Once she left, Lei Qian turned to look at Bai Meiyue and then said to her, "Go on eat the meat. I left to stew it for the entire night, now the meat is really soft and chewy. Pulling the chopsticks out of the impatient Lei Qian's hand, Bai Meiyue took a small bite of the meat. After taking a bite her eyes lit up, and it was clear from the glint in her eyes that she was quite satisfied with the meal.

When Lei Qian saw that Bai Meiyue was satisfied, his lips couldn't help but curl in a satisfied smirk.

"What are you looking at?" Bai Meiyue asked when she sensed the man staring at her. She raised her head from the bowl and licked her lips before saying, "Don't you have anything else to do?"

Why was this man staring at her?

Lei Qian reached out and then wiped her lips with the pad of his thumb. He said to her, "I am quite free when it comes to you."

Bai Meiyue rolled her eyes at his cheesy lines. She finished the rest of the soup and said to him, "Thank you." Though she had some complicated feelings towards Lei Qian, Bai Meiyue wasn't going to forget her manners.

"No need, no need," Lei Qian waved his hand and stated, "I am glad that you liked it. If you don't mind, then I can stew soups for you every day." Lei Qian didn't know that

Bai Meiyue was not eating well these days due to her pregnancy. He just thought that she was too thin and wanted to make her eat something good that would fill her stomach and put some meat on her bones.

Bai Meiyue wanted to refuse instinctively but when she felt her son settling down, she couldn't help but change her decision. She couldn't understand why Little Cai was doing this to her. She was the one who was carrying him in her womb and yet he was favouring his father over her.

This was a bit too unfair.

Was her son a daddy's little minion? Why was he standing up for his dad like this!?

Bai Meiyue sighed unhappily. Things were indeed not as simple as she thought they were.

At that moment there was a loud scuffle followed by a yelp.

Bai Meiyue stood up when she heard the voices coming from outside and stepped out of the room; Lei Qian followed right after her.

As the two of them stepped outside, they saw Tong Huan charging at the man kneeling on the floor. When Bai Meiyue saw the woman rush at the thug who was held down by Xiao Wu, her eyes widened in surprise. Because she had never seen Tong Huan so angry before.

She immediately climbed down the stairs and walked over to where her brothers were standing and asked, "What's going on? Why are you all standing here?" Shouldn't they be stopping Tong Huan?

"Beast! Beast!" Tong Huan was screaming as she beat the man up on the floor, just as Bai Jixuan turned and looked at Bai Meiyue and replied, "This man, along with others, killed Miss Tong's adoptive parents."

When Bai Meiyue heard his response, she more or less understood the situation. But what she didn't understand was how this man came here. She raised her head and looked at Xiao Wu, who touched his nose and replied guiltily, "This man was following you, boss. He thought that Bai Meiyue would beg him for answers and that would extend his life but the woman only raised a side of her lip and smirked down at the man before stating in a chilling voice, "When did I say that I want you to answer any of my questions?"
