Apocalyptic Rebirth: With a repairman system space, she rises again.-Chapter 53: A town in danger.
Chapter 53: A town in danger.
Moon’s whispered land in the secretary’s ears successfully. President Finch told those that were trying to open the door to back off. He did not like Ceasar’s means but the lunatic was about to get answers.
This matter was related to national security, so it was best not to interfere for now.
"You know about the mist?" Secretary Ceaser asked Moon. His hand fell from Pastor Salem’s throat, and he drifted slowly towards Moon, drawn in by the weight of her words. He slammed his hands on the desk and leaned towards her. "Talk now."
Moon locked eyes with the secretary, frozen. Terror and astonishment warred across her face. "Have any meteorites fallen from the sky? The mist came with the meteorites?" Then she lowered her voice and looked at her hands. "How can it be here already? It doesn’t make sense; something must be wrong. It is not how it is supposed to go. I know the order of all the natural disasters."
Her words confused those that were listening. Had the terror plan gone wrong? What did she mean and what was this mist they were speaking of?
"What is she saying? What disasters? Ask her dammit!" The president slammed the observation mirror embedded in the wall.
Agent Craig tried to do as the president asked but he was shut down by the secretary.
Ceasar grabbed Moons chin, and he spoke calmly, taking Moon very seriously. "There are other disasters other than the tsunami. How do you know?" He asked.
Moon squeezed her eyes. "I don’t know anymore, it’s all wrong. It makes no sense! I need to get out of here; the apocalypse has already arrived. If the mist is here, then we are all doomed. Those things will kill us all." She whispered and shut down.
No matter how much barking and shouting Secretary Ceasar did, he did not get anymore answers out of Moon.
The door burst open, and the interrogation was ended because the believers were rioting, and a gun had been fired. The president and all other important officials needed to be whisked away quickly.
Secretary Ceaser was dragged out of the interrogation room kicking and screaming. Now more than ever, he was determined to find Carson and find out what was in the mist.

Carson Warnock had no idea just how badly the Secretary wanted to get his hands on him. He had left all his property behind and gone on the run with a go bag, a fake passport, some cash and a gun.
Playing a fake tourist, he had hitch hiked until he made it to Sedona springs, a small town on the East. It was the only place he could think of to find safety. His sister was a nun in a small monastery in the town.
He had just arrived, and every sense told him that something was off in the town as he did not see any old people walking around. From the pictures his sister usually set him, the place was always crawling with old people.
As for the young ones and adults, those that he saw were walking around with masks covering their noses like there was and infection or massive fumigation going on in the town.
Carson did not dare to stop and speak to them. He lowered the tip of his hat and walked to the church which was open. A priest was walking out and Carson stopped him.
"Good morning, Father."
"Good morning son, may God bless you, my child." The priest replied.
Carson nodded. "I am looking for sister, Sister Ana belle Warnock, is she inside the church by any chance?" He asked.
The priest recoiled, as if he had seen rot blooming beneath Carson’s skin. "Oh dear, now I understand why you have no mask on. You must be from out of town." Grief dimmed his gaze. "I do not have a better way to say this son, but no one down here has heard from Sister Ana for days since she volunteered to look after the sick."
Cocking his head, Carson asked the priest to explain further, his gut clenched with unease, a cold sense of dread crawling up his spine. "What do you mean, is my sister dead?"
The priest sighed. "I don’t know son. Our town has been struck by a strange illness, the red disease. We have tried to ask for help from the authorities, but we are a small town in the countryside."
Carson frowned. "The red disease? What is that? Wait does Anna have this red disease? Where the hell is she?" The questions sprouted out of him.
The priest tilted his head back for a fleeting second, frowning at Carson’s language. Then he shook his head. "We didn’t not know what to call it so we called it the red disease because the patients grow red veins like roots on their bodies. They scream as if they are in agony and then they die." He paused. "We isolated the Spring Garden nunnery and took all the patients there. Sister Ana and a few others volunteered to treat the sick."
Carson’s bag dropped to the ground as his shoulders slumped. His sister had always been annoyingly selfless why in God’s name had she volunteered to do something so risky?
"Where is this nunnery? I will go there and get my sister out." He declared.
Shaking his head frantically, the priest disapproved of him going there. "You will get infected if you go there. The fact that you are walking around without a mask is a risk in itself." He warned strongly.
Carson did not care, he wanted to see his sister instantly. "Where?" He barked.
The priest saw the determination in Carson’s eyes, and he sighed. Looking away because he felt like he was sending him to his death, he pointed to the hills in the south. Without saying another word, Carson run as fast as he could towards the hills.
It took him thirty minutes to reach the Spring gardens, and the stench of death and decay was what welcomed him. It hung in the air, thick like fish left in a refrigerator for many weeks during a power outage.
"Good God!" He pinched his nose.
His purpose was not deterred. From one building to the next he searched for his sister but all he saw were bodies lined in pews waiting to be burned. In the halls, he met a few people that were sobbing.
The situation looked hopeless and the more he searched, the more frantic he grew that he shouted Anna’s name without a care. He found her sleeping in what had been turned into a nurse’s rest area.
"Ana!" Carson’s voice cracked around her name, half laugh-half sob tangled together. He pushed in and shook her, and he checked for other signs of life.
She was warm and still breathing. As she opened her eyes, he leaned on the back of his feet and sighed.
"Carson is that you?" She asked weakly.
"It’s me Anna." He replied.
"No... Carson leave." She managed to say.
He ignored her and pulled her into an embrace. After a minute, he pushed back and studied her face, red veins were starting to grow around her cheeks. She was ill from the weird disease the priest had mentioned. "I am so sorry I took too long." He caressed her cheek, tears rolling down both their eyes.
A thought popped into his head. He had been told that he had miraculously self-healed after coming from the mist. What if, just what if he could heal his sister? He had watched such movies, just a few drops of blood and she would be well again. He quickly cut his hand with a sharp he pulled from his pocket and fed her his blood.
