Apocalyptic Rebirth: With a repairman system space, she rises again.-Chapter 46: End of the world party.
Chapter 46: End of the world party.
The prophecy made by Pastor Salem was trending widely, so much so that even major news networks were interested in covering the story. The general opinion was that this would be the undoing of the cult leader.
Some law enforcement agencies were ready to bring charges against him for fraud and financial crimes. That afternoon a lot of people were waiting to see the outcome of the prophecy.
Some streaming from their phones, following live broadcasts of those on the island. Others were watching official news, following updates of reporters on whatever was happening at on the islands in the Liora Ocean.
So far, there was nothing to indicate that there would be trouble. It was drizzling lightly so some helicopters were giving tourists tours of their desired islands. The major airport on the main land was as busy as usual.
Fishing boats were out on the water, despite the light rain.
Janet Kailani, a reporter for the local news was interviewing a seller of surf boards by the roadside near one of the local beaches. She was infuriated because a group of kids were screaming and jumping in puddles so she could hardly hear what the man she was talking to had to say.
Almost magically, the kids quieted and she got the opportunity to ask a question she was asking everyone she had across that day.
Janet’s raincoat was flapping in the wind. "Are you going for the End of the world party?"
The man she was interviewing looked up at the sky. "Rain’s got a rhythm today so I think I might go. He offered free beer and meat."
Janet thanked him and moved on to the stall of a mango vendor to ask the same question.
The camera man turned the camera in the direction of the ocean for a moment. It was a smooth sheet of dull green, rolling slowly. There was no sign of trouble. But, the cameras missed the sight of the birds in the sky that appeared to be vacating the area.
Piko, the owner of the surf board shack noticed it. He got the chills. His great grandfather always said that a wise man followed the birds when weather changed. He closed up, entered his car and started the drive to his great grandfather’s home which was on higher ground.
At a luxury mansion whose gates were wide open for free entrance and exit, thousands of revelers that answered the party invitation online were turning up in drives.
They played loud music, screamed and popped champagnes as their cars drove onto the vacation property of one of the world’s wealthiest billionaires. The party extended to the private beach so despite the rain, many frolicked in the waters.
"So many idiots turned up." Sunshine joined a group of people that were having a late lunch while watching the happenings on the island.
Their group was still at Westbrook and they had spent most of the day preparing their future dwelling. Hades and the other men had been supervising the base and monitoring the work that was being done.
In three days, the workers would be gone, so they needed to make sure that every gap was closed tightly.
Hades helped Sunshine open a canned soda. Castiel reached for her and she carried him as they watched the broadcast on a live television. They were watching a live stream of someone called Machine the gun.
He was a friend of Garrick, the young man throwing the party. They had just finished the hanging of a jumbo screen that was counting down the time left for the prophecy to be fulfilled.
10 MINUTES TO GO! It blinked in bold shiny letters and fireworks were set off in the sky.
"Fireworks." Sunshine scoffed.
Hades sighed pitifully, "I almost feel sorry for them."
Castiel opened his mouth and Sunshine fed him a forkful of some soft fish.
Machine the gun appeared on the screen with his arm around a very under dressed woman. "Today we are going to prove to you at all that prophet guy was just saying bullshit!"
Warren Quinn was filled with regret. This party was the kind of party he loved best. It was wild, the women had questionable morals and there was booze in plenty, and it was at the beach. It was like a summer break party, and he loved those parties.
"Damn it! I wish I had made it there." He spoke sadly.
Some of the Quinn’s looked at him with frowns. Hades nearly kicked him off his stool.
Sunshine shook her head at him in disapproval. She turned her focus on the screen and in the distance, out of the water, she saw a ferry that had the last beacon church emblem.
"You have got to be kidding me." She rolled her eyes.
"The ferry." Hades jutted his head towards the tv screen. "Yeah I saw that in an earlier broadcast and I wanted to tell you about it but it skipped my mind. Do you think divine Moon is on it?"
A burst of laughter escaped her, bright and unexpected. "Moon! You think that she can be stupid enough to be on that ferry? Even if you gave her all the money in the world, she wouldn’t dare." Sunshine rubbed her wet eyes.
He leaned closer and said, "So, apparently, Pastor Salem sent them to the island in a helicopter. The crew that is witnessing the destruction of the non-believers are martyrs that have offered themselves for the cause.
"Martyrs my ass!" Sunshine mumbled. "They are just people that he has stupidly brainwashed to believe his nonsense." She answered.
Massive cheering came from the screen suddenly. Hades checked his wrist watch. It was 2:30, fifteen minutes had passed from the designated time of the Islands’ destruction. "Looks like nothing is going to happen." He shot a glance at the screen, the party goers were celebrating already.

Moon watched the feed in silence, close to her feet where shards of broken glass and she was wincing because a man was bellowing at her.
"You said that the Liora Ocean would swallow up those damn islands why is that not happening? Can you not see the future clearly anymore!" Pastor Salem let out a string of curse words. "I have become a fucking laughing stock, many of my followers are going to desert the church!" He hurled a vase in Moon’s direction.
"I-i do not understand but everything that I previously told you came to pass." Moon said with trembling lips, defending herself. "Give it more time, I am sure that it is going to happen. I will take all the blame if it doesn’t come to pass."
He cast her one sharp glare and sat in the chair, waiting on pins and needles.
The church clock chimed.
3:00pm.
Yet nothing happened, pastor Salem growled like a wounded lion. He rose form his chair and struck Moon across the cheek and then sent for his gun.

Garrick’s party was reaching ecstasy as the people writhed and sung in the rain. The DJ shouted. "It is 3:00pm and baby I am still very much alive!" He increased the bass loudly as if he wanted it to reach every corner of the earth.
Blow up dolls, one male and one female were dragged out of the mansion and hung in the sky. The male had a picture of Pastor Salem pasted on the face and the female had a picture of Moon.
Garrick and some of his friends got their guns and shot the dolls and people cheered.
More fireworks were set off, laughter soared. Online, memes of pastor Salem flooded social media. In one his face was pasted onto a fish whose mouth was wide open.
At 3:30pm, the ocean suddenly shifted.
