Although Drake didn’t go into detail about the battle, Tristan could imagine it must have been brutal. This time, the Shadow Legion was going to suffer big losses. With their guild leader DarkSaber getting beaten down so many times, the rest of the members couldn’t have fared any better.

Tristan couldn’t help but worry a bit. After being smashed like that, did DarkSaber even have the resources to compete for tomorrow’s Guild Token? If he didn’t sell everything he owned, how could Tristan bleed him dry?

After a moment of thinking, Tristan realized it wasn’t something to stress over. The Shadow Legion was a large guild. Even though their elite members had been thoroughly wrecked, the equipment could always be replaced as long as they had the money. Their talents and skills were still intact, so they could always rebuild from the ground up. This blow would not be enough to bring DarkSaber down.

"Hang in there, DarkSaber," Tristan muttered to himself.

NightStalker, who had been glancing at him, couldn’t resist saying, "You look so sly, I have a feeling someone’s about to get into trouble."

Tristan reached up and touched the corner of his mouth, noticing a slight curve. He quickly straightened his face and replied seriously, "You’re mistaken. I’m a lover of peace."

NightStalker shot him a skeptical look, as if saying, "Yeah, sure, I believe you."

While they joked, the outline of Sonar City’s walls appeared in the distance. At the city gate, several fully-armored soldiers were questioning passersby, while more soldiers were heading toward the coast. The NPCs of Sonar City had been aware of the Sea Tribe’s presence and had prepared for battle. However, before they could launch a full assault, word came that the Sea Tribe had been defeated, and even the Tide Giant boss had been slain.

The Lord of Sonar City was uncertain at first whether the news was true. After all, Tide Giants were incredibly powerful—each one could easily destroy a city gate if it came near. To be cautious, the Lord had his defenses reinforced and sent scouts to verify the information.

Before long, he received confirmation: the Sea Tribe had indeed been defeated, and the headless body of the Tide Giant was floating in the sea.

With that, the Lord of Sonar City was relieved. "So that’s what an outsider can do—defeat the Sea Tribe with such ease. I’ll need to make sure we stay on good terms with them."

The Lord also noted the involvement of Dark Horizon behind the scenes. Those scoundrels had been quiet for a while, but now they were back at it again.

While the Lord was pondering how to deal with the situation, a soldier approached him with a report. "Lord, someone has brought the head of a Tide Giant and is asking if there’s a reward."

The head of a Tide Giant!

The Lord of Sonar City immediately stood up in excitement. "Quick, bring him in!"

Moments later, Tristan entered the Lord’s hall, escorted by a soldier. The Lord was already there, waiting with some of Sonar City’s key figures.

Although the Sea Tribe’s attack hadn’t caused a disaster, everyone knew that if no one had taken down the Tide Giant, the consequences would have been unimaginable. They were eager to find out who had the courage and strength to do it—and perhaps even see if they could recruit him into their faction.

As Tristan faced the group of NPCs’ gazes, he calmly cupped his hands in salute. "Greetings, Lord."

The Lord of Sonar City replied warmly, "No need for formalities. I hear you’ve brought the head of the Tide Giant. Where is it?"

Tristan pulled the massive head from his bag and handed it to a servant. The servant, straining with all his might, held the enormous head above his head, displaying it to the crowd, which erupted in astonished gasps.

Even though it was dead, the aura of ferocity emanating from the Tide Giant had not faded in the slightest. A noblewoman turned pale, trembling, while a knight in full armor looked grim as he considered how long he might last under such a beast’s onslaught. More than that, everyone was now looking at Tristan, their curiosity piqued.

The Lord of Sonar City raised his hand, signaling for the servant to step down. He descended from his throne and approached Tristan, expressing his admiration. "Your strength impresses me, brave warrior. May I ask where you reside? If you have no fixed place, I invite you to settle in Sonar City."

Tristan politely declined. "I’m grateful for your kindness, Lord, but I’ve already acquired some properties in Davi City, and I will be returning there shortly. I’m truly sorry."

The Lord of Sonar City seemed a little disappointed but wasn’t discouraged. Outsiders like Tristan were always on the move, frequently hopping between major cities. It seemed the warrior was no different.

Thinking for a moment, the Lord took out a token and handed it to Tristan. "Take this token, brave warrior. The gates of Sonar City will always be open to you."

Ding — "You have obtained the Sonar City Passage Token."

Tristan, of course, didn’t refuse the gift. With this token, it would be much easier for him to enter Sonar City in the future.

After asking Tristan about the details of the battle, the Lord of Sonar City didn’t drag on with small talk but generously said, "You’ve done Sonar City a great service. You must be rewarded. If there’s anything you desire, just ask."

Tristan thought for a moment. He didn’t lack for equipment, and his skills were decent but not overwhelming. He couldn’t immediately think of anything he wanted.

Then an idea struck him. He remembered that Sonar City had a certain item in their vault that would be perfect for him.

He spoke slowly, "Lord, I’ve heard your vault contains a mysterious black crystal. Would you be willing to part with it?"

He wasn’t mistaken—Sonar City’s black crystal was the key to unlocking a certain underground seal. At the lowest level of that dungeon lay an extremely rare Shadow Dragon, whose defeat would grant a Dragon Bloodline Factor. This not only offered high growth potential but also granted abilities related to shadows—perfect for his Shadow Assassin class.

The Lord of Sonar City’s eyes flickered. He had obtained the black crystal years ago but had never figured out its true purpose. Now this outsider was asking for it—did he know something the Lord didn’t?

But with so many people watching, the Lord couldn’t go back on his word. Moreover, given Tristan’s ability to take down a Tide Giant, it was clear that his strength would soon reach unimaginable levels. There was no need to create enmity over a mysterious crystal.

Thinking it over, the Lord nodded decisively. "It’s yours. But considering your tremendous achievement in slaying the Tide Giant, it wouldn’t be right for such a victory to only be rewarded with a crystal. Here, I’ll also give you five hundred gold coins from the city’s treasury."

Tristan knew better than to turn down such an offer. With a deep bow, he clasped his hands in thanks. "Lord, your generosity is greatly appreciated."
