Chapter 688: Chapter 566: The Afterimage of the Past_3

When the truth of the Town of Dusk was revealed to Huai Shi in fragments, it seemed as if the scenes and wails from those illusions once again rang in his ears.

The despair that had accumulated underground, nearly forming a tide, was unfathomable.

It was hard to imagine what sort of end they had ultimately faced. However, the sheer volume of resentment lingering here was proof of the unimaginable horror of their torture.

The world on the brink of extinction, under the seduction of the Hell Workshop Masters, had morphed into the Hell before his eyes. It seemed empty at a glance. Yet, in Soloist’s perception, it was filled with innumerable sufferings and despair, so much that it was suffocating to behold.

He finally understood what Beelzebub had once complained about.

The keener the perception, the more one knew, the more one could sense the hidden ferocity.

He rubbed his forehead and looked up to ask,

"Why tell me all this?"

Michel’s footsteps finally halted in front of the console.

"You’re just incidental..."

The middle-aged man with graying hair finally turned around. He looked at Huai Shi with disdain and asked, "Mikhail, you’re watching me, aren’t you?"

He stared into Huai Shi’s eyes as if he could glimpse the figure hidden behind Huai Shi.

At this moment, within the Iron Crystal Throne, a Raven stood upon a stand before the vast curtain. Its eyes emitted light, projecting Michel’s greeting into the air.

The overseers turned slightly pale.

The Great Grandmaster remained unmoved, hands folded, simply gazing indifferently at Michel’s face, saying nothing.

But Michel seemed to have received a response, showing a mocking, cold smirk.

"—Watch closely, this time, I have already gotten ahead of you!"

No sooner had he finished speaking than, behind Michel, the Airship’s hull suddenly shook. Amidst the whirring of countless machines, its massive outer shell began to slowly open.

Revealing the cursed world outside, bathed in darkness and blood-red rain.

When thunder suddenly flashed across the clouds, it lit up the sinister contours upon the land.

Spotlights flickered on one after another, casting cold, white, incandescent light upon the earth below. This exposed the grand silhouette of that massive artificial structure.

It was a structure made of vast amounts of steel, a geometric marvel that left spectators speechless.

In just a few days, a pyramid over two hundred meters tall had risen from the ground—an Aztec Pyramid!

Connected by a complex web of circuitry, this alien edifice had deeply wedged itself among the mechanisms of the Town of Dusk, forcibly merging them into a single entity.

Huai Shi could vaguely see, beneath the torrential downpour, Liz in her sacrificial robe, trekking across the land. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

Carrying a Border Relic from the American Genealogy in her hands.

Step by step, she ascended the pyramid’s stairs, heading towards the totem that represented the old gods.

A Mystic Ritual from the Current Circumstances was about to commence here.

With each step she took, the metal-built pyramid would abruptly begin to transform, shifting towards ancient architecture. By the time she was halfway, it appeared as though the entire pyramid had already endured millions of years, revealing numerous traces of moss and decay.

But the emerging violent Divine Nature was becoming ever more distinct.

This pyramid was step by step transforming from a counterfeit to a true residence of the gods...

At this moment, aboard the Airship, hundreds of Source furnaces roared to life. They burned Source Crystals, amassing tremendous power for the upcoming Mystic Ritual.

But Huai Shi suddenly felt his vision darken.

He could not help but want to retreat.

His skin crawled with dread.

In front of the console, a figure slowly emerged. It wore a decaying Crown. Its Vestment robe remained majestic, and the Crown itself was lavish, yet beneath it was a grim, skeletal face.

It was the same appearance he had seen in the underworld, the Phantom of the Sun Caster!

The people around seemed unaware, still busily rushing to and fro, as Huai Shi gaped in astonishment, unsure whether to alert them.

But as he hesitated, Michel took bold strides toward the control levers behind the Sun Caster.

"Wait..." Huai Shi instinctively wanted to stop him.

But Michel was undeterred, continuing forward indifferently, pressing closer step by step. As he walked into the Sun Caster’s phantom, his stride paused for a moment. It was as if he could see what Huai Shi was seeing, yet he showed no fear or hesitation.

He whispered something softly, then moved without hesitation, shattering the vestigial Afterimage.

In his hands, the final lever was pulled.

That moment, the Town of Dusk trembled violently.

A piercing wail suddenly erupted from the deepest darkness, agonizing everyone’s eardrums.
