Atticus's Odyssey: Reincarnated Into A Playground-Chapter 1286: Devil
Chapter 1286: Devil
The two armies that had been roaring towards the group had stopped. No sounds left each of their lips. None of them could even so much as breathe.
Their time had suddenly stopped. And as they felt the boundless presence pressing down on each of them, they turned their trembling eyes upwards to see a figure staring down at them.
It was the same person who was supposed to be their target. The child god.
Both armies were made up of the elites of both worlds. The people whose power was only second to their god.
While the surviving champions had lived it, the others had watched the Virelenna from beginning to end. They had seen their people killed. Their god, slain by the child god.
As soon as they felt the merge between worlds, their need for revenge had overtaken all reason.
They had brandished their weapons, they had roared at the top of their lungs, all for the sake of killing the child god and avenging their gods.
But as though to remind them of their stupidity, he had simply frozen them in their tracks with only a thought.
The warriors felt their hearts pound as Atticus’ gaze bore down on them, not saying anything. In front of him were the ones who had led them, the twin, and the Amazonian archer.
They were both still. Their auras gone. Killing intent snuffed out. They gazed at Atticus with nothing but fear.
Suddenly, all over the scene, multiple groups of people materialized mid air.
One close look informed everyone that they were groups from the other worlds Atticus had acquired, the worlds of Somnera, Khelzar, and Vemirath.
They each looked startled, glancing around rapidly as they tried to figure out how they had suddenly gotten here.
But not even a second passed before they felt the boundless aura. They shot their gazes upwards, only for their hearts to freeze.
Like flipping a switch, they all went still and silent. They understood the significance of this moment.
As the silence stretched, Atticus finally moved his mouth to speak.
"My name is Atticus Ravenstein," he began, voice reaching all beings present. "Some of you already know who I am. You watched my fight against your champions, against your god, killing them. You’re angry, and you want revenge. That’s understandable. But unfortunately... none of that matters."
A cloud gathered across the skies, enveloping the world in perpetual darkness. Thunder crackled through the clouds and rain began to descend.
But it had barely touched the ground when it paused. Then, it began to ascend. Rain moved backwards.
But no one had the opportunity to take it all in before the water suddenly dispersed. Then, sunlight pierced through the clouds, dispersing them.
The sun bore down on the area like judgment. The water evaporated and the heat rose to unseen levels.
Just as the sizzling sound of flesh began burning, the weather changed once more. Despite the hot sun still shining above, the air became cold.
Every breath they took sent out cold fog from their nose and mouths.
Then suddenly, the sun receded, clouds returned, and in a weird turn of events, the coldness vanished. Instead, the heat gripped their bodies like an iron vice.
The Eldorians and every other person watching couldn’t help but turn their shaken gazes up towards Atticus. fгeewёbnoѵel_cσm
Nothing that was happening made any sense. Coldness despite the raging sun. Heat without any sight of the sun. The weathers didn’t seem to make any sense.
But as it turned out, that was Atticus’ intention from the very beginning.
"You think yourselves as the strongest of your worlds," he continued, the hearts of everyone pounding. "But your worlds don’t exist anymore. You’re in my world now. And here..."
His gaze turned heavy.
"I am its god."
Atticus allowed the weight of his words to settle. There was nothing but silence.
As he spoke those words, the weather returned to normal. Clear skies. Normal temperature. He continued.
"Your thoughts, wants, or hopes, none of it matters here. They’re irrelevant. The fact is, this world will move with or without you. For example..."
Atticus glanced at the duo in front of him, the twin and the archer. They both shook under his gaze, but they had nowhere to run.
Just as everyone began wondering what he would do... two piercing screams tore out of the duo’s mouths.
Then, everyone watched, wide eyed, as the twin and archer began squirming.
Their bodies shook violently, and their gaze widened as though they were about to pop out of their sockets.
Their eyes flashed red, and their bodies began to shrink, compressing violently. The screams that followed grated the nerves of every soul present. No one could even begin to imagine the agony they were experiencing.
Their bodies compressed further, turning into small crimson orbs, until they vanished completely.
A heavy silence descended upon the entire area. Atticus had just killed the leaders of both armies, brutally at that, and the rest of the armies had no doubts. He could do that to any one of them right now if he wanted. It was at that moment they each came to a realization.
He was the god of this new world now.
And they were all under his whims.
Atticus’ next words cemented their realization.
"If you try to fight, I’ll kill you. If you fail to follow orders, I’ll kill you. And when you’re gone, I will still remain this world’s god. I will still rule your people."
Atticus waved his arm, and multiple golden lights ignited in front of each of the frozen armies, even the new groups that had just joined them.
As the lights dimmed, their gazes widened as they each saw the mana contracts floating in front of them, the clauses written clearly on it.
Slave contracts.
The realization slammed into them.
"I don’t have to tell you what they are," Atticus simply said, voice still heavy. If he felt an inch of remorse for killing the twin and archer, he didn’t show it.
"You have three seconds to sign. Anyone left after that... will be killed."
Some of the Eldorians couldn’t help but shift uncomfortably in the air. They knew Atticus was cold blooded, but they didn’t like getting reminded of this fact. Each time, it felt like they were staring at a devil rather than a child.
