Amber Sword-Chapter 887 - 175: Escape_2
Brand activated the Fervor Talent.
The aura around him changed instantly, and though his temporary attributes couldn't break through the Elemental Wall, after surpassing six hundred in strength and constitution, Brand still inevitably felt the presence of that elusive barrier.
He reached forward, and space shattered like layers of glass before him. A streak of black light shot from his fingers toward Andesa, who immediately sensed the threat from behind. She was caught by surprise and swung her hand back.
With a thunderous crash, the ground shook, and the damaged Earth Puppet blocked Brand's path. The black light struck its right leg, blowing a nearly two-meter-wide hole straight through its body.
This penetrating power startled Brand.
"The White Crow Swordsmanship is actually affected by the Power of Darkness in the fervor state?" He was surprised, but quickly sensed a shadow looming over him.
Brand looked up to see the Earth Puppet toppling toward him—it lost balance after its right leg was damaged, yanking apart a whole stone pillar as it attempted to move away.
Not daring to be careless, Brand pushed off the ground forcefully to activate the Charge Skill, turning into a black streak that dodged the falling Earth Puppet, shooting straight toward Andesa—beside Faina.
The loud crash and dust from the fallen Earth Puppet perfectly concealed Brand's maneuver.
Moreover, Andesa could never have imagined that Brand would be so incredibly fast—the combination of Fervor and Charge made him even swifter than Veronica, who mastered the Wind Element. By the time Andesa realized it, Brand was already close at her side.
"You!" Andesa's face twisted in the dust, realizing something was amiss, and she swung her hand back menacingly.
The Erosion Force brushed past Brand, instantly turning his sleeve and the side of his inner armor to ash, but he still managed to evade Andesa's attack first. Taking advantage of the last opportunity, Brand lunged forward and cut through Andesa's vines with a reverse grip, reaching out with his left hand to catch the falling Faina.
The young girl let out a soft hum, frowning, and Brand noticed a red ring around her neck, knowing she must have suffered quite a bit.
But this was not the time to think about it, as Andesa had already noticed his actions. Screaming in the dust, she began chanting loudly, extending her fingers—a giant wooden spike appeared out of thin air, aiming for Brand in midair.
At this moment, Brand was cutting through Andesa's vines with one hand and holding Faina with the other, leaving him vulnerable. As the spike came hurtling through the air, he could only focus his willpower, forming a tangible barrier in front of him.
The spike burst through the mist and struck the barrier, its massive force causing it to twist and shatter into countless fragments. But the spell wasn't finished; the fragments transformed into numerous wooden claws attacking Brand once again.
Brand could only fragment his Will Barrier, causing the claws to crash onto the separated transparent barriers. The wooden claws shattered again under the magic resistance, this time turning into a cloud of black dust.
This all happened in an instant, leaving Brand feeling dizzy and worn out, as even a strong will can only provide substantial magic resistance at a cost. Facing the imminent cloud of dust descending upon him, Brand had a flash of inspiration. He swung his Earth Sword, engulfed in flames, around himself, the dancing fire incinerating the dust.
The Living Wood Piercing was a Tri-element Spell, dealing puncture damage, then binding, with the subsequent powder also carrying poison. Anyone unfamiliar with the spell might suffer greatly, but Brand had long anticipated this. After dealing with the spell's three stages, he immediately leaped back, pulling Faina with him to escape Andesa's close range.
Mission accomplished!
Brand dodged two vine whips and immediately turned to shout, "Veronica, Miss Faina is safe, let's split up and leave!"
He understood clearly that together they were no match for the Lord Withering, and if he tried to escape with Qian, neither Veronica nor Andesa was a fool.
Only by saving Faina would Veronica fully commit to covering his retreat. If Veronica could hold off Andesa, his chances of escape would increase significantly.
But his shout completely enraged Andesa. Seeing Brand as personal property was one thing, especially with the precious Blood of the Dark God in him, she wouldn't allow him to escape so easily.
The Lord Withering of the Shepherd Tree Men let out a high-pitched scream, spreading her arms wide. Countless thorny hellish vines erupted from the ground, blocking Brand's path as if to cover the sky.
"Damn!" Brand jumped at the sight of this massive cage forming out of nowhere, realizing he still underestimated this vine woman's persistence.
In this critical moment, a sky-blue light pierced through the mist—wherever it touched, the vines were severed. The blue sword light transformed into a flock of blue birds, blasting a large hole in the vine canopy in midair.
Brand's eyes lit up, and he seized the opportunity to leap out of the opening. Dragging Faina with him, he turned back to see Veronica standing alone with a sword, her aura swirling, hair flying, leaving him with just a sky-blue silhouette.
"The red-haired girl is over there; take her and Faina and go," Veronica said without looking back. "Leave this to me."
Glad it worked out!
Brand breathed a sigh of relief. He knew Veronica wasn't Andesa's match, but since the Female Sword Saint made this choice, it was hers to make. Besides, they had been enemies before, and saving Faina was a favor returned by Veronica.
It was just cooperation and a transaction.
He felt no burden and immediately raced toward the Holy White Stone, Andesa's furious screams echoing behind him:
"You damn brat, don't let me catch you!"
Yet her voice sounded somewhat frantic and exasperated. (To be continued. For more, please visit www.qidian.com, where there are more chapters. Support the author and read legally!)
