Apocalypse: Reborn with a Soul Sync Farming Space System-Chapter 21 Gold Digger Doing Farm Work
Laurel stepped forward, cautiously approaching the robot. "What...are you?"
"A caretaker. I take care of the space house, everything from cleaning, arranging to repairing it. Call me Lou."
Lou floated slowly into the air, coming closer to Laurel’s face. "Follow me, I’ll show you the storage space." It turned and headed to the blue door.
"Ling Xuan, do you feel any evil radiating from it?" Laurel asked, staring at Lou who was humming happily as it approached the door.
Ling Xuan’s fingers tightened around the hilt of her sword. She shook her head. "Let’s follow it and see what happens next."
A system with a caretaker was something Laurel hadn’t heard of before, and if there were people with this special system, they were rare.
The blue door groaned as it creaked open.
"Come in," Lou shouted, glancing over its small body.
The moment Laurel and Ling Xuan entered the room, it was like they had entered an entirely different world.
The roof was like a starry night, and wooden shelves covered the ground. It stretched far into the distance, and each section was labeled with the name of the goods on it like those in a supermarket.
Laurel opened her mouth to speak... suddenly a distorted voice rang in her head, pulling her out of the space.
"Madam Laurel." The voice rang from a distance.
Laurel materialised out of thin air, sitting in the power tiller.
She quickly climbed down, and the guard with the bald head walked out of the corner of the warehouse.
"Ma’am, you are here? I’ve been looking for you for a long time now." He said, staring behind her.
"I was taking a nap, Nate." she yawned as if she was just waking up.
Nate’s gaze softened slightly, though the suspicion in his eyes didn’t disappear. "It’s so late, aren’t you going home?"
"Thank you for checking up on me. I’ll be taking my leave now." Laurel said calmly.
She didn’t bother to change out of her clothes. She entered her car and drove back home.
When she got inside the Wayne mansion, as soon as she stepped out of the car she froze, her heart skipping a beat.
Alexander and Camile were talking outside, it seemed Camile was taking her leave, her eyes twinkling as the stars as they gazed at him.
Gaining her composure, she locked the door of her car and walked towards the entrance of the house.
However, Alexander caught sight of her from his peripheral vision.
"Laurel." He suddenly called. Without wasting more time on Camile, he hurriedly walked towards Laurel. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
Laurel continued walking. Her hands trembled as she clenched them into a fist, anger boiled inside her so badly that she wanted them dead.
Alexander grabbed her wrist, pulling her back. "I’m talking to you." He shouted.
Camile’s face darkened immediately as Alexander left. She had been slowly getting closer to him, and all of a sudden, the fool of her sister came back.
Her eyes narrowed at how close they were. Even though they were fighting, all she saw was how intimate they were, and how the man who was meant for her was suddenly snatched by her sister.
"If not for you, I wouldn’t end up with that sick bastard," Camile muttered under her breath.
"I did everything to be his woman, yet that bitch reaped the benefit." Camile clenched her fist so tight that her nails dug into her palms.
She inhaled deeply, wearing her mask of innocence and gentleness again, and she rushed towards. "Laurel." She called out.
Laurel’s eyes burned with irritation. This was the last place she wanted to be right now.
"Let go of me!" She yelled at Alexander, trying to break free from Alexander’s iron grip.
"Why? Tell me where you are coming from at this time of day? Did you go to meet another man again?" Alexander’s eyes narrowed dangerously at her.
"What is your damn business even if I did? It’s not like the marriage is out of love. And we can’t even call ourselves a couple, so why do you care?!" Laurel’s emotions burst like a dam. She scratched his hand, even trying to bite him.
Alexander’s eyes hardened, ignoring the pain burning through his hand. "How could you?" He asked, his voice cracking with hurt.
"Why do you care?" Laurel snapped at him.
"Because..." Alexander clenched his jaw as he swallowed his words.
Camile hurried forward, stepping in between them. "Stop fighting. Mr. Wayne, my sister didn’t mean to cheat on you... She’s not like that, it’s just that you neglect her so much that she has to go outside." Camile said so innocently, adding fuel to the already burning flames.
Laurel felt something snap inside, before the blink of an eye, she raised her hand, striking Camile’s face so hard that her head turned to the other side.
"How dare you tell lies?" Laurel’s voice shook. The hand she used to strike Camile’s cheeks trembled slightly beside her. She had never thought she would raise her hand against her sister, but this wasn’t the sister she thought she had.
The sister she loved only existed in her imagination, the one she had known was the weapon fashioned against her.
Camile held her face in disbelief. "You slap me?" She muttered in disbelief, her eyes swelling with tears.
"Laurel! You have become so overbearing lately." Alexander yelled, his hand tightened around her wrist.
"Then, why don’t you divorce me, and end our miserable marriage?" Laurel held his gaze, this was the first time she had looked so deeply into his eyes... no, she was never given the chance to look at him.
"No," Alexander muttered firmly.
"Let go!"
In the middle of their fighting, Alexander noticed the dirt on her body. Even dried leaves were in her hair, it was like she was coming from a farm.
A farm? Why would a gold digger do farm work?
Alexander creased his brows as he held Laurel’s hands pinning her against the wall. His eyes meticulously scanned over her body, he slowly brought his thumb closer to her face.
Then he pressed his thumb on her cheek, smearing the dirt further on her cheek.
It was really soil dirt. How is this possible? His frown deepened.
