Chapter 46: Chapter 46: Lu Qingtang’s Explanation

"It’s her fault my husband has become like this! Lu Qingtang, you have to take responsibility for your actions!" Zhao Chunmei didn’t forget to give a triumphant look to Ma Yongcheng.

Her arrogance was literally written all over her face. She hadn’t forgotten how Ma Yongcheng refused to help her husband, so she planned to have him and his wife suffer the same fate as her husband!

"My husband is a righteous person. He must have seen this wretched woman doing something to hurt other beastmen. In order to silence him, she must have poisoned him!" At this point, Zhao Chunmei was agitated.

She let out a crazed laughter, then her gaze became ferocious when her eyes landed on Lu Qingtang again.

"You have heard all the witnesses’ words, what do you say, dog man?" The bear beastman smirked maliciously.

The white-haired elder also took a deep breath and looked at Ma Yongcheng kindly. "What do you think, Yongcheng?"

Lu Qingtang closed her eyes, letting out a breath and opened them again. Her gaze had become more determined. She hadn’t done anything, so why should she shoulder the blame?

Someone was framing her, implicating her kids and husband. Previously, her words of explanation seemed to have fallen into deaf ears. The people who had escorted her in that dilapidated place were unreasonable; grudge was clear in their faces.

She and her husband never actively provoke others. Why did they antagonize them?

"I have never done all the things you all have accused me of." Her voice was steady, because now she had someone she could rely on. "I previously have asked you all for proof, but you all never show me one."

"If it’s just slandering others based on words, making up stories, everyone can do that. If a three-year-old says such a thing without proof, will you believe their words?" Lu Qingtang clenched her jaw.

She looked directly into the witnesses’ eyes, devoid of guilt since she had never done these things. The witnesses were stunned, doubting themselves. However, soon, they convinced themselves they were in the right.

"I will repeat myself. Can you show me the proof that I have done these things?" Her voice was slightly hoarse, yet full of confidence.

At this moment, everyone seemed to realize they had never seen any evidence. All the accusations were based on some beastmen who were spreading malicious rumors about Lu Qingtang until they imprisoned her even without concrete proof.

Su Yining smiled happily when she saw this. Since she didn’t know whether there would be wicked people deliberately planting evidence to frame Lu Qingtang, she sadly had to leave the scene and find clues.

After all, Lu Qingtang was away from her home for too long. It would give a chance to plant things there.

Ma Yongcheng’s face changed when he heard that. "Utterly ridiculous. So, you all were declaring my Tang’er guilty without any evidence? Are your brains only for decoration?"

The beastmen were stunned, and their expression ever-changing, from the initial indignation to realization and embarrassment.

Still, some beastmen argued. "Then, how can you explain the witnesses’ words? Can things be so coincidental they all became fallen beasts shortly after a brief contact with her?"

Lu Qingtang took another gulp of water from Leng Chuan’s pouch, which had just been refilled by him. She pointed to the first woman who had claimed her husband was stolen by her.

"I don’t remember having too many interactions with your husband." She scrunched her face, trying hard to recall the person. Not long after, she gave up and asked the female beastman. "Can you tell me who he is?"

The female beastman gritted her teeth in hatred. "What are you pretending to be, stinky dog? You two were embracing each other and now you have forgotten about him? He is a tabby cat!"

As much as she hated saying it, she had to.

Lu Qingtang was sure it was a misunderstanding, but she still couldn’t recall the person. Ma Yongcheng whispered something to his wife’s ears, and the former finally remembered something. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

"Didn’t your husband have an eyesight problem?" She asked in an unsure tone.

The female beastman nodded reluctantly, snorting.

"I remember now... a tabby cat beastman with an eyesight problem. One of his eyes had been wounded and he was in the middle of recovery." She paused. "I only had a brief contact with him. He happened to stumble and I helped him to stabilize himself."

"He must have explained we have nothing to do with each other, but it’s your own stubbornness and paranoid mind who insisted that we have something going on." Lu Qingtang’s eyes were clear and pure.

Her words really struck a chord with the female beastman’s initial belief. Her husband had indeed explained it, and she kind of believed it although there was still resentment.

However, then an accident happened. He began to show signs of a fallen beast, and her hidden resentment made her think it was Lu Qingtang’s fault. Her mind began to weave various plots, and in the end, she blamed her even without any evidence.

Especially when someone had been whispering all sorts of subtle hints to her. Each word hinted toward Lu Qingtang’s involvement. On top of that, her grief also clouded her mind, making her unable to think clearly.

"If you have any evidence, please show it to everyone present." Ma Yongcheng sharp voice made the female beastman flinch.

She wanted to refute, yet unable to find suitable words. When she finally found a fault, Lu Qingtang already moved on to the second case.

Even if she wanted to refute her words, someone gave her a cue not to speak for the time being, so she could only suppress her dissatisfaction. That person must have a way...

"You can’t possibly be unaware of the things your husband did, do you?" Lu Qingtang let out a small laugh, which sounded sarcastic and jarring on the female beastman’s ears. She became a little pale.

"Your husband’s name is Wang Junjie. Does this name ring a bell?" Lu Qingtang coughed again, still a bit weak. Her husband’s disappearance had made her feel worried and listless for the past weeks.

"Wang Junjie..."

"Who is this person?" Someone asked curiously.
