Antihero In the Hero Academy: I Can Connect the Past Heroes-Chapter 19: Ambush
Chapter 19 - Ambush
Arriving at the last resting point before reaching the great city of Herria, the group abandoned their carriages to camp in the great clearing.
Atlas, unlike everyone else, did not sit down and waited, leaning against the sign indicating the rest centre. On his chest, he held the sword he had taken out of his inventory with the help of his arms.
This sword was an extremely valuable sword that he managed to get his hands on during his treasure hunt:
[Sacred Swordman's Holy Sword(Legendary+++++)
The sword of one of the holy aura masters, born at the dawn of the aura arts, on the threshold of a world dominated by sorcerers. The name of the owner of this sword is no longer remembered, but what is remembered about him is how he was one of those who managed to save a generation and the world from the hands of monsters.
When wielding the sword, the user's comprehension of the aura arts increases by 30%.
When the user wields the sword, the speed of using the aura in the user's body increases by 30%.
The user ignores 50% of the enemy's defence when slashing and slashing with the sword.
The user gains 30% defence against 'holy' and 'demonic' powers thanks to the power of the sword.
The user gains 30% attack power against 'holy' and 'demonic' forces thanks to the power of the sword.
The user tires 60% slower against 'holy' and 'demonic' forces due to the power of the sword].
This was probably one of the most valuable things he gained during his treasure hunt. To put it bluntly, the sword itself was enough to give him incredible benefits just by 'wielding' it. The sword did not even need to swing itself.
The staff at his waist was worth less than a toothpick compared to the sword in his hand.
He was just waiting and the people around were trying to set up their tents and plan who would stay with whom.
After almost an hour of waiting, Atlas slowly opened his eyes and then approached the nobles who had pitched their tents and made his way close to them.
Turning towards the group of elves, demi-demons, dwarves and humans, Atlas calmly asked, "I want you to calm down. How many of you have killed anyone or have any real combat experience?"
Each of the nobles was frankly bewildered, how could they not be?
Nevertheless, about ten of them raised their hands and with that Atlas said the following words:
"Calm down as much as you can and try to protect everyone, noble or not, there are people around us...in the forest, and they're making their bloodthirsty intentions known seriously."
With Atlas' words, the group of nobles became very worried. Yet each of them had been trained for this exact situation. It was a life lesson, a way for each of them to break away from their families and show that they were truly great.
"What are you going to do?" asked the young elf, perhaps the brightest of the nobles.
"I will try to stop them from approaching you, just protect yourself and the others," Atlas replied, and instantly his whole body trembled.
He instantly unsheathed the sword in his left hand and swung it behind him.

"CHING!!!"
The sword Atlas was holding suddenly struck an arrow made of metal and the arrow flew several metres backwards.
At that moment, 9 people dressed in black clothes and wearing masks up to their eyes came out of the wooded area that was nearby.
Even though they were quite surprised by what Atlas had done, each of them knew exactly who he was.
"Atlas. The younger brother of the esteemed aura master Eva the Queen of the Battlefield. I see Eva has trained you well in aura," one of the nine said.
Atlas' plan seemed to have worked already. In his previous life, when he could barely cast spells and could barely conjure tiny flames, he had tried to attack this nine, and almost died, but with the power he received from Nyx, he could only hold out until the arrival of the professors from the academy.
He could only stay alive till the professors reached here or just kill every last one of the enemies.
Now that he could use powerful spells, he wanted to use a method that could fool the nine in front of him. He would trick the nine assassins into thinking that he was only using a low-level aura, and then he would catch them unawares with his magic.
The nobles were clearly frightened. Each of them went to the non-noble children and tried to protect the commoners like the perfect nobles of this empire.
Three of the nine assassins were already heading towards the nobles. That was enough to tell them who the real target was. Even Atlas himself didn't know this, it hadn't happened in his previous life, or he didn't remember it happening.
One thing was certain, though. He couldn't forgive himself if he had been the target before and he was only now realising it.
He clenched his teeth tightly, the sounds of his teeth rising in the space where only the sounds of crying and worry had risen.
With that, Atlas lunged forward. Of the six assassins before him, two wielded knives, two wielded swords, and two appeared to be mages.
Atlas could instantly tell that the mages were third-grade, but he had no idea what the level of the other four aura users was.
Still, despite all this, there was no way Atlas could lose. He had fought battles that the other six couldn't even imagine. He had killed more people and enemies than they could ever imagine and had spilt more blood than they could ever imagine.
As he charged forward, knife-wielding aura warriors instantly appeared in front of him. Atlas was pleased to see that none of them had auras gripping their weapons. After all, this meant that they were only first-grade aura warriors and could only strengthen their bodies.
It also meant that he could use his magic to kill the duo in seconds.
He had to be fast, he had to quickly destroy the duo in front of him, then kill the remaining four, and then slaughter the three leading to the others.
He had to race against time.
The "+" you'll see nearby some things Atlas gains shows the rarity and the amount of worth that thing will have.
So it can have "-" and "+" and only a maximum of 5 of them. Will show how "not" rare it is in that grade which is "Legendary, Unique, Epic" and such.
