Ant Lord in the Star Realm-Chapter 524 - 504: Guidance from the Quandong Divine Tree, The Path to Supreme Power
The cold wind howled.
In recent days, the temperature at Huagi Mountain had plummeted. Although it had not yet snowed, the lakes at the foot of the mountain were already frozen over.
Inside the Knowledge Hall, warm in winter and cool in summer, Ivy lay obediently on top of Yellow Stem.
Yellow Stem was leisurely swaying its tentacles, pointing at the paintings on the rock wall and explaining them to Ivy, when its movements suddenly stiffened. After a moment of thought, it walked slowly towards the cave entrance and looked out. Seeing Ivy shivering with cold on its head, Yellow Stem stepped back two paces.
Ivy said, "Dragon Cypress Ant King and Mountain Lord Ink Orchid..."
The Dominating Throne, trailing a long blue tail of Primordial Energy, slanted down towards the ridge near the Quandong Divine Tree.
Ivy said, "It seems something has happened..."
Yellow Stem replied, "It seems so..."
Ivy asked, "Didn’t Mountain Lord Ink Orchid say that this winter he planned to search the dangerous waters of Molan Continent for the Divine-Given Seed?"
Yellow Stem mused, "Perhaps he encountered some danger. Let’s wait for them to come up the mountain and talk."
...
"Quandong Divine Tree!" Dragon Cypress and Ink Orchid greeted.
"Dragon Cypress Ant King. Ink Orchid," the Quandong Divine Tree responded, slowly asking, "Are you in trouble again?"
Ink Orchid said, "Yes... There might be a bit of trouble..."
The Quandong Divine Tree asked, "Just ’might be’?"
It continued, "It’s only been a few days into winter, and you’ve fled back from Molan Continent again."
Ink Orchid corrected, "This is called a temporary withdrawal..." He then added, "Quandong Divine Tree, on this exploration, Dragon Cypress and I found out some important information..."
Ink Orchid spoke quickly, recounting the events that had occurred within the Thousand Reef Archipelago. Finally, he asked, "Quandong Divine Tree, do you think that the ’Nightfall’ ability granted by the Divine-Grade Dew Pocket Fruit can block the perception of the Soul-Setting Fruit?"
The Quandong Divine Tree declared, "Yes!"
It continued, "Currently, three major types are known to block the perception of the Soul-Setting Fruit. The first is what you just mentioned: Soul System Divine-Grade Fruits, like the Dew Pocket Fruit, that grant the ability to shield spiritual power."
"The second type is certain special alloys which, under the enhancement of Primordial Energy, might exhibit effects that shield the perception of the Soul-Setting Ability."
"The third type is the Carapace of certain Insect Clan Warriors, which might naturally possess the ability to shield the perception of the Soul-Setting Ability. However, such Insect Clan members have only been found in one Tribe so far: the Dry Stone Green Ground Beetle Tribe to which Chinese Clematis belongs."
Ink Orchid exclaimed, "Oh—"
He lamented, "That’s really terrible, losing 230 square kilometers of territory. Going forward, Dragon Cypress and I will have to take detours around Fragrant Silk Island and Twin Pillar Island."
The Quandong Divine Tree advised, "Dragon Cypress Ant King, Ink Orchid, this way of courting danger is no long-term solution."
Dragon Cypress stated, "With Soul-Setting Ability Perception and stealth diving using the Dominating Throne, under normal circumstances, there should be no danger."
He added, "This time it was my oversight; I hadn’t expected a flying dragonfly to come from the sky."
The Quandong Divine Tree said, "You’ve been careless twice now."
It continued, "Dragon Cypress Ant King, your wisdom far surpasses that of the usual Insect Clan, and your actions are prudent. Perhaps Huagi has been negligent and didn’t inquire further about the exploration of the Southern Hemisphere Continent. Let me offer you some advice."
The Quandong Divine Tree then asked, "From what I understand, you were riding the Dominating Throne, speeding through the air?"
Dragon Cypress confirmed, "Yes..."
The Quandong Divine Tree said, "Not wise. Or perhaps, Dragon Cypress, you rely too much on the Dominating Throne, confining your thinking to the Throne itself. Consider this: if an ordinary insect navigating the vast ocean or deserted islands encountered other insects, would it senselessly call for battle?"
Ink Orchid ventured, "...I suppose not?"
Dragon Cypress conceded, "...It’s not impossible."
The Quandong Divine Tree explained, "It’s an action that brings no benefit and could potentially cause trouble—something normal insects would not engage in."
It then posed, "Now think, if on the vast ocean or deserted islands, you encounter two insects, weak in strength but carrying a God-Level Outworld Civilization Artifact, what would you do?"
The Quandong Divine Tree continued, "A tremendous benefit is within reach, and the chance of getting caught and facing trouble is minimal. You would definitely kill the insects and seize the treasure, right?"
Ink Orchid agreed, "...Right!"
The Quandong Divine Tree asked, "Dragon Cypress Ant King, you’ve always been sitting on the Dominating Throne, thinking of diving deep into the sea to escape danger if faced with it, right?"
Dragon Cypress admitted, "...Right."
He then said, "Quandong Divine Tree, I understand your point. By hiding the Dominating Throne, if we encounter other insects, the possibility of conflict drops to its lowest point, thus enhancing safety."
The Quandong Divine Tree affirmed, "Exactly. You should change your way of thinking."
It suggested, "Isn’t your Dominating Throne capable of shrinking? Try hiding it in your mouth. It can be released just by opening your mouth when needed; it’s just as convenient. Keeping something in your mouth will definitely feel awkward at first, but it will get better over time. Besides, you can also practice mastering the action of swallowing and spitting. In a dire situation where you need to use the Dominating Throne to dive deep into the sea, you could swiftly spit it out."
Dragon Cypress was stunned. "!!!"
He exclaimed, "Great idea!"
Ink Orchid quietly jumped onto the Throne, clearing it of any clutter.
The moment Dragon Cypress had the thought, the Dominating Throne rapidly shrank, transforming into a small ball, four centimeters in diameter, which he then took into his mouth.
The Dominating Throne was heavy, and its weight did not change with its size. With Dragon Cypress’s current Strength, it was still immovable. Hidden in his mouth, he constantly had to divert his focus to control its movement, keeping it floating or moving along with him.
Dragon Cypress tried walking a few steps; it was quite uncomfortable and strenuous. To operate it smoothly would require a lot of practice.
Upon opening his mouth and controlling it with his Mind, the Dominating Throne floated out and rapidly enlarged.
Dragon Cypress exclaimed, "Quandong Divine Tree, your wisdom is profound!"
Ink Orchid also expressed, "Quandong Divine Tree is so clever!"
The Quandong Divine Tree said, "A trivial matter. These are just a few minor issues that you hadn’t noticed; I merely pointed them out in passing."
After pondering for two seconds, the Quandong Divine Tree changed the subject. "Dragon Cypress Ant King, Ink Orchid, I see you both coming and going, bustling about in disarray, without a clear goal."
