange jumpsuit and sat with the others around a large table. Temur sat beside me and Cele opposite me. Others arranged themselves around as well with Thayer at the head and Cole at the other.
"Let’s begin...." Thayer Argent said.
After I collapsed, it was the Gold team that found me and Temur and dragged us out. Fortunately, they sat on the throne and claimed the zone– they told of their battle with the Walkers, and it was a bothersome one because all the members of that team were one single person, and it was like fighting a ghost.
They took us outside of the castle and began to make their way outside to the sea that would take them over but it was a difficult thing because of the monsters in the zone. Luckily, with the portal pillar gone, others were able to enter.
Tower Guards and Thayer met them and helped them cross, all the way trying to tend to Temur.
Thayer took a deep breath and raised one of the papers in front of him. "This Zone claimed a lot of lives. Too much; it’s the first on this floor. The freelance Awakeners took the most damage.
"But we won; one way or the other, the zone is now mine," his eyes glowed like sun embers. "But at the cost of a terrible loss. Litha and we almost lost Temur as well."
He turned to me and Temur. "First I would like to apologize for what happened. But I hope you know that it wasn’t my fault and the risk and how you managed it is entirely up to you."
Tension cracked in the air like the aftermath of a thunderstorm; Temur and I began to emit our bloodlust aura. The Gold team answered with one of their own, and even Thayer radiated one of his own. He made eye contact with us. "I don’t lie, do I? It was a job."
I rested my hand on Temur’s clenched fist, I took a deep breath. Once, twice. Sometimes, it seems like they all forget that Thayer is a businessman. "No. You are right Thayer Argent. It isn’t your fault, it was ours for not being able to protect our teammate."
The room returned to normal but the tension was still there. Thayer leaned back in his seat. "But you worked for me and don’t let it be known that I treat my people poorly.
"First, I will send your payments to Temur, and then I will give you any support I can on how to find the one that took Litha. Most importantly the Chaos cult," he looked at us. "They are a big organ with their roots in upper floors, but their branches even reach here."
"That’s what you want to cut right?"
I chuckled darkly. "The Chaos Cult. They have caused us pain since we entered this Tower and tried their best to kill us. I don’t know about the others but I’m going to uproot them."
