Apocalypse Baby-Chapter 160: Final Battle
"You’re easy to read, kid. Like a book."
Onigi’s blade came down like a hammer.
Dorion barely had time to react.
He swung his scythe up, metal clashing against metal with a sharp clang.
His arms trembled as Onigi pressed down, the weight behind the strike forcing him to grit his teeth.
"You’re no warrior," Onigi sneered. "You’re only a child."
Dorion’s grip tightened.
He refused to flinch.
"Old man, are you seriously going to kill a child?" he shot back, voice laced with mockery.
Onigi chuckled, dark and amused.
"Wouldn’t be the first."
Dorion gulped.
That wasn’t a bluff.
A cold chill ran down his spine, and in a flash of panic, he swung wildly, knocking Onigi back.
The man barely stumbled before flipping into a smooth retreat, landing light on his feet.
Dorion sucked in a breath.
His heart was pounding.
His scythe pointed at Onigi as he barked:
"Haven’t you seen the armies ahead of us?! We need our full strength to face him!"
Onigi didn’t move.
Didn’t blink.
Then, he sighed.
"Young man…" he muttered, voice almost disappointed. "Have you gone deaf?"
Dorion’s frown deepened.
Something in Onigi’s demeanor turned sharp, the casual playfulness draining from his face like ink washing off paper.
Then, his eyes darkened.
"Didn’t I tell you?"
He lifted his katana. Icicles bloomed along the blade, glistening in the dim light, the air around them turning frigid.
"It doesn’t matter what happens around me."
He stepped forward.
"I am taking your head—no matter what."
Dorion gritted his teeth as Onigi attacked again, meeting the old man blade in a shower of sparks.
Alex watched the fight.
Without another glance, he turned away, focusing back on the real threat—the Grim Lord and its army of monsters.
Then, a notification flashed before his eyes.

RROOOOAARRR!
A monstrous bellow shattered the air.
The Grim Lord’s eyes blazed, golden light burning in its sockets. It threw both hands to the sky, and the effect was instant.
A wave of power rippled through the battlefield.

The creatures behind it howled and shrieked, their bodies thrumming with newfound energy.
The very ground shuddered beneath their voices, a deep, unrelenting tremor that sent loose stones tumbling down the mountainside.
Behind the Grim Lord were more monsters.
Some looked just like it—towering, skeletal beasts with armor plating their bodies.
But there were also twisted creatures, animal-like but wrong, their fur and flesh fused with gnarled branches and rotten bark.
Their eyes glowed a sickly green, their breaths slow and heavy.
Then there were the humanoid undeads, the players were used to, their faces frozen in grotesque grins just like the vendor.
Then came the lava monsters.
They lurched forward, their bodies a chaotic mess of molten rock, jagged stone, and flickering embers. Their limbs melted and reformed with every step, like they had no solid shape—just pure, burning destruction.
They were hideous.
A tangled mismatch of horrors, oozing heat so intense that the very ground beneath them sizzled and cracked.
Enough to make any sane player hesitate.
Freya muttered, her voice tight with fear.
"Are we really going to face them all?"
Alex stepped forward. Unbothered. Unshaken.
"Yeah."
He watched the monsters, eyes scanning their movements. Sizing them up. Calculating.
What’s the best way to deal with them?
Blow them up?
Maybe.
But something nagged at him.
The Beast Lord had already seen his power back in the earlier trials. It wasn’t stupid. If it expected him to use explosions, then it would have something prepared.

Still… no harm in testing it.
Alex raised his sword, the blade gleaming under the eerie glow of molten bodies.
He tapped into [Exploding Touch].
Then, with deliberate precision, he stacked explosion disks onto the blade—one after another.
Each one a promise of destruction.
Then, with a flick of his fingers, Alex activated [Dismiss]
The explosion disks vanished from his sword—only to reappear mid-air, streaking toward the monster army like silent, invisible bombs.
But the Grim Lord reacted instantly.
Its glowing eyes flashed, and both of its massive hands shot up.
A barrier snapped into existence—a shimmering, translucent wall of raw magic. The disks slammed into it… and vanished.
Blocked.
Alex’s brows furrowed.
That barrier...
It felt familiar.
Like the skill the Cockatrice King had used before—a defense skill that rendered all mana-based attacks useless.
From behind the barrier, the Grim Lord let out a low, rumbling laugh.
"Puny human, your tricks will have no effect on me."
Then it moved.
With one fluid motion, the Grim Lord raised its colossal sword and swung.
WHOOSH!
The blade sliced through the air, a monstrous arc of force ripping toward Alex.
Alex twisted his body just in time.
The sword missed—barely—but the sheer force of it wasn’t just for show.
BOOM!
The ground where he’d stood exploded, chunks of rock and dirt launching into the air. The impact tore a deep scar into the battlefield, the edges still trembling from the blow.
The shockwave rushed past Alex’s face, sending his shirt whipping behind him.
A few feet away, Ezekiel’s breath hitched.
He could feel it now—the sheer, overwhelming power they were up against.
Freya took a sharp step to the side, eyes locked on the massive crater left by the Grim Lord’s attack.
The sheer force of it…
She gulped.
If she wanted to survive this final battle, then one thing was clear—going anywhere near that thing was a death wish.
Meanwhile, Alex exhaled slowly.
The lingering heat from the attack brushed against his face.
That was close.
If that sword had connected, there’d be no second chances.
He’d be split clean in half.
Even [Aegis Arcane] wouldn’t save him from that kind of raw power.
But instead of fear…
Alex grinned.
The Grim Lord was strong.
And with its barrier nullifying mana-based attacks, there was only one solution—close combat was inevitable.
Alex raised a hand using [Multiplicity]
Instantly, his copies materialized behind him, stretching their arms with cocky grins.
Each of them was eager, ready.
Then, Alex activated [Foresight].
As soon as he did, the Grim Lord reacted.
Its burning eyes narrowed as it saw multiple Alexes appear.
Then, with a deep growl, it began to move.
The massive chains wrapped around its arms dragged across the battlefield, sparking against the stone.
Alex stepped forward.
The Grim Lord’s steps grew faster.
Alex matched its pace.
The air between them thickened.
The ground trembled.
Then there was a pause.
A single heartbeat stretched between them.
Then...
BOOM!
They exploded into motion at the same time.
Weapons raised.
The force of their charge churned the air into a vortex of power.
Then....
CLANG!
Their blades collided and the force of impact shook the entire battlefield.
The final battle had begun.
