Assassin at Range: The Sniper's Lethal Power-Chapter 117 - : Bargaining
Whether Channino Viscount is alive or dead doesn’t concern Tristan much.
But since Edith specifically asked him to take care of him, he’s willing to go ahead.
As for the potential fallout with the Swallowing Sisterhood, Tristan isn’t too worried about it.
Unlike Dark Horizon, the Swallowing Sisterhood is all about money. They couldn’t care less who rules Davi City, or which race controls it.
"One Viscount, huh? That means his guards must be quite a few."
However, Tristan didn’t immediately agree. He wore a thoughtful expression.
Such a rare opportunity; if he didn’t bargain a bit, what would be the point of all his hard work?
Edith understood his tactics but wasn’t willing to give in easily.
She said, "I know you’re looking for more ruins, but with Shadow power! being dormant for so long, a lot of information has been lost. The only reason I found that ruin was because I discovered a clue in the Lord’s treasury. That’s about all I know."
Tristan didn’t believe a word of it.
Edith surely knew more than she was letting on.
Thinking for a moment, Tristan said, "Before we decide if Channino Viscount is involved with the Swallowing Sisterhood, we should investigate. We can’t let any evil go unchecked, but we won’t wrongly accuse anyone either."
He was planning to take care of the rabbit before releasing the eagle, as they say.
After several rounds of conversation, Tristan stood his ground, and Edith finally relented, saying, "You kill Channino, and I’ll tell you about a place. But I haven’t been there myself, so I can’t guarantee it’s related to Shadow power!"
Tristan smiled. "You’re too kind, Edith. I’ve never liked Channino. That guy doesn’t seem like a good person at all. Don’t worry, he won’t be leaving Davi City alive."
Edith shot him a side glance.
This man was too sly. No benefits, no action. He was completely different from the outsiders she had encountered before. Those outsiders were eager to learn the ways of the Assassin class and did whatever she told them, without any hesitation.
But in truth, Edith admired Tristan’s approach.
His attitude didn’t matter, as long as he had the ability.
After a brief pause, Edith said, "I’ve gotten some news. Dark Horizon still hasn’t given up. They seem to be plotting something. Before you take care of Channino, try to extract some information from him. Maybe we can find evidence of his collusion with Dark Horizon."
Mention of Dark Horizon got Tristan’s attention.
He had leveled up quickly twice thanks to them.
Tristan responded eagerly, "No problem. It’s everyone’s duty to bring down Dark Horizon."
With the conversation wrapping up, Tristan stood and excused himself.
It was now past 9 PM.
Just as he was about to go train, he received a message from ShieldBreaker: "Boss, the auction’s tomorrow. I’m a little nervous."
No wonder ShieldBreaker was anxious. The price of Guild Tokens had skyrocketed.
After killing countless BOSSes, the various guilds had come to a frustrating realization.
The drop rate for Guild Tokens was just too low.
If it weren’t for ShieldBreaker having one, they’d all be wondering if the thing even existed.
They had killed outdoor BOSSes, run dungeons until they were sick of them, but they hadn’t even seen a hint of a Guild Token.
This had caused guilds to raise their offers drastically.
ShieldBreaker said, "A guild just offered me 120 million. My hands are shaking. How could something like this be worth so much?"
Tristan thought to himself, "This is just the beginning."
Once ExoGenesis merges with reality, the revival items in-game will be insanely expensive.
The rich will spend money like water, without a second thought, just to stay alive.
But the higher the guilds bid, the fiercer the competition will be tomorrow.

"Hope DarkSaber can hold his ground," Tristan thought to himself.
His rebirth had made an impact, after all.
At least in his previous life, before the Guild Token auction, the Shadow Legion hadn’t been wiped out by IFA, with all their gear dropped.
He hoped that little incident wouldn’t shake the confidence of their leader, Rosha.
If he gave up on bidding for the Guild Token, things would get interesting.
After thinking for a moment, Tristan asked, "Has DarkSaber contacted you again?"
ShieldBreaker responded, "Yeah, about half an hour ago. He wants to get a Guild Token. He even offered me a spot as vice president of Shadow Legion, but I turned it down. I heard Shadow Legion took a big loss to IFA and seems to be in a bad shape."
Tristan figured this would probably make DarkSaber furious if he knew.
But ShieldBreaker’s words reassured him.
It was good that DarkSaber hadn’t given up on the fight.
After chatting with ShieldBreaker, he got another message, this time from Drake: "The auction’s tomorrow. Any instructions?"
Drake was determined to hitch his wagon to Blackshade.
Of course. After all, it only took a few hits to take down the Dark Gold Grade Tide Giant.
If Blackshade kept getting stronger, one swing might be enough to take down a Dark Gold BOSS.
If he didn’t cling to this power, he’d probably slap himself later.
Seeing Drake’s message, Tristan thought for a moment and replied, "I wouldn’t call it instructions, but I can give you a heads-up. First, the Guild Token will be auctioned, followed by the equipment. Also, I need to borrow someone from your team. During the equipment auction, I might have to step out for a while, so I need one of your priests to preside over it."
Drake immediately promised, "Don’t worry, boss. We’ll take care of it. I’ll get Sophie ready."
Tristan trusted Drake completely.
He then sent another message to ShieldBreaker, letting him know that the Guild Token would be auctioned first.
ShieldBreaker had no objections.
By auctioning the Guild Token first, the guilds would be able to go all out without holding back, raising the price as much as possible.
For Tristan, this was the most beneficial process.
If they auctioned the equipment first, the guilds would save their strength for the Guild Token auction, and the prices would be lower.
His backpack was full of high-quality equipment, so selling them for cheap wasn’t an option.
By auctioning the Guild Token first, the remaining guilds would use their funds to buy equipment once a winner was declared.
Tristan estimated he could sell his equipment for at least 30% more, if not more.
A windfall was in sight.
Additionally, Tristan was planning to mention bartering at the auction.
If he could trade for a Gold Grade ranged skill book, that would be perfect.
As for Dark Gold Grade, Tristan didn’t have high hopes.
There had only been two Dark Gold Grade BOSSes killed since ExoGenesis launched, and the loot was in his possession.
There was a Dark Gold Grade skill book, but it wasn’t usable for him.
He had also had the chance to kill a third Dark Gold Grade BOSS, but Shadow Dragon, being wise, had surrendered instead, saving his life.
Thinking of this, Tristan suddenly had an idea: maybe he could call out Shadow Dragon and take care of him.
Who knows, he might drop a usable skill book.
Inside the special mount space, Shadow Dragon Seltus suddenly sneezed.
"Hmm, someone’s thinking about Seltus. I wonder who it is... Ah, it must be My Lord Shadow!"
Being thought of by My Lord Shadow, truly a blessing.
