Aspiring to the Immortal Path-Chapter 1057: Attack
Tang Jie immediately flew onto the ship and said, "Saros, what are you doing? Who let you participate in this kind of battle?"
His orders before leaving were to have Saros gather up ghost soldiers and attack the weaker ghost ships to save humans. But it seemed that Saros had defied his orders and participated in a battle against the human cultivators, so his anger was understandable.
All the ghosts were delighted at Tang Jie's return.
Saros flapped its wings to beat away an attacking cultivator and then prostrated at Tang Jie's feet. "Saros had no desire to defy your orders, but was compelled to…"
Before it could finish, the human cultivator it had been battling with saw an opportunity and thrust out his sword. "Die, ghost!"
Tang Jie grabbed the sword without even turning his head.
The cultivator was happy to see the enemy grabbing his art relic and immediately began to transmit his sword energy through the blade. But Tang Jie seemed to not feel it, turning to coldly glare at the cultivator, who inwardly gasped, How could this be?

Tang Jie's gaze robbed him of all will to fight, and two ghost generals standing on the sides used this opportunity to strike.
Tang Jie waved his sleeve and shouted, "Scram!"
The two ghost generals were sent flying.
Tang Jie then slowly said, "Out of consideration for your cultivation, I'll let you go this one time. Don't bother me again."
He casually tossed the human cultivator away.
This human cultivator was considered strong among his fellow Celestial Heart cultivators, but he had been tossed away with ease. Stunned, he didn't dare to make any more trouble for Tang Jie and hastily went to find another opponent. Saros was startled by the scene and how strong its master had become during this trip, which only made escaping from his grip even harder. Meanwhile, those two silly ghost generals were elated, dumbly grinning.
That human no longer made trouble for Tang Jie, but another ghost ship came over and did. It turned out that those two ghost generals belonged to this ghost ship, and its owner was very unhappy to see Tang Jie knocking around their subordinates.
A Ghost King barged over and shouted, "Where did this ghost come from, daring to attack my subordinates?"
Tang Jie saw that it was just a middle-tier Ghost King and laughed. "And just where did you come from, not knowing your place?"
The Ghost King nearly fainted from anger.
Just who doesn't know their place? I'm middle-tier and you're low-tier, yet you dare say such things!?
Ghosts had never been good with their words, so the Ghost King simply furiously said, "Seeking death!"
A whip made of bone flew toward Tang Jie's head.
This whip consisted of linked vertebrae, and when it extended, it let out a shrill whistle. At the tip of the whip was a large skull from which black smoke poured out. As it flew through the air, it came alive and attempted to bite Tang Jie.
Tang Jie thrust out a finger, jabbing that skull, and there was a terrible scream as the skull burst apart and the vertebrae shattered into dust.
Tang Jie thrust out his finger again, and a golden grain fell into his hand.
"No!" The Ghost King howled when its beloved art relic was destroyed, and it attacked Tang Jie even more fiercely, summoning a black fog from which a giant ghost head emerged to devour Tang Jie. It seemed that this guy's moves all involved biting.
Tang Jie didn't mind, simply punching out, but hidden within that blast of power was the second form of the Evil Punishing Seal, the Soul Slayer. The ghost head howled upon taking this attack, and Tang Jie stepped forward and followed up with another Soul Slayer punch, and then another.
After three Soul Slayers, the ghost head exploded, but Tang Jie kept on punching, unleashing eighteen Soul Slayers in a row. Despite being a middle-tier Ghost King, the Ghost King couldn't hold out against this salvo and was pushed all the way back to its ghost ship, its butt forced back onto its throne.
Shocked and enraged, it pointed at Tang Jie and ordered, "Kill him!"
This was the worst decision it could have made.
There were two armies on this battlefield, ghosts versus humans. It was time to put aside all personal grudges and unite against their common foe.
But this ghost had lost itself in its rage toward Tang Jie and given the order to attack, treating him as an enemy, causing discord within their own ranks. In truth, it was just shouting to vent its emotions and didn't really mean it.
Unfortunately, it was dealing with Tang Jie, who was looking for such an excuse. "You were the one who attacked first," he said with a smile.
He waved his hand and ordered, "Kill them!"
The ghosts on the Ghost March Ship disregarded the humans and turned to attack the other ghost ship.
The human cultivators had been losing ground and were somewhat dizzied by the turn of events.
Fortunately, a quick-witted human saw the situation and urgently said, "Forget about them and go and deal with the other ghosts."
The humans retreated to reinforce other areas, which relieved the pressure in multiple places on the front line.
Meanwhile, the ghosts of the Ghost March Ship were locked in battle with their former comrades, Tang Jie lunging at the Ghost King and ruthlessly attacking, not even giving him the chance to beg for mercy, his savage assault leaving the Ghost King bewildered.
It didn't understand why this newcomer was being so ruthless. It was just a few words, so how had it ended up in a fight? And in the middle of a battle, did he not understand what was more important here…? Alas, Tang Jie didn't give it the chance to speak.
Even worse was that the battle had drawn in other ghost ships. Intending to cause more chaos, Tang Jie occasionally sent some spell arts flying toward other ships. Some ships ignored them, but if one came over to see what was going on, Tang Jie would unleash a barrage without a word, pulling them into the vortex of civil war.
Thus, the internal conflict soon spread from two boats to several dozen boats.
This was partially because the ghosts were very loosely organized in the first place, and there was nothing really connecting them. If it weren't for the Nine Nethers Feast giving everyone a common objective, they would have never been together in the first place.
In the Nether Domain, conflict among themselves was completely expected.
This was why stirring internal conflict went easier than expected. Their alliance was nothing more than a pile of sand, and as easily scattered.
But at this moment, a particularly large ghost ship charged out of the rear.
The Ghost King seated on his throne was at peak high-tier, and his face was a light blue. He exuded a powerful aura, indicating that he was extremely strong, even among his fellow Ghost Kings.
This was a chief-level figure, comparable to Ming Yekong or Yan Changfeng.
Tang Jie would find it hard to defeat such a figure at his current strength.
As this Ghost King approached, he roared, "You scoundrels, fighting with each other at such a critical moment! Stop at once! If those humans escape, I'll boil you all alive!"
This majestic voice caused all the fighting ghosts to stop, but in the short time the conflict had transpired, many had been killed or injured. Tang Jie continued to battle with the Ghost King who had the bone whip. This wasn't because Tang Jie couldn't kill him, but because his survival was the only excuse he had to continue this battle.
The blue-faced Ghost King saw that Tang Jie was refusing to listen and didn't recognize him, so he guessed that this ghost was the cause. He roared in anger, "Impudent Yaksha, daring to stir up internal discord and destroy the ranks of my army!? DIE!"
This roar was like thunder, and it gathered a torrent of lightning that surged toward Tang Jie.
Only a Ghost King of profound cultivation could gather such power.
But Tang Jie was completely unworried by this lightning, continuing to fight with that Ghost King. Just when the lightning was about to strike Tang Jie, a figure suddenly appeared, and the lightning disappeared.
The blue-faced Ghost King was taken aback, and then he saw that some baldy had appeared next to Tang Jie.
While this bald youth was dressed like a human, the thick death energy gathered around him proved that he was a ghost. For some reason, the blue-faced Ghost King felt himself tremble in fear when gazing at the baldy.
Most surprising of all was that he couldn't tell what the bald youth's cultivation level was.
There were normally two explanations for this. The first was that their cultivation was concealed through some profound method, and the second was that their cultivation was stronger.
Stronger than him? That meant a Nether Emperor.
The blue-faced Ghost King didn't believe it.
So it had to be the first possibility.
The blue-faced Ghost King snarled, "Arrogant ghost, how dare you interfere in this king's business!"
He thrust out his hands, sending a wave of death energy at Tang Chuan.
All life decayed and died before this wave. Humans struck would be instantly turned into ghosts, and ghosts struck by it would be torn to shreds.
But to his surprise, the bald youth simply snorted.
This simple snort caused that raging wave of death energy to instantly dissolve.
The blue-faced Ghost King was stunned, and only now did his opponent finally release their aura, which was as deep as the sea, as lofty as a mountain!
"EMPEROR!!!" the blue-faced Ghost King cried out in terror.
Tang Chuan raised a finger. "Since you attacked me, I will return with a single finger. If you can take this blow, I will spare your life."
He thrust his finger at the blue-faced Ghost King.
