Alpha's Secret Bride-Chapter 82: Viral Under the Moonlight
"Brooklyn, would you help me fix my clothes back on the hanger?" She said as she lay on her favorite sofa bed. "I’m tired."
"Didn’t you sleep last moon-fall?"
"I came in the early hours of moonrise," she said, but Brooklyn kept quiet. She lifted her head to know why. She stood there smiling at her.
"Mate things right?"
"Aren’t we mature enough?"
"I’m just imagining how romantic your first night with your Alpha mate was. Tell me, was he gentle?" Brooklyn murmured coyly. Emma shook her head and smiled too.
"Is he a jackhammer?" Brooklyn sat close to her, hoping to get the full dose of gossip.
"He can be anything my wolf and heart desire."
"What speed do you prefer? Fast or slow?" Brooklyn grinned.
"I need to call my maids. I haven’t seen any of them since I came back," she said to change the topic. The naughty she-wolf gossip Brooklyn wanted made her feel like being wrapped in her mate’s arms already. Brooklyn sighed and stood up from the sofa.
"We used to share intimate kinds of stuff, Emma. Well....I guess you are now...."
"We love everything about each other," she looked up at her. "Our wolves know what pleases us and take the lead as we look through each other’s souls." Silence enveloped the closet. She noticed Brooklyn’s countenance dropped immediately.
"One of your maids figured you were back the moment she saw me and screamed. She also followed me up here. I..."
"What is it, Brooklyn?" She got down from the bed and walked towards her.
"Nothing," she shook her head and continued arranging Emma’s clothes. She whirled her around when a tear dropped on a gown she was holding. She figured out why her countenance dropped.
"Emma, I’m twenty-four already," she whimpered. Brooklyn had always wanted to know what it feels like to find her true mate. Unfortunately, she hadn’t met a he-wolf who ignited the twin flames she watched in the pack tales within her. She had dated a few wolves, but none of the bonds lasted more than a winter.
Emma pulled her closer and relaxed her head on her shoulder. Brooklyn is one of the wolves who has been able to make a positive impact on her life. She has also been with her through all the thicks and thins of her wolf journey. Her sadness tore her heart apart. She vowed to make sure she stayed close to her as she stroked her back. She lifted her head and continued what she was doing. Her face was brighter now.
"I have a lot of things to fix here," she said, looking around.
"Don’t worry, I’ll help you," Brooklyn said, and began to put her closet in order.
She pulled her handbag closer and took the pictures out again. A wild smile touched her lips as she stared at her picture. It was obvious she wouldn’t give her up for adoption. Brandon’s personal Beta once told him that he didn’t think she was adopted. He thought she was taken. However, if she was taken, what stopped her blood mother from reporting them to the council, since she knew where they lived?
Her mother kept telling her that she fed her for twenty-one good winters instead of twenty-three. She was right. The picture confirmed that she spent two winters of her life with her blood mother. She tried to figure out what happened, but she couldn’t think of anything. She guessed her blood mother was the shadowy figure that tormented her when she was a pup.
"Oh my moon goddess!"
"What is it?" Brooklyn turned to look at her.
"My mate knows what transpired between my mother and my blood mother, but we have been busy lately and haven’t talked about it yet."
"Tonight is the perfect time to talk about it, Emma. Please, do not hide whatever he will tell you from me."
"I just hope he will still tell me."
"Why not? He knows how much you need it."
"I won’t forgive them if..." she closed her mouth when Princess Elara gave her her device. She knew her mate was on the other end of the video call but she hesitated for a few seconds before talking.
"My moonblessed one, I’m coming home for lunch. I just want to make sure you are awake," he murmured after a few seconds. She noticed he was walking.
"Are you coming right now?"
"Yes," he murmured again.
"I’m waiting," she said in the same tone. She waited for him to hang up but he kept quiet. After a few seconds, he took a deep breath.
"Are you aware that I’m in love with you alone?" he whispered. Their wolves knew how deeply they were bonded, but her heart still skipped each time he reminded her, especially during their most intimate moments. It felt so good to hear him say it always. She smiled and rolled her eyes.
"Stop rolling your eyes, my true mate. Guess what is trending across the pack networks?"
"The desperado’s make-believe mating bond?"
"No, your Alpha under moonlight."
"What?"
"I watched a clip of what happened in the garden ten minutes ago," he grinned. "The wolves who saw it are demanding urgent confirmation of what Brooklyn said from the royal den," he smirked again, tilting his head. She took Brooklyn’s device and checked the trending section. Brooklyn couldn’t stop laughing as she watched the clip that was slowly going viral. Her voice was heard in the background but her face was not captured. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"Did we humiliate her?"
"She humiliated herself and more is coming her way if she doesn’t take her eyes off another wolf’s mate," Brooklyn said. Brandon heard her voice and laughed. She knew the royal court would call for her, but she was ready to stand and challenge anyone that would try to take her happiness away. She looked up at Brooklyn with determination. She had no single fear in her. She gave her a reassuring stare as if she read her mind.
"Are you going to give them the confirmation?" She muttered.
"Why not? But not now."
"Why?"
"I’ll tell you when I get there. My moonblessed one, start going to our feeding chamber."
"Alright my starlit," she responded and got down from the sofa bed immediately. He kept quiet for a few seconds again.
"I can’t wait to see you. I want to look at your beautiful eyes and claim your lips first," he joked.
"I love you," she muffled as she walked down the stairs.
"Could you say that again?"
"I love you, my starlit."
He kept quiet, obviously smiling through the bond. The device hung up.
She heard noises in the general feeding chamber and walked towards it. The last time she checked, Bernard told her that her domestic workers had all left the estate. She wondered who told them that she was back. There was an uproar as soon as she walked into the general feeding chamber with a smile on her face. She waved at them and everywhere became quiet. She could still see the excitement in their eyes.
"Oh my moon goddess! Listen....I," she paused and licked her lip. "I ... .I’ll talk to you wolves later," she smiled, waved at them again, and headed swiftly to their exclusive feeding chamber. She was excessively excited and she couldn’t talk to them.
Her heart sang melodious songs when Brandon’s guards began to come in. She knew her starlit had arrived. His presence awakened her wolf and everything glowed with a radiant brightness when he was near. The thought of seeing him and being close to him gave her goosebumps all the time.
After a few minutes, a hand dropped a white box wrapped in a red ribbon on the feeding table and she felt his warm touch on her shoulders. She giggled as she looked at the gift he had just dropped on the feeding table. He sat beside her, locked eyes with her, and kissed her deeply.
"Web bloggers and news wolves must be ransacking the net now, seeking evidence to support what Brooklyn said. They are going to see you at your book launch," he whispered into her ear, parted her lips, and swallowed the words she had on her tongue. She responded, lingering and savoring every second. Even the outcry they heard close to them couldn’t stop them from enjoying each other’s warmth. They lifted their faces and looked in the direction of the noise. Lunara and two guards that stopped her from taking a step further stood far off, staring at them. She was red-cheeked with rage and sorrow pierced her to the core, darkening her eyes. They returned their gaze. Brandon watched her as she opened the box he got for her.
The things in the box were quite amusing and they couldn’t stop laughing. However, she felt a surge of motivation settle within her wolf. The author-themed candles stirred her creative instincts. The author-themed mug reminded her how meaningful her chosen path was, and the themed clock, crafted to guide authors through their day with humor, sparked inspiration within her. Brandon pushed a new gold phone encrusted with diamonds to her side and she screamed.
"Leo, what does she want?" Brandon asked, uncovering the food before them.
"She wants to talk to you."
"Tell her to wait in the lounge.
