Apocalyse: Marked by Chaos-Chapter 44 - Unbroken
Chapter 44 - 44 Unbroken
"Why?" She arched her brow, her stance turning a little bit defensive.
"Because you ran from the fortress, were you trying to run away from your duties?" One of the soldiers curtly answered, shooting her a menacing glare.
Olivia was speechless. "No... No, that's not true." She refuted.
Klaus smirked slightly before walking beside her. " Then why did you escape my darling?"
Olivia looked at him with disgust, a bitter taste lingered in her mouth as she heard him call her endearing name. " I left because.... Because..." Her memories dissolved like smoke, slipping from her grasp before she could hold onto them.
Her brows knitted in worry. She knew she left for a reason, but why couldn't she remember? She remembered that she had something important to do, but why couldn't she remember what.
Klaus' gaze fixated on her, intense and unreadable as if he was trying to peel off all her layers of facade from her face. Then, he rolled his eyes in amusement.
"Let's get going, we don't have all day." He said nonchalantly.
" I can't?" Her voice rang through the air, silence ensued like a cloud, thickening the air with tension. It was so thick, even a pin drop would echo.
All heads turned towards her. She fidgeted slightly under their burning gaze. "I... I need to go search for my team." Her voice came out weaker than she expected.
" That nice, I never knew they were that loyal, risking your life to look for them." Klaus mused, but his calculative, burning eyes never left her for a second.
"Do you know where they are?" He asked.
Olivia didn't want to answer that question. She would be called foolish, because she knew she didn't know where to find them, but she couldn't just leave them like that, not when she had been the cause of the incident.
She ignored him, avoiding his gaze. " I will take that as a no. Hilarious isn't it?" He asked, mused, as if he had found the most funny thing.
Olivia shot him a glare before averting his gaze again." I don't have time for your sense of humor, I have things to do." She answered curtly, before walking away. Although deep down her heart was beating so fast, and she didn't know why she felt this nervous under his scrutinising gaze.
" Tsk tsk." Klaus clicked his tongue in annoyance. With a nod from him, a guard from the team walked swiftly behind her, before she could resist, she was already up on his shoulder, her legs dangling in the air.
She punched the soldiers back as she wanted to break free from his hold. But her punches were nothing but a massage to the man, he didn't even budge.
"Let go of me, you b**tard" she yelled angrily, as she continued raining her punches on him.
" Let's go back." He said, his voice laced with satisfaction, he hummed excitedly as they ended back towards the fortress.
Olivia felt like she was going to puke from the pressure in her stomach, they have been walking like forever. The man's strong shoulder against her stomach makes it uncomfortable and unbearable for her to stay still.
Her throat is now patched up from all the yelling and the cursing. She could feel her blood rushing down to her head, she might as well get a brain damage from this.
The ground swung in her view, even down she was the one swinging on the man's shoulder.

" Klaus, tell him to put me down this instant." She commanded, her voice coming out like a broken record.
Klaus cleaned his ear with his fingers." Do you guys hear anything?" He asked, draining ignorance.
" No we didn't, except for the buzzing sound of a bug." One of the soldiers teasingly added. A chuckle of laughter burst out from their mouth, reverberating through the air.
Tears brimmed in Olivia's eyes, for once she wanted to burn them into a roasted chicken. At her thought, her hand pulsed with red energy.
AAARGH!
The man carrying her, cried out in panic, as he abruptly dropped her down. He was on fire, he began to roll on the ground, trying to put fire out.
"Put it out. Now." Klaus' tone remained smooth, but the air around them shifted. The soldier bit down a scream, obeying without question. No one dared to disobey Klaus. The rest of the team came to his rescue.
In the midst of the chaos. Olivia groaned as she rubbed her elbow, which had been injured by his abrupt action. She scrambled back, she looked at her hand, confusion, panic and satisfaction smeared across her face.
" This is what you get if you mess at me." She boasted inwardly. As she was rejoicing in her little feat, she had no idea of the cold daggers that were being sent at her.
Klaus clicks his tongue in dissatisfaction, he casually strode towards her. He elegantly squatted in front of her, his eyes boring through hers.
"Do you have a death wish?" Klaus' voice was low, dangerously smooth, but laced with something dark beneath.
"Let go of me." Olivia tried to release his grip on her. His hand suddenly held her jaw, a look of surprise flickered through Olivia's eyes, before it became cold again.
She froze. His grip was firm, unyielding—too close. Her pulse spiked, but whether from fear or something else, she couldn't tell. The worst part? His lips curled slightly, as if he could sense her reaction.
A chill creeping up her spine. " Behave yourself." He warned, his hand softly tapping at her cheek. Olivia pulled away from his reach.
He only smiled at her reaction. He stood, his attention focused on his burned comrade, smoke emitting from all over him. " Are you okay, Pete?" He asked.
" Yes, boss." Pete bowed quickly, his breath uneven, his fists clenched, his slightly burned hand twitching. The resentment in his eyes burned almost as hot as the flames that had licked his skin. The way his gaze flickered toward Olivia wasn't just pain, but a silent promise. Klaus' gaze ran over him before he gave him a curt nod.
"Let's get going." He said.
Olivia's gaze darted around, her mind racing. This was her chance. The commotion was a perfect opportunity, she could slip away. But then, like a shadow waiting to ruin her plan, Klaus stepped in.
" Olivia, walk beside me." Klaus commanded, and he made it clear through his cold gaze that he wasn't asking.
