Assassin at Range: The Sniper's Lethal Power-Chapter 112 - : Shadow Dragon Seltus
Coming to this dungeon where the Shadow Dragon was imprisoned was an idea Tristan came up with on the spur of the moment.
To be honest, if it weren’t for the Dark Gold Grade Boss appearing in Sonar City, he probably wouldn’t have remembered the black crystal hidden in Sonar City’s treasury.
The real reason he was here, however, was his Shadow Assassin class. If it weren’t for his connection to shadows, Tristan wouldn’t have bothered coming here.
While he thought, the seal array finally fully revealed itself. The overwhelming energy sent the black dirt on the ground flying, exposing a deep passage below.
The seal’s glow dissipated, and the dungeon’s unique light emerged.
"Ding, you have discovered the Shadow Dungeon."
"Ancient evil lurks beneath the dungeon. Please explore with caution."
Tristan paid no attention to the warning and took a few steps forward to activate the difficulty selection.
"Ding, you are the discoverer of the dungeon and have permission to unlock the hidden difficulty."
"Please note: This difficulty can only be challenged once. Exiting midway will be considered a failure."
The prompt came again, and Tristan couldn’t hide his excitement.
A one-time hidden difficulty—without a doubt, the Dragon Bloodline and Umbra Energy would be found here. If he missed this, even if he came back for the highest difficulty, Nightmare Difficulty, it would be all about luck.
And given ExoGenesis’s usual design, the Shadow Dragon on hidden difficulty would have true consciousness, while those on other difficulties would just be replicas. It might even be possible to never encounter the real Shadow Dragon.
Just like the Crimson Tomb in the starting village: once Tristan had slain the hidden boss, the Vampire Baron, the spawn was gone, and players could only face the butler, Kampakro.
Focusing, Tristan decisively selected the hidden difficulty.
With a flash, his figure disappeared from the spot.
"Ding, you have entered the Shadow Dungeon."
"Ding, you possess the Shadow Assassin class and are unaffected by the Shadow Domain."
The two prompts provided Tristan with quite a bit of information.
First, it confirmed that there was indeed Umbra Energy here, which would benefit him.
Second, the Umbra Energy in this place was slightly weaker than his Shadow power!, meaning that the Shadow Dragon’s domain couldn’t affect him.
As the prompts faded, Tristan’s vision brightened slightly.
Upon entering the dungeon, it had been pitch-black, even with the new Crown of the Deep enhancing his vision. The dimness wasn’t just from lack of light—it was influenced by the Shadow Dragon’s domain.
But ultimately, the Shadow power! was stronger than the domain, and Tristan’s vision returned.
Although this was a dungeon, Tristan didn’t see any monsters at first. The only thing he could hear was the deep breathing echoing from deep within the dungeon.
"Outsider, come to me, and I will grant you endless wealth."
The voice was tempting—no doubt, this was the Shadow Dragon speaking.
"Ding, you have triggered a choice-based quest. Please make your decision carefully."
"Choice 1: Release the Shadow Dragon. Reward: Five gold coins, special title Shadow Dragon’s Follower."
"Choice 2: Kill the Shadow Dragon. Reward: Eldoria City Fame +100."
Tristan couldn’t help but chuckle. Typical dragon greed—five gold coins as a reward? How foolish. Did it not realize that by killing it, Tristan would get all the treasure it had hoarded?
Of course, to slay the dragon, Tristan needed to have the power to do so.
And he believed he could.
Activating Shadow Stealth, Tristan moved deeper into the dungeon.
Though the Shadow Dragon’s mastery over Umbra Energy was strong, it couldn’t stop Tristan’s approach. The Shadow Dragon immediately detected the change in the atmosphere.
"Oh? A Stealthster?"
The voice of the Shadow Dragon was filled with mockery.
"In front of me, no stealth can be effective."
The dungeon was large, but Tristan moved quickly in Stealth, soon reaching the innermost chamber where the Shadow Dragon was imprisoned.
What lay before him was a massive dragon, its scales completely black. Half of its body was buried under layers of rock, but the exposed part of its torso was about six to seven meters long.
Altogether, the Shadow Dragon’s full length was likely around 14 to 15 meters.
A dozen chains, each thicker than Tristan’s legs, extended from the surrounding rocks and were deeply embedded into the dragon’s scales and flesh.
That wasn’t all—each of the chains was covered in runes. The sheer number of these runes made Tristan wonder if they were having some kind of rune sale.
Even after all this time, the runes still emitted an energy fluctuation, clearly still active.
But even such powerful restraints couldn’t entirely suppress the Shadow Dragon. Dark mist swirled around its body, swallowing any light that came near.
Tristan stared at the Shadow Dragon.

As Tristan observed, the Shadow Dragon became aware of his gaze. Its vertical slit pupils scanned the area, trying to locate the intruder.
Just a Stealth ability? How could it escape its sight?
But to the Shadow Dragon’s surprise, even with its eyes wide open, it couldn’t see through Tristan’s Stealth!
The realization dawned on it immediately.
Either this outsider was extraordinarily powerful and possessed a deep mastery of Stealth, or this outsider’s understanding of Umbra Energy was superior to its own!
Neither possibility was good news for the Shadow Dragon.
After all, it had the Shadow Domain. For anyone entering its domain, it was as though they had fallen completely under its control.
Yet, there was no effect on Tristan.
The contrast in power was obvious.
"So, you have some ability after all," the Shadow Dragon said, trying to keep its composure, "Outsider, your Stealth has earned Seltus’s curiosity. Reveal yourself, and speak your wish."
Tristan almost laughed.
This dragon was good at bluffing, but Tristan wasn’t buying it.
He raised his hand and released Rain of Corruption, while simultaneously throwing a Shadow Dagger to pinpoint the dragon’s weak spot.
As he attacked, his figure materialized in the air.
"Aha, found you!"
The Shadow Dragon Seltus’s eyes flashed with malice, and it opened its massive mouth to unleash a dark breath.
The audacity of this outsider! Did it think it could remain safe fifty meters away? Let’s see how it handles Dragon Breath.
The Corrosive Dragon Breath melted through the solid rock beneath it without a sound.
If this attack hit directly, even if Tristan had 100,000 health, it would likely be lethal.
But Tristan wasn’t foolish enough to stand still and take it. He instantly used Shadow Leap to dodge.
The Shadow Dragon attempted to pursue, but the Rain of Corruption and Shadow Dagger attacks landed first.
At first, the Shadow Dragon didn’t care.
Such a light attack? How could it possibly have any effect?
But the next second, the Shadow Dragon’s expression changed completely.

Three separate damage numbers quickly stacked, totaling over 30,000 damage.
And that was just the start. The Shadow Dagger’s damage immediately followed.

The rapid loss of health made the Shadow Dragon question its very existence.
Where had this killing god come from?
