Chapter 33 - 33: Zombies in the Mall

They waited for a minute but heard no movement before pushing it completely open.

Hao took a flashlight from his space ring and illuminated the place. He looked at the wall near the door, found the switch, and pressed it. Light flooded the entire room allowing them to see everything clearly.

As they expected, it was a warehouse, and even though it was not completely full, it was at least three-quarters full. However, it didn't have grains or staples. Instead, it was full of boxes of canned food, snacks, bottled water, and drinks such as carbonated drinks and energy drinks.

The two didn't stand on ceremony and took everything in the warehouse. After leaving the warehouse, they opened the back door to check what was at the back, and we were lucky to discover two full gasoline tanks.

It looked like they had brought new supplies but didn't have time to empty the tanks before the fog. It was a blessing to them.

Miao used her spiritual energy to disable the surveillance cameras without leaving a trace and then collected the two tanks into her space. Once they were done, they left the supermarket, got into their car, and headed to their destination.

They arrived at the mall in twenty minutes. The only good thing about the apocalypse was that there was no traffic. But the lively scenes witnessed in the mall every day of people shopping, others eating in restaurants, and workers promoting their products were nowhere to be seen.

It was so quiet, except for the few zombies roaming in the underground parking lot of the mall.

The siblings decided to clear the zombies first before entering the mall. So, they took their swords again and chopped off the zombies' heads easily.

Since the mall belonged to their family, they had a key and didn't have to worry about having to break the door.

It looked like the manager of the mall was an experienced person. When people started turning into zombies, many panicked and didn't even think about closing their business, but from the locked door, it was obvious that the manager took the time to clear most of the people and locked the doors before leaving.

They opened the door and walked inside. The mall was brightly lit with every corner visible. The ground floor had a supermarket that stocked all kinds of daily necessities and food. They didn't even bother checking what was on the shelves as they collected everything into their space rings. Even the shelves were taken, leaving the floor bare.

They moved to the second floor, which had shops selling daily necessities and ladies' products such as lotions, body creams, sanitary towels, shower gels, and other necessities. Just like on the ground floor, they took everything here.

The mall belonged to their family so it was personal property. They didn't have to feel guilty about not leaving anything for those who might come later.

After clearing the first floor, they went to the second floor. Even though the elevator was working, the siblings chose to use the stairs as they felt it was safer and didn't have to worry about a zombie pouncing on them as the elevator door opened.

The second floor housed shops selling electronic products including laptops, phones, and computers. The two felt that these things were going to be useless soon, however, they still took a couple dozen phones and laptops as they wanted to download movies, documentaries, and other entertainment videos so they could watch when bored.

They didn't want to forget such civilization after going back to the dark era.

As they walked around the second floor taking the highest quality laptops and phones, they found a shop full of satellite phones and radios. They had hit the jackpot.

Without internet or network service, satellite phones would become very useful.

They took most of the products in the shop but left a few. If other people had the same idea as them, they could do them a favor.

The shop next sold a variety of power banks, including solar-powered power banks. They didn't stand on ceremony and took everything in the shop. They would need the power banks to charge their phones and laptops when watching whatever they downloaded.

After clearing the shop they moved to the third floor. This had several restaurants. However, they found that there was a small number of zombies in the restaurants. When the virus started to spread, it was still early in the evening and some people were still dining.

Some of the zombies in the restaurants were the workers serving the customers as they were still wearing their uniforms.

Since the siblings wanted to take whatever was in the restaurants, they had no choice but to clear the zombies. Even though there were more zombies compared to the ones they had faced in other places, they were still easy to deal with as they were very slow and their movements disorganized.

They chopped their heads off like cutting watermelon, and within twenty minutes, all the zombies on the entire floor were dead. It's disturbing to think of them as dead after cutting off their heads as they were already dead people to begin with.

Once all the zombies were cleared, they entered the first restaurant that used to serve all types of Chinese food. There were still some unfinished dishes on the tables. They didn't bother with the food, but they took the tables and chairs after dumping the unfinished food.

They went to the back, where the kitchen was,, and opened the refrigerator. It was packed with fresh ingredients, so they didn't stand on ceremony and took all the ingredients together with the refrigerator. There were still pots on the stove with food in them but they didn't bother about those.

However, Miao took the big clean pots as she felt they might need them in the future.

They checked the pantry, and like the refrigerator, it was filled with bags of rice, noodles, condiments like soy sauce, oyster sauce, and others. There were not many, but at least a dozen pieces of each. There were even two 20-liter gallons of oil, which they also took.

They took everything before opening a door that stood beside the shelves holding the ingredients.
