America 1982-Chapter 633 - 144: The Reason Kane Fan Converted to Buddhism_3
"But AMDβs 386 chips arenβt exactly legal yet, they could be recalled at any time as the lawsuit with Intel hasnβt been settled," Jason told Tommy. ππ«ππ²π¨πππππ―ππΉ.ππ¨πΊ
"The whole world knows AMD will win, Intel knows that too. Letβs get back to the main point, the AmigaOS launch event, Susy, what are your thoughts?" Tommy looked at Susy and asked.
Susy spread out the documents in her hands and pushed them towards Tommy: "As per your previous instructions, this is the plan and rough process designed by me and the team. The keywords are roughly: women, user-friendly interface, defy tradition, break the order, new world."
Tommy took them and flipped through, murmuring, "We need to slightly adjust the scale of the launch event."
"For example?"
"Treat the launch event like part of the product, treat it with importance. Not like before when you considered just standing on the stage rambling on, then have the big screen show some photos and get the paid audience to lead the applause. If more budget is needed, the company will agree, but make sure your plan is truly appealing. It would be even better if after the event you could surprise and honor the Gorbachev couple from the Soviet Union. Am I asking for too much?"
"Since you mentioned additional budget, I think itβs very reasonable." Susy smiled at Tommy and said, "Then Iβll go and hold a meeting with them, it seems like youβre in a hurry."
After saying that, Susy stood up and walked out.
Once Susy was gone, Tommy whispered in Jasonβs ear, "Jason, when you feel the time is right, have Susy release some of the Microsoft system vulnerabilities sheβs been holding onto to help boost Microsoftβs publicity. Ideally, large companies that adopted Microsoft systems would suffer the most. Sheβs just part-time with the Federal Security Agency, right? Itβs normal for leaks to happen during security vulnerability reporting."
"My beautiful girlfriend might end up jobless because of it."
"Of course, I get that," Tommy nodded in agreement. "So what are you supposed to do if Susy becomes jobless?"
Jason sighed and looked at Tommy. "Maybe, Iβll say itβs time to get married?"
"Correct answer," Tommy said with a smile to Jason. "That unemployment compensation wouldnβt be too bad for her, right? And not too bad for you either."
After finishing, Tommy looked at Ted, who was nearly dozing off across the room:
"Ted, Jason will contact you when heβs done. Then you send your most reliable reporters to cover the leak news provided by Jason. Dig up some of Microsoftβs scandals or negative press over the years. Itβs not about causing trouble for Microsoft, but the news is there to tell everyone what happened, to report the truth. If thereβs a lawsuit, donβt worry, Jason will generously cover the costs. You know what to do, right?"
"Gorbachev always has a custom to buy a few of the top-selling newspapers from whatever country he visits to see where news about his visit is placed," Ted yawned weakly and said:
"Just tell him, Microsoft is a steaming pile of crap that just happened to land on his head."
Tommy nodded, "Exactly."
Ted gently tapped the table a few times, shrugged, stood up, and walked out.
When only Jason was left in the room, Tommy leaned tiredly against the back of his chair and let out a sigh of relief: "Spare me the talk and let me enjoy this rare moment of peace, Jason."
"But Stephen called earlier, inviting us to the premiere of his new movieβI believe itβs the one documenting your group of high school friendsβ holiday antics. You sure you can enjoy peace for long? Both Susy and I received invitations, I guess you must be on the list too," Jason said on the side:
"Also, about Charles..."
"Donβt talk about Charles, Jason. Charles has given us a lot, and believe me, he hasnβt profited for himself or exploited us to gain favor with the big shots. Heβs always tried to give us the best solutions." Tommy rubbed his temples, just opening his eyes when he saw Page walking towards the meeting room. He muttered a curse under his breath and slowly stood up from his seat:
"I guess before I go see the crappy movie premiere, I have to deal with an old lady first."
...
Delia Keys pushed open the door to the suite at the Four Seasons Hotel.
After that, she tossed her handbag aside, flicked off her designer high heels, and plopped down gracefully on the sofa, draping her feet over Tommyβs lap, turning her head to look at the TV that was tuned to a pay-per-view channel, airing what looked like a poorly made softcore comedy sci-fi film.
"Iβm not in the mood, Tommy," Delia turned her gaze away and closed her eyes, "And look at that picture quality, itβs terrible. But the male leadβs muscles are not bad."
"Of course theyβre not bad, thatβs the lead actor Meaty Hero. With a movie budget of $470,000, it raked in $5.3 million at the box office. The name of the movie is βThe Adventures of the Hanging Airshipβ. Can you believe it? A movie you would definitely not want to watch based on the title alone, no famous actors, yet it sold over five million in box office, making a fortune for that company. That was in 1974. Meanwhile, in the goddamn year of 1990, my dear good friend Stephen, with a budget of over thirty million, made a biopic and cast Hollywood stars like Matt Dillon and Dane Lane. But it is estimated that the first-week box office might not even surpass this crappy movie." Tommy, too, looked weary as he kept his eyes on the TV screen.
