America 1919-Chapter 910: For me to betray Donnie, you’ll need to pay more.
The Rothschild Family has made a move!
Just two days after Donnie met with Gilbert Thomas, Steve Cotting brought Donnie some news.
Their three fleets on the route from the United Kingdom back to the United States encountered large-scale pirate attacks.
"How are my people?"
Donnie immediately asked Steve Cotting.
Steve Cotting, slightly excited, said, "Luckily, boss, your timely instructions ensured that our ships were equipped with heavy weaponry. We handled those guys completely! Plus, we ended up with two additional cargo ships!"
"Were there casualties?" Donnie asked.
Steve Cotting nodded and replied, "Yes, three people died, and fifteen were injured."
Donnie raised his eyebrows. Although he hadn’t witnessed the battle personally, he understood its brutality and remarked, "Send a telegram to Chris and have him allocate funds from the company’s account to compensate the wounded and the families of the deceased. Also, inform the families of the three fatalities that the company will continue to pay their wages!"
Steve Cotting nodded and said, "Understood. I’ll send a telegram to Mr. Chris shortly."
Leaning back on the sofa, Donnie reflected that compensating these victims was essential to showing the company’s loyalty to its employees. Only through this approach could they ensure dedication from the workforce.
"Boss, don’t you think the Rothschild Family was a bit impulsive this time?"
Seeing Donnie remain silent, Steve Cotting asked curiously.
Donnie smiled and asked, "Why do you say so?"
Steve Cotting replied, "Actually, there’s something I’ve never quite understood. Given Rothschild’s influence in Europe, they didn’t need to use such a clumsy method. They could have easily leveraged the governments of European countries to detain our cargo ships locally. So why disguise their people as pirates and raid the ships?"
Donnie appreciated Steve Cotting’s insight, especially since Steve Cotting was set to manage operations in Germany independently. For someone of his position, independent thinking was indispensable.
"It’s simple. Rothschild didn’t want to outright sever ties with us. They are seeking cooperation, and we don’t want to escalate matters with them either. Although we hold leverage that they fear, such threats are most effective when kept in hand rather than wielded. Once that punch is thrown, its deterrent power is lost.
Although we are aware, and they know we’re aware, that they did this craftily, there’s no direct evidence proving it was their doing—and that’s enough.
If they were to mobilize official power, that would signify a direct defiance, and neither side would benefit in such a scenario. This outcome contradicts Rothschild’s interests." freewёbnoνel.com
Steve Cotting nodded, understanding Donnie’s reasoning.
"So essentially, Rothschild disguising their people as pirates is their way of flexing their muscle and signaling that our combat strength is within their capacity to handle. However, they didn’t anticipate that you, boss, had already anticipated their moves. This time they not only failed to intimidate us but also found themselves in a disadvantageous position."
Donnie simply shook his head at Steve Cotting’s flattery and remarked, "Actually, I hadn’t expected Rothschild to genuinely act on this matter. If that’s the case, maybe I’ve been overly sensitive in terms of the importance I’ve placed on them."
Having already laid out the groundwork for confrontation with the Rothschild Family earlier, Donnie obviously predicted their eventual actions. Coupled with the fact that his private liquor business was the closest in proximity to Europe…
Hmm, this move seemed overly conspicuous!
Meanwhile, within the Rothschild Family, disagreements were arising regarding Donnie’s conjecture and their recent actions.
In Neddy Rothschild’s bedroom, Alfred Rothschild, Leo Rothschild, and Anthony Rothschild had returned to the United Kingdom. The three sat, worried as they gazed at the pallor on Neddy Rothschild’s face.
"This situation was my mistake. I underestimated Donnie, which led to us suffering significant losses!"
Anthony Rothschild lowered his head and admitted his fault.
Neddy Rothschild weakly waved a hand and said, "This was an inevitable mistake. Without experiencing it, you wouldn’t comprehend why Donnie could rise to become the Sect Leader of the United States’ ninth-largest financial conglomerate in such a short time!"
Evidently, the orchestrated attack on the United States Logistics fleets was Anthony Rothschild’s plan.
Alfred Rothschild and Leo Rothschild initially harbored some grievances toward Anthony Rothschild, but hearing Neddy Rothschild’s remarks softened their stance.
"Although Donnie had prepared for this in advance, our hired personnel undeniably failed. I propose we dismiss all those who returned!"
Alfred Rothschild suggested.
The other three members of the Rothschild Family had no objections to Alfred Rothschild’s proposal.
"Now that Donnie has thwarted this plan, I’m sure he believes he has the upper hand. Negotiating with him will only become more challenging!"
