Chapter 263 - 235 Brian Reynald Playing Contra Part 3

Brian barely had time to recover before the next level loaded. Stage 7 - Hangar. His heart sank immediately. He already knew this was going to be brutal. The screen was a chaotic mess of moving platforms, conveyor belts, and enemies positioned at every possible angle, ready to gun him down.

"This game just keeps getting worse!" he groaned, gripping the controller so tight his knuckles turned white.

The first section threw him into a barrage of turrets, armed soldiers, and deadly pitfalls. He jumped between moving platforms, barely managing to avoid bullets from enemies stationed above. His Spread Gun was a lifesaver, clearing out multiple enemies at once, but even with that, the relentless attacks didn't stop. A misplaced jump sent him plummeting into an instant-death pit.

"NOOO! Not like that! FUCK FUCK FUCK" Brian shouted, slamming his fist against the couch.

Respawning at the last checkpoint, he tried again. This time, he made it slightly further, only to be ambushed by enemies with shields. He fired wildly, but his bullets bounced off, giving them enough time to throw grenades directly onto his path. Another death.

"You have GOT to be kidding me! This game is SHIT!"

After multiple failed attempts, Brian finally made it to the final section of the Hangar—only to be met with an enormous, futuristic fighter jet equipped with rapid-fire cannons and missile launchers. The jet hovered ominously before launching a barrage of homing missiles.

"WHAT THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO DO HERE?! EATING Shit!?" Brian screamed as the screen filled with explosions. He died in seconds.

Retry. Death. Retry. Death. His frustration reached its peak.

Brian ran his hands through his hair, feeling the exhaustion creeping in. His thumbs ached, his eyes burned from staring at the screen for too long, and yet, he refused to quit. "I will NOT let this stupid jet beat me!"

On his tenth attempt, he changed his strategy. Instead of trying to dodge every single missile, he focused on a pattern—jump, fire, crouch, move. Slowly but surely, he chipped away at the jet's health. His last life flashed before his eyes as he barely dodged a final wave of bullets. With one last desperate shot, the jet exploded into flames, sending debris scattering across the screen.

"YES!! EAT THAT, YOU PIECE OF SHIET" Brian didn't even finish his sentence before the screen transitioned to the next stage.

Stage 8 - Alien Lair.

Brian's stomach dropped. The industrial setting of the previous stages was gone, replaced by grotesque, organic structures. The walls pulsed like living flesh, and alien creatures slithered across the screen. Everything about this level felt different.

"Oh, hell no... this is some horror movie shit, is that fucking Maggot? damn look at them mouth" Brian muttered, gripping the controller tighter.

The enemies were faster, more unpredictable. Alien warriors lunged at him with blinding speed, and giant insect-like creatures crawled from the walls. His usual tactics didn't work anymore. He died over and over, barely making it past the first segment. He started doubting himself.

He began to re-think his life "Maybe I should just give up," he whispered. Zaboru actually makes the game become harder than the Original Contra from his previous world which is already diabolical.

His hands trembled slightly as he hovered over the restart button. But then, he shook his head. "No. I've made it this far. I AM beating this game."

Pushing forward, he reached the lair's heart—an enormous pulsating alien mass that spewed out enemies while launching massive energy blasts. It was the final boss.

Brian barely had any lives left. He dodged frantically, firing nonstop. Every mistake cost him. He watched in horror as his last life ticked away—one hit and it was over. The boss was almost dead, but so was he.

"This is it," he whispered. "One shot left."

The screen slowed as he fired the final bullet. The boss let out a horrific screech, shaking violently before exploding into a mess of red pixels.

The screen faded to black.

Brian sat frozen as the ending cutscene played—Bill and Lance escaping the collapsing alien stronghold. The credits rolled.

He had done it.

Brian dropped the controller, leaned back, and let out a deep, exhausted sigh. "Holy sh*t... I finally beat this unfair ass game."

A wave of relief washed over him. The frustration, the anger, the countless retries—it was all worth it. A tired grin spread across his face.

"Hardest damn game I've ever played. But damn... that was awesome."

He sat there, watching the credits scroll by, soaking in the moment. His battle was over.

"Heh!, time to beat this game with Lance!" he grin didn't realize he enjoyed being tortured by hard games!
