Chapter 287: Chapter 287 : Where Is My Daughter?

With a long sigh, he said, "Liora... Xu Kai and his men were the first ones to be rescued. But there were many casualties on the other ships. We lost so many men. Out of them all, only thirty survived."

Liora took a sharp breath.

The death of Xu Kai’s men pressed against her chest. Even though she had never met them, she felt her heart suffocating. They were his comrades, his men, and now... they were gone from the world.

Atlas watched her expression before continuing. "After finding them, we were able to track you. But you were lost further in space... so far away, like someone had deliberately pushed you out there so we could not find you.

It was as if you were left to die on purpose. That is not possible, because a capsule cannot drift that far on its own. Normally, they are always found within a thousand kilometers."

Liora’s expression froze. Was someone really trying to kill her?

But even this shocking thought was nothing compared to Atlas’s next words.

"And... we were still not able to track your daughter... Aerish," Atlas finally said.

Liora felt her mind stop working. She stumbled some steps backward, like she could not believe the news.

"You are kidding... Atlas, right? My baby is fine," Liora stuttered, as if she was trying to convince herself with her own words.

How could her baby be missing?

Why was she not found when everyone else was already rescued?

No...he must be kidding.

She refused to believe that her baby was actually lost in space.

Just the imagination of her baby’s capsule floating in the vast, cold void made her gut wrench with agony. Tears pooled in her eyes.

"You’re lying, Atlas. Tell me you’re lying!" Liora broke down in sobs, her hands clutching his shirt painfully, her knuckles turning pale.

Atlas looked at her sobbing figure, trying to steady her already falling body. He knew just how painful these words were for her... but the situation outside did not allow him to hide anything.

He couldn’t hide this from her, not when things had become this dire.

She needed to pull herself together.

"Liora... look at me. Nothing happened to Aerish, okay? Xu Kai is constantly out there, searching for her. He hasn’t rested a single day. He’s still in space, tracking Aerish’s capsule. You have to believe him. Right?" Atlas spoke gently, trying to pull her out of her despair.

Crying was not an option here. Definitely not when their situation had become so much worse.

He needed her to know everything. About the outside world. About his doubt—the one he could only hope was a false alarm.

"Liora, you can’t cry. I know you’re the strongest. Xu Kai needs you now. Your daughter needs you. You have to find her, rather than crying like this..." At the end of his speech, Atlas’s voice turned stern.

Liora looked at him through her tears, and after a few seconds of staring into his hopeful eyes... she realized it.

She could not waste her time here, crying like this.

She needed to pull herself together—for her daughter.

Because it was her carelessness. If she had just clutched her daughter tightly and didn’t let her fall from her arms... maybe her daughter would still be here with her.

Now, she wouldn’t allow any more mistakes from her side.

But what Liora did not know... was that whether she had clutched Aerish or not, the outcome would have been the same. Aerish would have still been gone.

Atlas looked at her with a proud expression. He nodded at her and calmly said,

"Go freshen up. We’re waiting for you...Dad, Eli, and your friends."

With that, Atlas walked out of the room, gently closing the door behind him.

Liora sat on the bed for some time before she closed her eyes, inhaled deeply, and walked toward the washroom. It didn’t take long before she walked out with a fresh appearance and a calm gaze, filled with determination.

Just as she walked out of the room, she encountered Zhou Yinuo.

And the moment Zhou Yinuo saw her, she immediately crashed into her arms.

"Liora! I missed you so much! We finally got to see you!" Zhou Yinuo said in one breath.

She had been roaming just outside her room, not having the courage to go in and disturb her while she was in despair.

She only stayed because Atlas assured her it was okay to meet her.

Liora also clutched Zhou Yinuo in her arms, realizing just how much she had missed this warm hug.

Her first friend since she transmigrated here...no, since she arrived here.

Liora’s emotions rolled in waves—half because of Aerish, and the other half from meeting them after so long.

Because of that bastard... she couldn’t even see her friends. And now... she had also lost Aerish.

Liora’s eyes burned with fire, but she calmed herself. Now was not the time to lose control.

With that, she withdrew herself from Zhou Yinuo’s embrace and smiled at her. "I missed you too, my darling."

Zhou Yinuo smiled and said, "I’m so happy you’re finally here."

Then her expression softened as she added, "Liora, don’t worry about Aerish. She’ll be fine. Chen Wei and Zhao Ren went with Xu Kai to search for her. I’m sure she’ll be found soon."

Liora looked at her in surprise. "You knew everything?"

Zhou Yinuo nodded. "We found out everything. That you were in a relationship with Xu Kai, that you were married... and that you had a child."

Everyone knew.

And Liora tentatively asked, "And... what else do you know?"

"What else should we know?" Zhou Yinuo asked with a tilt of her head.

"...No, that’s it. We just hadn’t sorted out our relationship before, so we didn’t tell anyone. And... I actually forgot everything about my past. So I don’t remember him."

Liora replied, going with the half-truth.

"Hmm! That explains a lot. When we found you, you had a big head injury and had lost your memory. No wonder Xu Kai always looked at you like that... it must’ve been really hard for him to convince you that you’re his wife. Poor guy." Zhou Yinuo chuckled.

Liora also smiled with relief that she didn’t doubt her. And her lie—no, her truth from the past—actually helped her now.

She didn’t want to tell anyone about her transmigration or her system aside from her brother and Xu Kai.

It’s not because she didn’t trust them—no. But things like that are always better hidden. The fewer people who know, the better.

And just as both of them started walking toward the lower floor where everyone was gathered...

Ding...
