Apocalyptic Rebirth: With a repairman system space, she rises again.-Chapter 49: Shameless Garrick.
Chapter 49: Shameless Garrick.
At Westbrook meanwhile, the red carpet had not been rolled out for Garrick Voss.
Hades, that had developed a habit of carrying a gun and a knife on his person ever since he came into possession of the knowledge of the apocalypse. Like the other men, he pulled out his gun and turned it on Garrick Voss.
"Hey....hey...I am not here for trouble." Garrick said nervously, scared out of his mind. He had just survived a tsunami, only to end up in some kind of gang territory! He had no idea what to make of his surroundings. "I have money."
The men did not respond and most of them looked at Hades.
Garrick was an idiot but his observation and survival skills were high. He guessed that from all the attention Hades was getting, he was the boss. His eyes popped when he recognized the man in charge. "Hades Quinn!" He laughed and relaxed, sighing immediately in cathartic relief. Today was not the day he would die.
"Is this your place?" he asked. "Gosh, I was scared out of my mind for a second because I thought I was in the jungle in some gang land. I am Garrick Voss, the son of Jake Voss. You do business with my father."
The gun in Hades’s hand cocked.
Garrick was just taking his first step forward and he jumped back. "Woah! dude, take it easy. I just had a really rough day and you are giving me crazy heart palpitations with that gun in your hand. I was on an island and a tsunami just came in and f-ing killed everyone. I am lucky because I ordered some coke for the party so I was not at the beach. The dealers were taking in the product when the first wave hit so I just got into the helicopter and flew out of there." He laughed. "I guess my old man was onto something when he forced me to take flying lessons."
Hades’s finger squeezed around the trigger. Sunshine placed her hand over the gun and shook her head.
"Back to work everyone." She shouted sternly.
Dwayne and the other armed men backed away slowly and started sending all the onlookers away. Only members of the Quinn family remained. Rori took the children away.
"So can I make a call or something?" Garrick asked them. "Oh and some food and a beer while I wait for my father to send a helicopter to fly me out of here. Oh, and you guys are totally invited to my I survived a tsunami party which I will throw tomorrow."
Sunshine felt Hades’s hand tense and she increased the strength with which she was firmly keeping it still. "If you shoot him here, this place will become a crime scene and the police will show up. We will have to pause construction until the investigation is done. We don’t have a moment to waste Hades."
He gritted his jaw. Logic said that he should listen to her but emotion said that he should just a bullet in Garrick’s skull. "You got thousands of people killed."
Garrick drew his head back, raised his brows and scoffed. "How do you figure?"
"You provided five free three-hundred-seater planes and twenty choppers that flew people from all over the country to the island." Hades accused him in voice that carried a lot of anger. Look at you now, not one shred of remorse. Do you feel bad at all for inviting them to their doom?"
"Why should I?" Garrick laughed derisively. "I did not force them to show up and I did not send the tsunami. I fulfilled my promise and gave them free transport, booze and food. The tsunami was inevitable and the way I see it, I gave them one last good time before they died. I should be thanked, not condemned."
His shameless smug response was met with silent shock. The air held still like it was also processing the surprise. Lisha Quinn run off, making retching sounds.
Warren stepped forward, his fists were trembling. His eyes locked on Garrick’s. "The least you can do is apologize to the public for the part you played in all this. Without those planes, many would not have died foolishly."
"I am so out of here." Garrick turned to look for an exit.
But he didn’t get two steps before Warren’s punch connected with his jaw like a blacksmith’s hammer crushing rock. The Quinn’s were shocked, Warren was not a violent man, it seemed Garrick had stirred up more rage in him than anyone had ever done. No one moved to help Garrick up.
Warren pulled up the arms of his shirt and stood over Garrick. "There is more where that came from."
He knelt over him and continued to land more angry punches on Garrick’s head. Garrick covered his head with his arms and also tried to fight back as he screamed for help.
Hades and his younger brother Hadrian had to pull Warren off before he killed Garrick. Dwayne and Morgan, another bodyguard put him a car and instructed a driver to drop him off at any popular media house in the country.
If he was so proud of what he had done, then he would have no problem saying that in front of a camera to the whole nation.
Back at Westbrook base, Sunshine had dragged Hades into a large conference room which they were turning into a command center. It was on the thirty fourth floor of the once abandoned thirty six floor main resort building that would soon be called their home.
She pushed him onto the table and urged him to take deep breaths. "You cannot allow people like Garrick to get under your skin. If you do not control your rage, you will end up taking on an opponent you cannot take down in the apocalypse."
Hades took one sharp, short breath and forced a smile. "I am calm."
She scoffed and rolled her eyes. How was he calm when his chest was moving up and down rapidly? "You will see many people like Garrick in the apocalypse. People that will mislead others and cause death. Will you shoot them all?"
"Yes." he replied quickly.
She opened her mouth and raised her finger. Then she sighed. "Oh, what the hell, I used to shoot them too."
Hades put the gun down on the table as he tsked , "I am your husband, it should not surprise you that we think alike. Maybe we are twin flames."
Sunshine’s eyebrows could not have found temporary placement on her forehead quicker. "Twin flames!"
Hades laughed a little. "I will admit that I have no idea what that means. I have just always assumed that it means two flames that look alike."
"Nope." She pulled out the chair in front of him and sat down. "It means two halves of the same soul, split and placed into separate bodies."
He blinked down at her. "Ah..." He moved his head up and down slowly like he understood. And then he shook his head like he did not. "It makes no sense at all. I thought everyone was supposed to have one soul. Their soul. If you share it, how do you decide who gets which part?"
Sunshine slapped her forehead and she winced. She had not realized that she had a headache.
"Headache?" he asked.
She nodded. From the space, she got medicine and water. After taking the drugs, she laid her head down on one of his thighs just because it was probably softer than the table.
He moved his hands around like he had no idea what to with them and finally decided to change the position of her head and help her massage the headache away with his thumbs.
All those overnights, endless flights, meetings and paperwork had given him constant headaches. He was now an expert at the thumb technique for headache relief. freewebnσvel.cѳm
