Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts-Chapter 400 - 30 I Don’t Need to Explain_1
A furious roar echoed through Las Vegas, and then a large, dark shadow blotted out the sky, frantically lunging toward the Red Stone Hotel.
"What’s happening? What’s going on?" Claire’s panic-stricken voice echoed through the communicator.
"The plan has failed. Save yourself."
"He won’t go for the kill, right... Maybe if we explain to him, apologize..."
"Idiot," Kuangliu snapped, then switched off the communicator. He shattered his room’s window and landed in the street below the Red Stone Hotel.
Then, with electricity coursing through his body, Kuangliu sprinted through the narrow alleyways, attempting to lose Wen Yu by using the complicated twists and turns of the streets.
Some people in this world have interesting views. On one hand, they hope others adhere to certain rules, yet they themselves can’t resist the temptation to break those rules. This principle, in fact, mirrored what was currently unfolding.
The military had conspired to betray Wen Yu, believing they represented the greater good of humanity and that controlling him was therefore a justified action. An average person, like Claire for instance, wouldn’t perceive any issue with this. After all, from their perspective, they stood on the moral high ground, acting for the good of the Human Race, supposedly with no selfish motives. It was as if Wen Yu was obligated to consider the greater good of humanity; to do otherwise would be a heinous transgression.
Yet, when their plan unraveled, Claire naively believed Wen Yu wouldn’t resort to lethal force against Kuangliu and herself—or rather, against Sequence Number 3 and Sequence Number 5. After all, they were Sequence Numbers, representing the pinnacle of human strength and holding immense value for the Human Race. To perish at the hands of their own kind would be an utter waste.
However, they hadn’t considered Wen Yu’s feelings.
The greater good of humanity? This topic was too grand for Wen Yu—so grand he had never contemplated it, so grand he disdained to even think about it.
In Wen Yu’s eyes, the matter was very simple: someone had tried to kill him and failed, so now it was their turn to die!
If you want to kill, you must be prepared to be killed. This principle, at least to Wen Yu, was far more meaningful than any bullshit about the ’greater good’.
"I want to survive! That is my only goal! But you harmed me, so you are my enemy!" Wen Yu’s sense of right and wrong had always been this clear!
Kuangliu, however, was a smart man. He was absolutely certain of the fury Wen Yu must be feeling and knew very well the contempt Wen Yu held for notions like the ’greater good’. If he were caught, Wen Yu likely wouldn’t waste a single word on him before striking to kill immediately! So, Kuangliu ran as fast as he could.
In the dim alley, a figure quickly weaved its way through the complex terrain. The lightning that previously flickered around Kuangliu’s body was now concealed within him. In this state, the augmentation to his physical abilities from the Thunder was even stronger, yet not a single spark was visible externally.
Closely pursuing Kuangliu was a gigantic black shadow that blotted out the sky. Resounding dragon roars echoed everywhere, proclaiming who truly was the hegemon of the skies.
Standing atop Star, Wen Yu’s eyes were fixed on Kuangliu frantically darting about below, the anger in them having already transformed into pure, unadulterated killing intent.
"What’s wrong, Kuangliu? Why are you running?"
"Maybe, if you explain properly, tell me you had nothing to do with this, we could still reconcile, right?"
"Your attitude is making things very difficult for me... So, it seems you really do know the truth, then."
Kuangliu, however, uttered not a sound nor offered any defense, merely lowering his head and continuing his desperate flight.
The killing intent in Wen Yu’s eyes instantly intensified. Wen Yu’s earlier words were only intended to make Kuangliu hesitate for a moment. That brief pause was all Star needed to position itself above Kuangliu, whereupon Wen Yu would immediately unleash his techniques and eliminate him in the shortest possible time.
Unfortunately, Kuangliu wasn’t taking the bait.
"In that case... I’ll have to resort to sheer force! Don’t disappoint me..."
Purple light flickered in mid-air, and in the next second, Star’s figure vanished without a trace.
Wen Yu, still suspended in mid-air, instantly entered a combat state.
Third Soul Realm Empowerment—Dragon Blood Amplification (SSS-Class, Active Ability).
Fifth Soul Realm Empowerment—Netherworld (Esoteric Level, Passive Ability)!
Then, the Netherworld engulfed reality, and darkness began to spread...
Kuangliu, who had been fleeing frantically, came to an abrupt halt. The sudden ’braking’ motion gouged two deep trenches in the earth beneath his feet.
Wen Yu was already standing a short distance in front of Kuangliu.
A faint mist permeated the surrounding space. Combined with the omnipresent dark power, the Netherworld briefly merged with the darkness.
And when the Netherworld overlaid the real world, Wen Yu, as the Realm Lord of the Netherworld, was naturally empowered by its immense might!
In this vast domain where the Pitch-dark World and the Netherworld merged, Wen Yu was the god of this realm!
Instantaneous Movement, control over space, alteration of rules—here, Wen Yu was omnipotent.
"So, do you have anything else to say?"
Looking at Wen Yu’s grim expression, Kuangliu heaved a heavy sigh.
"I want to say that I didn’t actually do anything. Would you believe me?"
