304 Little Devil

“Now now. I know how you are feeling right now but we really need to put this on hold.” Jovani put a firm hand on her shoulder causing a harsh glare to be directed at him.

He’d allowed her to take things further with the alcohol but even he could see the man needed a break. They needed information out of him but it wouldn’t do them any good if he ended up dying.

“Didn’t we just have this conversation a few moments ago? I told you before that I’m not done yet.” She tried to shrug the hand off but Jovani refused to move it.

“I know what you said and I’m telling you now that it is time to stop.” He glanced between the man and Lena.

“We’re done with this and we’re going to be getting ready to head back. My men will be certain to keep him alive for your return.” Jovani managed to move between her and the prisoner laying on the floor.

Kudo to the man for being able to manage as much as he had. Though the alcohol might have been near breaking point for him. He made little noise but the intensity of the pain became evident when he threw up. Bile mixed with blood was never a pleasant sight or smell.

Jovani would need to request that the room be properly bleached after they left.

“You really think that it would be a good idea to leave without any information? We spent this much time here, I’m not about ready to leave before we get any answers.” Shoving the other man, Lena managed to get his hand off her.

“You can go back if that’s what you want to do. Even taking time into consideration, there is still at least another hour for me to work with.”

.....

The princess did want to get back before Samuel woke up. He wouldn’t be pleased to know she’d vanished while he was out cold. Not that he would have been able to stop her.

Looking at the man on the ground, Lena knew that she just needed a little more time before he would crack. A little more and they’d have the information they were looking for.

Licking her bottom lip, she glanced back over at the cart. What exactly would it take to make him break? There were still so many forms of torture that she could go through...

“Princess, for once I am taking charge of this situation and we are going to head back.” Jovani’s persistence was beginning to get on her nerves more than usual. He even went so far as to move the cart away from her.

“Jovani. You brought me here to do what I do best. You can’t honestly expect me to be willing to stop so suddenly after getting started?” The ice-cold aura surrounding Lena matched with the fire in her eyes made even the Vedova Nera boss shudder.

Her expression wasn’t like any that he’d seen on her before. A vortex of white hatred and cold indifference that threatened to swallow up anyone who came in contact with it.

“I did indeed bring you here to do your job. Except that I thought we would have a bit more time. Things didn’t exactly turn out as planned though. Hence why we need to leave now.” Jovani didn’t mind admitting his mistake if it would get the princess to back down.

“Time isn’t an issue here. There is more than enough time before we leave. Just a little more and I’m certain he will be more than willing to talk.” A well-aimed kick to the man’s stomach caused him to let out a grunt of pain. He practically curled in on himself due to the pain and instinctive need to protect his sensitive abdomen.

“And with a little bit more you might also succeed in killing him. I’m telling you that we really need to break for now.” Jovani ran a hand through his hair.

Now it made sense why his men wanted him to handle it. No way would any of them even be able to get close to making the princess budge.

What a bunch of cowards sending off their boss to fight against the little devil. Weren’t they supposed to be there to protect him?

He would definitely be making sure that they scrubbed the room extra hard.

“Now come on. If not for your sake, do it for mine then. I don’t really want you to come back like this when my cousin wakes up.” Jovani motioned to her blood stand clothes and skin.

Honestly, if anyone didn’t who she was, they’d have a hard time recognizing her in her current state.

“all of that stuff on you is going to have to be thrown away. The shower should allow you to take a shower. I would prefer though if you change before you get into my car.” Blood would be really hard to get out of the seats.

The princess seemed to waiver in response to what the Vedova Nera boss said. He did have a point as much as she hated to admit it.

Cleaning up wouldn’t be that hard for the princess. Ten minutes in the shower would get rid of all the physical evidence.

Mentally though...

Lena would need some time to get out of her current state of mind. Her murderous intent wasn’t something that she could easily make come and go at will. She needed time to breathe and clear her mind.

Normally she wouldn’t care about how she seemed. Most everyone knew to ignore her or watch what they did around her. ƒr𝙚𝙚𝘸e𝚋𝐧૦ѵ𝒆𝒍.𝒄𝒐m

Samuel wouldn’t do that though. No, her na?ve fiancé would want to know what was wrong and try to fix it.

It wasn’t anything he could fix though nor could she even begin to explain what the problem was. He wasn’t in any place to know about such things. Not yet.

“As much as I hate to give and don’t think he deserves to have a break, I will cede to your point this one time.” It was done begrudgingly but at least the princess did it.

“Good. I honestly didn’t want to have to get any more serious than this.” Jovani laughed trying to defuse the situation.

If he hadn’t been able to persuade her to leave, no way would he have been able to physically do anything to make it happen.
