Chapter 50: Chapter 50 Greetings Boss

Enzo’s lips curled into a cold smile. "Second to you?" He let out a low laugh. "You came into my territory and you think I’ll bow to you?"

Ling Xuan glanced at him for a brief second before walking towards the comfy seat in the room, she sat on it like she owned it, her arms resting on the armrest.

"It’s your territory, and that is the only reason I’m giving you a little face." Ling Xuan said coldly.

The air cracked between them, but she didn’t let it stay quiet.

"I can destroy everything you have built so far in minutes, your people... your legacy," she paused, studying his gaze. "And the ones that remain will swear loyalty to me, should we do that? Or we can do it in a more civil way?" 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

The moment Ling Xuan finished talking, the sound of a gun cocking echoed through the room.

"Not if I blow your head first." Enzo pointed the pistol at her, aiming it at her head.

"If I were you, I would worry about the mole among my men first... after all, they are already making a move." Ling Xuan said nonchalantly, but her gaze fixated on him.

"Lies, you think I’ll listen to you?" Enzo replied with his eyes narrowed, his fingers clicked on the trigger, and he released it.

The sound of the gunshot echoed through the room.

Ling Xuan stared at the bullet flying towards her head, she swiftly tilted her head to the side, and the bullet flew past her, piercing through the chair and lodging in the wall.

Ling Xuan’s gaze darkened. However, Enzo continued firing bullets at her.

Ling Xuan sidestepped, and maneuvered, dodging the bullets. She flipped mid-air, maneuvering her way towards Enzo who was now stepping back as he continued firing at her.

Ling Xuan spun around, backing a few steps away from him, and she ducked, rolled on the ground, advancing towards him again.

Suddenly, the gun clicked but no bullets were fired. A quick glint of realization flashed through their eyes.

"Shit," Enzo cursed under his breath as he quickly reached for his other gun, however Ling Xuan moved swiftly, kicking the gun away from his hand, she grabbed his hand, and flipped him to the ground.

Meanwhile on the upper floor. The two men who were standing guard at the door, swiftly opened it the moment a knock came.

Huge men with black masks and suits entered the building with AK-47s in their hands.

They communicated with their fingers and divided themselves. Some went to the upper floor, others went to the basement where the weapons were stored, and the majority of them headed down to the underground.

They moved stealthily, using the walls as a cover.

One of Enzo’s men was walking hand in hand with a beautiful lady, ascending the stairs. Their laughter and giggles vibrated through the air.

The men in masks stepped out of the corner and shot the man in the head.

Blood splattered everywhere, splashing on the lady’s body.

"Arrghh!" Her scream tore through the air, the moment his body fell like a doll down the stairs.

She turned around to run for her, crying for help. Her voice died down abruptly, as a knife pierced out of her chest. She stared at the protruding blade before falling to the ground, her blood pooling beneath her.

The leader in front of them, other the men to force open the huge door.

The moment they entered the spacious underground. Gunshots rained through the air.

Enzo’s men fell on the ground dead, as they never expected such a sneak attack. The ones that managed to get their hands on their guns began to fire back.

Meanwhile back in the inner room. Enzo hit the floor hard, the impact knocking the air out of his lungs. His arms burned where Ling Xuan had twisted them behind his back.

He groaned, as he struggled to break free. His eyes were fixed on the gun lying several steps away.

"You see, I can easily kill you as if swatting off a fly." Ling Xuan clicked her tongue in annoyance, her fingers already itching to take his life.

She could not kill him yet, Ling Xuan knew very well that such force wouldn’t work as they did in her time. The modern people are cunning, even if she killed him, she could never access the roots of his influence, and that is exactly what she needed.

If she and Laurel are to fight against the Severance cult, steal their supplies, and destroy their bases, Enzo and his men would be the best people for the job.

"Let go of me! Let go!" Enzo grumbled.

"Shhh." Ling Xuan shushed him, gesturing for him to listen.

The faint sound of exchanged gunshots echoed from behind the door.

"I told you there was a mole." she clicked her tongue again, she wasn’t ready for this nuisance

Enzo’s eyes widened in horror, and he began to struggle more violently. "My men are in danger, I have to save them." His veins popped in his throat.

"I’ll let go if you promise to step down." Ling Xuan said calmly.

"Let go," Enzo yelled.

"Your words!" Ling Xuan finally snapped at him.

"Fine, fine. If my men and I survive this... we will swear loyalty to you." Enzo said through gritted teeth.

"That’s more like it." She let go of him, dusting her hand as if nothing had happened. "If you go back on your word, don’t blame me for being ruthless." She warned sternly.

Enzo’s eyes darkened but he didn’t utter a word. His arms were still hurting so badly that he couldn’t help but wonder how strong Ling Xuan truly was.

He walked towards the back of the room, he pushed the brick lining the wall, and a secret door opened, revealing different models of guns.

Ling Xuan’s gaze fell on the machine guns, and a smile bloomed on her face.

Back in the huge spacious underground room, the ground was littered with bodies of both the masked men and Enzo’s men.

They ducked, fired. Ducked. Fired.

It went on, until the door to the inner room opened. Enzo stepped out with two AK-47s in hand, and behind him, Ling Xuan stepped out carrying a machine gun strapped around her shoulders.

Both of them began firing at the masked men, with their backs against each other.

The masked men fell on the ground one after the other, but more of them rushed inside and began firing at Ling Xuan and Enzo.

They both ducked, taking cover behind an overturned table.

"Cover me." Ling Xuan said, as she rolled to the opposite table, and began shooting nonstop at them, hitting them precisely on their head.

She ducked again, and Enzo took his turn firing while she covered for him.

The gunshot battle went on for a while, before the last masked man fell to the ground. Blood pooled on the ground as bodies littered the floor.

The remaining men who survived the attack stepped out of their hiding place, and the women quickly ran out with their hands covering their mouths.

"Boss," The man with the snake and skull tattoo stepped forward, his expression grave. He held his hand which was grazed by a bullet.

"Find the men standing guard outside, now!" Enzo barked, finally losing his cool.

Ling Xuan stared at the machine gun, it was more effective than arrows, and it could even shoot nonstop.

"Everyone gather around," Enzo commanded.

And all the men stepped forward.

Enzo closed his eyes for a second before opening them. "Greet our new boss." He yelled, his pride and ego taking a blow it would never recover from.

Enzo’s words echoed through the underground room.

No one moved at first as confusion marred their face. But it was the rule to never disobey a mafia boss’s command.

One by one, they lowered their weapons and lowered their heads.

"Greetings Boss!" They shouted in unison.
