Armed Train in the Apocalypse-Chapter 332 - 232: Seeking Your Protection
A 20-meter-long trawler sails on the water, and in the sound of rain, a large number of mutated crabs crash onto the deck.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
The man fires several shots, the muzzle flash briefly lighting up in the rain before quickly quieting down.
Streams of rainwater slide down the raincoat and into the gun barrel, the man working the slide with a clicking sound.
But the jammed shell stubbornly refuses to come out.
"Damn it! Boss, we can’t hold it!"
The mutated crab adjusts its stance, facing him sideways. With a slight tap of its claw on the deck, its body the size of a washbasin flies toward his face with an eerie grace.
"Bang!"
The man throws his handgun, it hits the crab’s shell and shatters into a pile of parts.
After mutation, these crabs’ shells are even harder, like sheets of steel, even 9mm bullets glance off, and throwing the handgun is just a temporary delay.
"Useless."
Just as he’s about to be overwhelmed by the crabs, Zhang Min walks out from the cabin.
The crabs immediately lose their will to attack, retreating sideways as if welcoming their queen.
The man quickly retreats, shaking off the rainwater, just about to speak when he feels the trawler violently shudder beneath him, almost capsizing.
A massive shadow flashes past the side of the trawler, plunging into the water with a terrifying splash.
"Boom!"
The surging waves crash onto the deck, flooding into the cabin.
The man steadies himself, recalling the fleeting glimpse of scales from earlier, his face turning pale.
"Boss, it’s a dragon! We’re never getting out of this!"
"Just an Evolution Beast, you idiot!"
Zhang Min bites her fingernail, speaking irritably.
Walking the night always brings encounters with random predators, but these crabs are manageable. Her Tier One ability is almost crushing against these unclassified crabs.
It’s not much trouble to shelter a small trawler.
But this Tier One Evolution Beast is troubling; her ability can influence those at the same tier but only activate existing emotions, unlike lower tiers where she can forcibly strip away a negative emotion.
The Evolution Beast underwater is enormous, each movement stirs up massive waves, crashing against the trawler.
’What would the train conductor do if he were here?’
’Throw his teammates overboard as bait?’
’But that thing clearly can’t be satisfied with just two people, should’ve recruited more subordinates...’
Zhang Min’s gaze instinctively turns to the porthole outside, where the lone Iron Mountain Shelter stands on the water like an isolated island.
In the next instant, a waterfall of lightning cascades from the top floor, spreading to the water’s surface, ghostly blue arcs dancing on the wave crests.
Like the world turned upside down, the pitch-black water becomes the clouds, while the clouds in the sky lie deathly still, sometimes rumbling from within, yet no lightning is seen.
Gemlike red eyes reflect this wondrous scene.
Her red lips part slightly, filled with inexplicable awe.
"Has the train conductor grown this powerful already..."
"Makes one unable to resist wanting to kneel at his feet!"
"Boom!"
Another muffled sound erupts beneath the trawler, the cabin shaking.
The helmsman urgently exclaims, "Boss, with that thing tangling us, we’ll sink before reaching the next gathering place!"
Another man presses hard against the cabin door, "Make a decision already!"
"Turn back!"
Zhang Min decisively commands.
Rather than dying namelessly at sea, she would prefer returning to face Su Huan’s indifference.
...
Iron Mountain Shelter.
Qi Zhendong kicks a crab, which scuttles sideways several steps, regaining balance but landing on a current by the window, instantly being roasted to an aromatic crisp. The blue shell turns red at an alarming rate.
Its eight legs with two pairs of large claws thrash wildly, but soon it falls still.
No longer able to grasp the ground, it falls down.
The shell clattering as it falls sounds like a cook’s spatula, crackling loudly.
Outside, more crabs are electrocuted, falling layer by layer with a rustle.
Witnessing this, the Qi family is struck speechless with awe.
"Is this... divine punishment?"
"It must be an Evolver’s ability."
Iron Old Man remarks.
Qi Zhendong instinctively asks, "Who is strong enough to do this?"
No one answers him, as the Iron Mountain Shelter doesn’t have that capability, making the conclusion obvious.
"It must be Brother Su!" Xiaodong says with conviction.
Qi Zhendong looks at Qi Jian Country with confusion, "Brother, to what extent has he evolved?"
The latter frowns intensely, "I don’t know, Zhenbang let them in, and when I saw him, he seemed just like an ordinary person, not even as good as his elite soldiers."
Qi Zhendong looks back suspiciously, only seeing the ghostly blue stream, unable to find its source.
A hint of doubt appears in his eyes, "Could it be someone under him...?"
Qi Jian Country immediately thinks of the strong man who completely overpowered him in strength.
Since the apocalypse began, it was the first time he encountered someone so fierce.
The strength Qi Jian Country prided himself on was like a child’s in front of that man; it seemed he hadn’t even used his full strength, yet had tossed Qi Jian Country around effortlessly. If they hadn’t wanted to capture him alive, he suspected Liang Kuan could have killed him in one move.
"It’s possible. He’s got many experts under him."
Qi Jian Country looks at the lightning, eyes full of deep apprehension.
Qi Zhendong snuggles closer to his father, whispering, "Dad, how are you sure they’ll act?"
Iron Old Man opens the shotgun, ejects the shell case, and says solemnly, "I’m not sure. From beginning to end, I’m only sure of one thing: I can’t convince him."
"Then he will..."
"Because Brother Su is a good person!"
Xiaodong says resolutely, his body trembling with excitement, reflected in his eyes the blue arc of light.
