Am I a Healer? You'd Better Think So!-Chapter 39: I Helped Them!
Chapter 39 - I Helped Them!
A heavy silence fell over the arena.
"Don't worry about that, the bet was recorded properly," the judge's voice broke the ice. "They can't spend any more points. In a few days, your leader will receive a notification to claim all the points from those five. In a month, they'll have to pay the 100 million debt. That's also the final deadline for delivering the rank S egg."
After those words, Leander and the others finally snapped back to reality. They had actually won.
Darian, on the other hand, let out a heavy breath. In the end, he'd taken more than one big gamble.
First, from the past memories he had seen, he recalled a random conversation that support girl had. She warned her group to watch out for long-range attacks, specifically targeting the area just above the head of whoever she was restraining.
She didn't explain why, but Darian guessed that since High Humans had their rings on the forehead, that spot above it probably had stronger resistance. That girl didn't have enough power to perfectly form her blessing, so leaving that naturally tougher spot as a weak point seemed like the easiest option.
His second gamble? He bet that idiot had never actually fought in his life. Darian wasn't even close to being a skilled fighter. He relied 100% on his ability to sense karma and predict movements, along with some quick battle training. Normally, that wouldn't be enough—but Raon was such a garbage fighter it worked.
'Somehow... it worked. Maybe just taking the initiative and going all in is something most people don't even try. That alone gives me an edge,' he muttered mentally.
At that moment, the four moved quickly toward him.
"Nice work, rookie... Did you get military training from the empire?" Matteo asked with a wide grin.
Darian answered casually, "Hm? Nah. I think I just went through a lot of shit and ended up learning how to think fast and protect myself a little."
"For real? Your combat reflexes are insane... maybe it's just natural talent," Harper said, excited. "I got it! I'll train you and teach you properly. I bet you'll be like a sponge and turn into an absolute beast in no time!"
Darian waved his hands, looking uneasy. "Er... I can learn a bit, but I'm not going too deep into it. I'm a support, after all. That's not changing."
"Fair enough," Leander said casually. "Well, Raon was a fully equipped fighter. You were quick to snatch that artifact from him and then used your healing power to your advantage..."
"That healing..." Veyle murmured from behind them, deep in thought. "Your blessing is really abnormal. I remember reading that all three Healing Blessings are really slow and need a long time to concentrate."
Darian froze. He had completely forgotten about that.
"Err... my blessing isn't exactly like those three. I did something weird... and Rhea wanted to kill me when I told her... anyway, if I burn a lot of power, I can speed it up." Darian said, feeling the weight of their stares.
"It was luck. If I hadn't managed to steal that artifact after Raon's hit, I wouldn't have had enough strength to heal another big wound. My fists, though... that cost way less..."
The others nodded slightly. They had already heard from Rhea about what he did to his blessing, but now their eyes gleamed with excitement.
What he had done was beyond reckless. There was a real chance he would never reach even the mid-levels of those blessings, as their creators had documented.
But he had made something unique. This ability to burn a ton of energy for speed—none of the Healing Blessing creators had achieved that.
There were artifacts designed to recover power, and they weren't outrageously expensive. In missions where burning resources was acceptable, even if Darian never improved his blessing, what he already had would still be insanely useful.
"Let's go back. We have a lot to talk about," Leander said, turning to Zeal in the stands.
The sourc𝗲 of this content is frёeωebɳovel.com.
Zeal, in turn, smiled and puffed out his chest. Bringing Darian along had been an excellent move. He had enjoyed a great show and, in the future, could even use this as leverage.
The six of them grouped up and walked out calmly under the watchful eyes of everyone in the arena. A few minutes later, they arrived back at Azure Haven in two cars.
But they didn't head to a training building. Instead, they dragged Darian into a large bar—built specifically for them to unwind and have fun.
Darian barely sat down before he was surrounded. And then—
The doors flew open, and Rhea stormed in, Damon at her side.
"What the hell did you do?!"
"Mom, we had no choice, we had to fight him," Leander said, taking a deep breath.
Rhea shot back furiously, "You idiot! The whole city is talking about how Freon's son got beaten and humiliated in the arena! The entire Red River Pact clan is being silently mocked, and they are furious!"
"Sorry, ma'am..." Veyle said, lowering her head. That seemed to make Rhea sigh and calm down slightly.
"Tell me everything. In detail," Damon said calmly. As the clan leader, he had to keep his composure. This was about to become a full-blown storm.
Leander started speaking in front of his older brother, who stared at him.
"When I got there, the three had already agreed to fight. Raon... he said Oliver's Summoner egg was close to hatching. His father had big plans and intended to give it to him in the future."
Darian saw this in the past vision. When Oliver realized he wouldn't survive, he gave everything he had to his allies, including that egg, which he kept close to him for some reason.
But... after the escape, they had to fight to complete the mission. Harper, who had Oliver's belongings, was seriously injured. That's when Raon's group moved in to 'rescue' her. Obviously, they only did it because they wanted to steal Oliver's belongings.
And that's exactly what they did. When Leander roared in rage, Raon simply said that everything belonging to the dead should be handed over to the Empire.
That was, in fact, an actual rule—one created to prevent allies from fighting over inheritances during missions. There had already been cases where missions completely failed because of that.
Of course, Raon's father moved fast to claim that rank S egg. As for its true origin... Darian had no clue.
Leander continued explaining. The reasons for accepting that challenge were simple: the loser would be in serious trouble. Raon's father obviously wouldn't let his son die on a mission, but even he wouldn't just hand over points and resources on a silver platter after Raon lost and disgraced the clan's name.
So, whoever lost would have to renegotiate the debt.
Veyle was Raon's real target. He would gladly cancel everything if she joined his clan.
Now that Darian had a basic understanding of her blessing, it was obvious she'd be an excellent match for Raon, since she could create a huge mist and activate his blessing.
As for them, they obviously demanded the egg back. Only Raon could take it from his father and return it secretly. His father would find out later, but he wouldn't do anything too serious to his own son because of it.
"Those sons of bitches..." Rhea cursed, clearly furious.
Almost everyone who joined the clan had been recruited and trained by her. It was an Empire job that paid terribly, so very few wanted to do it. But she did it willingly because she wanted to help young people and find talents to strengthen her clan.
Oliver was someone she had brought in, just like Darian. She felt his loss just as much as the group did.
Then, Leander and the others told the rest of the story, recounting what had happened in the fight.
Rhea and Damon listened in silence.
By the end, their serious gazes were locked on Darian.
"Well, I already saw a bit of what he's capable of before..." Rhea said, letting out a deep sigh.
Then, her voice turned stern: "Kid... you have a tendency for extreme and excessive violence. Looks like I'll have a lot of work disciplining you properly."
Everyone listened and nodded silently. He really was a bit... over the top.
Darian's eyes widened. 'Wait? I helped them! I'm innocent!'
