Chapter 166 - 166 ⟴ She's Going to Get Herself Killed One Day
"Sigh! Iroha, when did you get here?" Turning around, she noticed the sliding kitchen door had been cracked open.
A small head poked through, giving Ayase a death glare filled with such intense dissatisfaction and resentment that it left her speechless.
Her fair, jade-like face instantly turned crimson red like a gorgeous sunset, her moist timid eyes making one's heart flutter.
'Those shameless things I just said — did she hear all of it? Is she going to completely cut ties with me?' Ayase's thoughts were in chaos.
Those words that had slipped out were originally meant to persuade Daiki to reform.
Though there was some opportunistic thinking mixed in, her true intention wasn't to take advantage, but rather to protect Iroha from getting too involved.
"Iroha, let me explain — what I said earlier wasn't meant like that. I was trying to persuade Senpai to end his improper relationships. After all, Daiki-senpai is dating Miku-senpai, and two-timing is really unfair to her. He should focus on either Miku-senpai or Miss Mei, and stop contact with other romantic interests — that's what I meant."
Perhaps because she had been healed by his Reverse Cursed Technique and experienced something unprecedented, Ayase's earlier words had been somewhat biased.
Only now had she finally managed to express what she truly meant to say, and after finishing, she slowly let out a breath.
The gas stove's flames could still be heard throughout the kitchen as Iroha stood in the doorway, blinking her bright eyes.
She quickly processed Ayase's meaning — basically, she wanted Senpai to break off contact with her, Iroha, and focus on Miku?

How could that possibly work?!
She had fought so hard to get this far, and now with one word from Ayase, all her efforts would be wasted — absolutely not!
"Hmm! Your words are biased, Ayase. They're not even married — what law says you can't like someone who has a girlfriend?"
Hearing Iroha's sophistry, Ayase immediately became anxious. How could such unhealthy thinking exist in this girl's mind?
"That's not right! Don't you feel uncomfortable thinking about Daiki-senpai's relationship with Miku-senpai? How could you possibly date normally?" Ayase's expression was serious.
She would never accept Iroha's twisted logic — her principles, morals, and upbringing wouldn't allow it!
As if intimidated by her intensity, Iroha glanced at the serious girl, then at Daiki who was still cooking. Suddenly, her lips curved into a bright smile, and right in front of Ayase, she stood on tiptoes and wrapped her arms around his neck.
Smooch!
Ayase's pupils instantly dilated in shock.
Iroha playfully stuck out her pink tongue against his neck, blinked her autumn-water-like eyes, and said excitedly, "This only makes it more exciting! After all, other people's things taste the best — isn't it thrilling to snatch food from Miku-senpai's mouth?"
Her playful, beautiful eyes watched Ayase, whose expression had completely crumbled.
She wasn't trying to attack her friend, but Ayase's words had put her on alert. Such words would shatter this girl's filter — with her obsessiveness about cleanliness, she couldn't even accept "otaku" as real people, let alone seeing Daiki being treated this way right in front of her.
Thinking of this, Iroha looked at Daiki and showed an obedient smile.
'Iroha... someone like this... is going to get herself killed one day, isn't she? Miku-senpai is one of quintuplets — five against one, can she win?' Ayase's lips trembled, unable to say a word.
She was speechless in the face of her friend's twisted logic and statements.
'Wait, when did Iroha's relationship with Daiki-senpai become so intimate? He just returned today. Last time at the Shōgi Hall, she seemed excited — could something have happened then? But when we first met, she was still criticizing Senpai. When did everything change? Was it during the Magano incident?'
Memories surged in Ayase's mind.
She recalled that night at Magano, when Daiki unleashed his large-scale destructive techniques. Afterward, he had Mei Mei teach them about Cursed Techniques, though Iroha struggled to grasp them initially.
After they'd gone home that night, Iroha had lingered behind, and strange supernatural phenomena occurred outside the bedroom.
Later, while Daiki tutored the Nakano sisters, they trained at his house daily under Mei's guidance.
Iroha, who couldn't even begin at first, suddenly mastered the techniques — developing Cursed Energy that surpassed Ayase and Daiki's combined power.
Connecting these clues, a shocking realization struck Ayase — it must have happened then!
That devious Iroha had taken shortcuts to obtain her Cursed Energy, bypassing normal training, and now had the audacity to flaunt it!
Ayase's grip tightened on the kitchen knife. This wasn't the sweet, innocent Iroha she once knew. How could she condone such relationship-destroying behavior — was this what Sōbu High School was teaching nowadays?
Ring ring ring—
The clear phone ringtone cut through Ayase's thoughts.
She and Iroha looked toward Daiki, whose phone displayed "Teacher Mafuyu".
"Mafuyu... that sounds familiar?" Iroha said curiously.
Ayase's face darkened, "That's the second-year teacher, Miss Mafuyu Kirisu. Iroha, show some respect — don't call teachers by their first names!"
Everyone knew Mafuyu for her icy demeanor and particular hatred of inappropriate student relationships. No doubt she was calling to reprimand Daiki about his relationship with Miku!
'This is good! Let Miss Mafuyu Kirisu awaken Senpai's inner goodness and help him return to a normal life!' Ayase clenched her small fist.
Though she felt conflicted, she knew Daiki's tangled romantic affairs had to end. Breaking things off now would prevent greater pain later.
She waited in silence for the ice queen Mafuyu's stern rebuke, while Iroha watched with curiosity.
Daiki swiped to answer the call.
But the first words through the speaker left Ayase stunned.
